Hello browncoats,

Just finished watching a new show on the Si/Fi channel named Eureka. Looks like it's going to be interesting. I'll be trying to catch as many eps as I can.

points of interest also:

There's a girl named Zoey in it.

There's a guy named William Cobb

and although there isn't a guy named Jayne but there is a girl called Joe in the show.

what do you think?

I did identify Joe as basically a Jayne-ish character. I think Eureka is going to be an awesome tv show. Seems likes it's gonna be great. 'Course it isn't gonna be as good as Firefly, but it'll be a good show to watch each week on Sci-Fi, especially since it isn't on Friday, i think Sci-Fi is diversifying.

Did you see the previews for the shows coming this fall/winter? They looked like they were not going to be interesting or good. Why can't they not make 2 not-so-great tv series (the ones coming this winter) and a few less crappy movies and instead make an awesome tv show that already has a following (i.e. Firefly)? I looked at the ABC line-up for this fall, and they basically have 6 series that look like they are going to suck big time. And they cancelled a great SF show (Invasion) b/c it wasn't getting enough viewers, and instead decide to make a bunch of new, untried, crappy shows! It's ridiculous!

I don't know how network execs even learned human speech. They are incredibly dim-witted apparently. Cancel good shows with moderate to small but loyal followings and replace them with crappy shows that probably will have a moderate to small floating following that could care less if the shows were on tv that night or not.

Why do they have to cancel good shows? WHY!!!!?!??!?!?!?!!!?

I can't really call Invasion a good show. It was way to slow, all of the characters were annoying, and the plot was average at best. I still watched it everyweek, not sure why, mostly because it was on after Lost I guess.

Surface was a much better show in my opinion. It had several minor plots going to help break up the monotony that Invasion didn't have. I am kinda bummed that it was cancelled.

I really enjoyed Eureka a lot tonight. Hopefully it does well and it can get a decent run before somebody with an ichy trigger finger axes it.

I seem to be watching the Sci-Fi channel more and more every year. I'm gonna have to buy a Tivo to keep track of all the shows I like.

Well i disagree about Invasion. I loved it. And as to Surface, i didn't really watch it. Watched some, but didn't really get into it. Guess i quit too early, because i watched some on Sci-Fi when they did that marathon a couple weeks back and it seemed really interesting.

I hate it when good shows get cancelled.

I couldn't really stay with Invasion, it was on too late and I had to get up early in the morning. I did watch Surface, though, and really enjoyed it. The show I was angry about was Threshold, on CBS. That was one of my favorite new shows last season, and I thought it was really interesting.

I meant to watch Eureka when the premiere aired. I'll have to catch it when it comes on again.

EDIT: By the way, one of the new shows on ABC is Daybreak (Adam's new show), so I can't be completely angry at ABC for messing around with the schedule.

I really liked Eureka last night. Think it shows great promise. Colin Ferguson was good as the newbie sheriff.

I have to disagree with you about the fall/winter lineup, though. Sci-Fi channel is starting to show some cohones. They've made Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden novels into a series called "The Dresden Files." I think this shows "some" interest in pleasing the audience.
If you aren't familiar with this series of about 7 or so novels, get familiar. Highly recommend them.

Does anyone know if/when they are re-airing the pilot of "Eureka"?

Yep I liked Eureka. Looks as if it going to be a pretty good show. Can't take the place of Firefly though and besides if the show does get bad and starts to stink I'm sure it will get tagged with a new name you-reek-a

Anyway I haven't seen the other shows that have been mentioned. I would have liked to. The Fall line-up on Si/Fi does look good, I agree.

Caught POTC: Dead Mans Chest yesterday too. Good movie. A wink to(FF)in the movie I heard Johnny Deep say SHINY twice.

And, for those of us in Canada, Space will be airing it "sometime this fall."
