I can't seem to get into Star Trek's Enterprise but than again I only enjoyed the "original" Star Trek Series.

I am soooooo looking forward to Joss Whedon's Firefly...my sci-fi/drama genre is running mighty thin.Especially with the X-Files spinning DOWN the drain on a weekly basis since season nine.Dark Angel...still trying to figure what went wrong with that show...I'm down to Buffy The Vampire Slayer which I was starting to have my doubts in season six.

Which leaves me Smallville,Witchblade,Farscape

Bring it on Firefly!!!

Ah yes, the good old days. I loved Star Trek when it first came out. Funny thing though, I can hardly stand to watch those old eps now.

I personally quit watching X-Files after the 5th season. Oh, I saw maybe 3 or 4 eps since then, but I think the show should have ended before the movie. After that, the show went downhill real fast.

Thank heaven someone talked me into Buffy and Angel. I still dislike any ep with Riley in it and I even quit watching Buffy this season, but I'm still taping it and will watch it this summer if it seems like it will be worth it.

I've never seen Smallville, Witchblade or Farscape or Dark Angel. I did watch a few eps of a show about 3 witches, but I can't even remember it's name, it was that good.

Now we just have to wait months for the next great thing to come along. I just hope it's Firefly. It looks so promishing right now, even if FOX has messed with the pilot already.

What?
You don't watch Angel??!!
Angel just finished its most riveting season yet.

Enterprise... I'm not sure what to say about it. I want to like it. The show seems to be more talky than ANY of the previous Star Trek series and these characters (and their corresponding actors) just aren't interesting enough to watch yammering techno-babble for 60 minutes. Trip is probably the only character they couldn't replace with a sound dubbed mannequin. Plus that theme song is just horrendous. I hope they drop it during the off season.

HOWEVER... I thought the season ending cliffhanger of Enterprise was very cool. Too bad I had to wait until episode 26 to see something interesting on that show.

I liked the pilot of Enterprise, and the first few episodes. I'm a big Star Trek fan, but besides the episodes involving the Suliban and the time travel story it hasn't been that interesting. I think the characters have potential and I like the actors. But it isn't that interesting. Maybe the new blood coming over from X-files will bring some exciting elements with him.

X-files I stopped watching 2 years ago. I watched the finale, though.

Farscape is great, but I hated waiting MONTHS and MONTHS just to get the last 4 episodes. The bright side is the new season is coming up soon.

I like Witchblade. I really liked it in the first season, even though it could be very cheesy at times. I didn't like that they reset everything and we basically have to watch season 1 over, just with variations. IT could be interesting though.

Smallville just doesn't interest me. I tried to watch it 3 times but I'm never interested enough to get through an episode.

I haven't watched Angel since the first season. I like Angel, but at this point I'm kind of lost and I havent' felt the desire to catch up. Buffy I watched in the first season and then didn't catch it for about 4.5 years. I just started watching again with season 6.

So, I'm definitely looking forward to Firefly providing some good sci-fi. I wonder if the new Twilight Zone will be any good?

I haven't watched Dark Angel since season one and FOX cancelled the series so I guess I didn't miss much.As long as Joss Whedon can be a wonderful storyteller for Firefly and it doesn't take away too much of his time from Buffy,I'll be okay.

But Buffy The Vampire Slayer was down right unbearable to watch in season six.Dawn was downright annoying and I was bloody happy when Anya turned back into a vengeful demon.I was getting quite bored with the only *new* thing with that character was what her hair color would by the next episode .
Spike was turning into a "lovelorn vampire fool" and acting like Buffy when she fell head over heels for Angel back in season two.

Joss Whedon....make us proud with Firefly!!

Does anyone here like Babylon 5? I hope Firefly is good, because I was really disappointed that the B5 spinoff didn't get picked up. I also like Farscape. I watch Jeremiah on Showtime & also plan to watch Odyssey 5 on that channel. I've never seen Buffy--not interested.

Yeah, me! I actually started a B5 thread (kind of sort of) under the 'other sci-fi programs' section of this site just in case others were fans. Plus I mentioned Jeremiah which I haven't seen because I can't get it up here. I haven't seen Farscape yet but I'm going to check out our Canadian sci-fi channel to see what eps they're at 'cause I want to start at the beginning.

Now if only we could have Joss Whedon and J. Michael Straczynski team up...

I'm really excited about this new series. The concept really intrigues me. "Cowboys in Outer Space" LOL, for some reason it reminds me of that old skit on The Muppet Show, "Pigs In Space." Hee!

