Not the most intelligent thread I know, but thank God they dumped Rebecca Gayheart.

Morena Baccarin looks seriously hot - and she plays a prostitute to boot! I think I'm gonna like this series.

I would've liked it if Rebecca Gayheart had stayed on.

I don't like her much- especially not after since her run-in with the law. But it's just that people's actually heard of her. I'm not concerned with the quality of the series- you can't go wrong with Whedon- but Fox isn't exactly known for having an eye for quality. It's ratings, ratings, ratings.

I agree. She's not *that* bad of an actress either.

I'm very worried about this friday night slot... very very worried. It's a death slot! Shift it with Fastlane, FOX. Fastlane is destined for failure anyway, and a Wednesday night slot would be much more successful in pulling in ratings. Gayheart would have pulled in some more viewers...

Dark Angel couldn't survive on Friday night, even with Jessica Alba... so maybe Gayheart wouldn't have been all the beneficial... but I digress.

Ubersoldat: Are you a fan of an anime called Noir?

If you have respect for Joss, trust him. The series has no similarities to Star Trek or Star Wars except for both take place on a space-ship and on other planets. The writing is what will make the series, and if it's appropriately billed, will succeed no matter what rejection there is from the Dark Angel fans.

Westerns are, and always have been, natural draws for American audiences. They are a staple of American cinema. Since I look at Firefly as more of a twist on the traditional western as much as I look at it as a sci-fi show, I think it will have a lot of success... westerns *always* have success in America, and they always will. It is a simple fact of the American spirit, and in a time of increased appreciation of American ideals, a series that deals with similar ideals that shaped the country has a significant chance for success. There is no denying this.

Yeah, I have a funny feeling you're right about that. But psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science fiction.

just last night I was going through my screen saver slide show,
and realized I had a serious lack of Inara WP...
so I needed to make up for it with screen caps.

BUT actually Inara hasn't been in very many action shots
(shouldn't there be some good screen caps of her teaching Mal to fence in her nightie? because I couldn't find any)
but I did find so many pictures of her/Inara/Morena looking so beautiful is very pretty clothes...
my favorite, the outfit in 'Trash' when she is gloating over YoSafBridge (and later Mal)
she looks very elegant with the half veil shielding her delicate skin from the sun!

Yeah. And hey, did you look up at the sky today? It was blue. And had little white fluffy things hanging there. I think they're called clouds.

Don't look at me. I just saw the title, thought it was the definition of obvious, and decided to riff on it.

This whole website is the constant resurrection of three year old topics! That's what happened when you have a steady flux of new recruits.

And I didn't realize you were all talking about purple monkeys three years ago, or I never would have brought it up.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Try to look on the bright side: @least they resurrected a 3-year old thread. We all got to read a bit of history. Preferable, in my opinion, to creating a new thread for a 3-year old topic, and oh so much better than creating a new thread for a 3-day old topic (let alone 3 hours).

Great, just ruttin' great. Not only did milk squirt out of my nose (which hurts like hell by the way) when I read that, it ruined my keyboard too.
