I was watching Jaynestown again...the 327th time now I think... I started to feel sorry for Stitch Hischin... Ya know the bearded badguy. Put yourself in his shoes... Your betrayed by your partner, lose your eye, get arrested, Your siting in a 4'x4' sweltering box suspended over a horrible stench, Nothing but revenge on your mind for 4 years... You get the opportunity for payback and after being free for about 8 hours, you get an 18" Knife in your chest and your brains smashed against a rock... Pretty raw deal, ifn' ya ask me. Also...I think Stitch was an independent... His shirt was red like Mals.

Feel sorry for Stitch? Never. Okay, well I did, but then I got this crazed obsession for Jayne and any bad feelings were directed towards him because he tried to kill Jayne. Now if we're talking Lilo and Stitch, then yes I do feel bad for him when Lilo tells him to go away. (Sorry, but I felt that was necessary) From a practical state of mind I feel sorry for Stitch Hischens, but from my Jayne-obsessed mind I'm angry at him. Besides, he killed the nice mudder guy.

You've got to feel sorry for anyone who picks Jayne as a partner - but if your judgement is that bad, the likelihood is that your other life-choices are equally dumb.

Jayne did what he did in order to survive!
Stitch had four years to think about that! Four years, to see that a man would rather betray his partner than die! If in four years you don't learn to forgive, or maybe think that if it happened again you would've done the same thing he did, but instead go on and on thinkin' about revenge and how to get him back, then you don't deserve any sympathy! You're helpless!
But that's how the 'verse works! Remember the guy from the comics? Revenge, guay of a thing!

I really enjoy the Jayne character. Without Jayne the show wouldn't be the same. Do I feel sorry for Stitch? Sure do.IMO I think 'ol Stitch is still around. Lots of stories to tell about 'ol Stitch and its pretty easy. If you swap what happened around with him and Jayne I'd bet everyone would want Jayne to get his revenge after being locked in a hotbox 4 years.

How about Stitch and Early team up together and go after the crew of Serenity. That would be and eps I'd call in sick to watch ;)

Or how about this Yosaffbridge and Stitch fall in love and for a honeymoon adventure rent a shuttle and hunt for Serenity to blow it up. Would River see that coming?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Stitch got a pretty raw deal, but I am not so sure sympathy is exactly what I feel for him. The man is a thief and hired gun. He chose the life he led and as was said by another, had the tables been turned, odds are he would have shoved Jayne out of the shuttle to make his escape.

It's a shame he got caught and got locked in the hot box for four years, but Magistrate Higgins & Stitch are to blame for his imprisonment, not Jayne. Sure Jayne shoved him out, but that's Jayne. You can't fault a scorpion for staying true to his nature. If I had been Stitch I would have shot Higgins and his foreman on the spot. Then I might have gone looking for Jayne.

Could it be that Stitch's world view differs from Jayne's because he is not a petty crook and thug-for-hire? Perhaps a dirt farmer put off his land when it was grabbed by Higgins to extend his protection of the environment? Think Grapes of Wrath rather than Stagecoach. He had a grievance and knowledge of Higgin's strong-box, and was introduced to Jayne by a third-party capable of convincing him of Jayne's value as a partner - probably at a commission. Stitch feels more aggrieved at Jayne because he expects Higgins to be dishonest, but has believed that Jayne is just a working stiff who owes him class-loyalty.

Higher and higher...

Onemanshort- yeah my first thought was Stitch from Lilo and Stitch and I can't watch the part where she tells him to go away and he's reading the duckie book all pitifully

Anyway, hey Stitch is a thief who shot a defenseless kid and seemed to have not a moments remorse. Yes I feel badly that he got betrayed and lost his eye and all, but hey suck it up and be a good person!

I choose to rise instead of fall- U2