Anyway, I just joined and wanted to say hello to everyone. And what a great site this is!

Well it is apparant that some people are a bit upset about Dark Angel being cancelled. There are some people who try to get support and convince FOX to reconsider thier actions. Others are trying to get Dark Angel picked up by another network. Unfortunetly, there are also a few people that seem to have no idea of what is going on.

Let me shed a bit of light here. FOX makes money by airing shows. Advertisers gove FOX a lot of money if they think a lot of people are watching the show. Nobody watching=no $. Simple. So when a show doesn't have enough viewers, it losses advertising and gets cancelled. Now the network has a hole in it's line-up. They look around for the best possible show to fill the slot.

(1)Dark Angel loses viewers
(2)Advertisers lose money
(3) Fox loses money
(4)Dark Angel loses it's slot
(5) another show gets the slot.

There, now that should explain how the world works.

BTW, Do you know what show was cancelled so that Dark Angel could be broadcasted?

TiffanyNichelle: Welcome, welcome! It is indeed a great site! Haken did a great job designing it... so great that some people *coughdarkangeltrollscough* think it's an official site, where the creators will take their comments to heart.

Tieka: Nice rundown of the Dark Angel cancellation!

UBERSOLDAT: Your ignorance is not effective here. Take these comments elsewhere. A good place to vent would be at an anti-Firefly site, with those thousands of anti-Firefly fans you speak of. A bad place to vent is a pro-Firefly site which has aquired over 23,000 hits from people who are interested in the series. All you succeed in doing is looking ignorant.
You are contributing to an environment of negativity which we do not want on this forum.

You must have never read a post by chrisisall.

Dark Angel was the TV Show from James Cameron, starting in 2000.
Starring Jessica Alba, her husband-for-the-time Michael Weatherly, and included Grace Park and Jensen Eckles. It has the Friday death slot that Firefly took over on Fox.

There was a bit of backlash against Firefly by Dark Angel fans since they perceived they got cancelled for Firefly.

These days I have a tendency to not watch much until season three starts. A life lesson I got from FF

Somebody recommended The Expanse the other day and since we may actually have to get Amazon Prime I thought I'd check it out....anyone here seen it?

The Expanse is better than average. Kind of lost interest in it when they killed off my favorite character though. It's probably worth a watch, but I liked Dark Matter a lot more.

I’m at the point where I won’t even watch a show until it’s over and done with so I’ll if it’ll have an unresolved cliffhanger.

Yup... I thought Dark Matter was going to be safe since it has a really low budget compared to some of it's other shows and it was renewed for the 3rd season, but it still got the axe. From what I hear it left on a cliffhanger like season 2 did. I'll never know for sure because I'm not watching any of the 3rd season.

This is one of the main reasons I'm pretty much giving up TV as well movies. They care about nothing but ratings and will ditch a great, money making show just to put more money into shows that make more money. At that point, they don't know when to quit and we end up with 12 to 15 seasons or more when their done and then it just seems like a chore to slog through them.

Breaking Bad did it all just about perfect. Everybody else should take note of that and try to emulate that platform and length and number of episodes.

There is also a lot to say about a well told and acted single season show. I vaguely recall one I saw in the mid 2000's called Harper's Island that I really enjoyed at the time. Around that time Heroes was out and was originally only going to be one season, but it made too much money and they had to ruin it with three more seasons, the worst of which was right in the middle of the writer's strike. A more recent example, the UK made single season show "You, Me and the Apocalypse" was a really fun ride.

I mean, I already just summed up why there aren't more single season shows, but it's a shame that the format doesn't take off. When done well, they can be really entertaining tales, and when you've got a free weekend in the middle of winter with nothing better to do it's easy to binge watch the entire run in a few days without having to dedicate months of your free time to get through all of those really lousy "filler" episodes that don't need to be there at all.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Speaking of filler, the reboot of the Thundercats cartoon was excellent when it was on point, but they only got around to making 13 of the 26 planned episode due to the huge ratings drop off that the show saw after the first few episodes.

This really pissed me off at the time because 6 or 7 of the episodes did not even need to be created, and were the reason for the drop off. They reeked of the 80's cheese the original show was infamous for, and were completely one-off episodes that were entirely unrelated to the plot of a great story that could have been told start to finish in 13 eps without the BS filler interruption.

Sure, they all lost their jobs prematurely as a consequence, but the real losers in the situation were the fans who aren't die hard enough to go out and buy comics or whatever they intended to do to finish the story.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
