Is it even possible?

My parents got me the DVD set of Firefly for my birthday and I ordered Serenity. Both items came today and I'm dying to watch them! But, unfortunately, I am behind on summer reading for school and I need to get my work done. So, I can't watch them, no matter how much I want to. But, I can't get them out of my head, either!

What do you guys do when you have other obligations but all you want to do is go visit the 'verse?

Umm...visit the 'Verse anyway?

I do have a hard time with that, too...especially at work. But, I tell myself that I have to get "X" done before I can go play (still works even when you reach my age)...that seems to help. Dole it out; do a bit of work, watch a bit, etc. See if that helps.

Ignore Firefly while working?

Perhaps future civilizations can answer this strange and frightening question.

Lol! Hmm, I just ran into this problem the other day. I meant to start searching for captures in the BDM for some wallpapers that I had in mind. I ended up doing three captures, and spending the rest of the time just watching the movie. I don't really know how this helps your situation, just stay firm, and um, believe in the dream.

I dunno, Lissa, but if you figure it out please come back and give me pointers. I've been captivated ( held captive?) by the 'verse for almost a full year now and if you could see my office here.. you'd know I sure haven't done very well doing work first.

I often get caught talking to friends online, or watching the eps or the movie. I can't not look and I can't not watch. Not yet anyway.

Err...you mean like reading fireflyfans.net instead of doing this new fall titles list?

Seriously, you just have to focus.
Promise yourself if you read x number of pages, you can watch a whole episode.

Good luck! And I seriously sympathize!

(Now, E. If you finish 40 titles before afternoon break, you can come back and read some more.)

When doing tech support....just say, "Yes", "Really", and "I see" frequently. Then tell them to do a reboot. While you wait for them, read a post. "How's that sir?, Still Rebooting" Respond to post.

10 minutes later Oh yeah......is he still on hold?????

I'm just kidding........sort of.

I'd just watch an episode a night and do your reading during the day.
I, unfourtunately, have a hard time ignoring this forum while I'm at work. I pop on here like 4 or 5 times a day just at work, and a couple times at a night at home. I've only had the DVD's for like 3 weeks and I'm addicted to all things Firefly. This show really is special, I wish there was more of it, and at the same time, I'm happy with what was made and ok with the fact that there might not be anymore stories about the 'verse. It would be nice to see another TV season made.

Oh, wuh de mah. I hadn;'t thought about that. I'm going back to school in less than two weeks. I discovered Firefly right after school ended at the beginning of the summer.

I was watching a DVD a night, starting that Monday night when I bought the DVD boxset. Friday night I watched the movie, it's my brother's copy. I'm buying my own copy of Serenity Sept. 29th or 30th, whenever we are all supposed to buy a copy to show Universal that we love that movie and want another one.

It's the one impossible thing us Browncoats CAN'T do!

Ignore Firefly, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS! However, if you have any other Jossverse shows, it helps(Okay, not so much with the helping, but...). My point is this, if you fall for ANY of Joss's shows, you don't ever want to leave them.

Yeah, I'm getting around to buying all the Buffy DVD's and Angel DVD's. I just keep procrastinating cause I've seen every Buffy episode enough times that I have them memorized, almost. As, far as Angel goes, I haven't watched it so much as when TNT plays it, I'm never home or I only get to see alittle of it. Like right now it's on at 6am and 7am PST and before it was 5pm PST. Before I'd catch like the last 20 minutes of an episode, now I catch the first 20 minutes of an episode and can't watch the other one. I think I like Angel better, but now I'm off topic so I'm going to see to my mouth talkin'.

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I like the read-so-much-then-watch plan. I've used that in the past, though I kind of forgot about it. I usually works quite well!

I wish I had known about the plan to buy the movies in Sept., though. Somehow I missed reading about that. :( I would've waited, if I'd known.

Me, too, Shrouded! I saw Serenity shortly after school ended when a friend -- already a proud Browncoat -- suggested we rent it. After that, we watched all the episodes, too, and I fell in love. Well, more in love. The movie already had me hooked. Anyway.

I go anyway. Here's what works for me:

1) Watch episode(s)/movie

2) Place on a pot of coffee

3) Drink a pot of coffee

4) Repeat steps 2 and 3

5) Stay up all night fulfilling work/study obligations

6) Fall into bed exhausted, and dream of flying through the
'verse in a great little boat with some really shiny folk.

". . . that makes us special."

Hehe, my friend(s) introduced it to me, too. Actually, their mom did. But I'm not going into the details. Basically, it's like: friends mention Firefly, friends' mom gives DVD set to this user's mom while walking, this user watches it, she falls in love, and has yet to give the DVD set back although she's bought her own.

Ignoring Firefly?! hungh! I find that tough. Whenever I am in withdrawl, I turn to my mobile phone. I have the Ballad of Serenity as a ringtone. Calms the urges. OR I just cave and watch an episode on my Ipod.

Can I ask where you found the Ringtone? I've been looking for it to no avail.

I found that Huck Finn went fast if read under
the covers with a flashlight after I was supposed
to be in bed. ::-)

Maybe the adult 'coats should spend part of our
Winter months summarizing reading-list books
for the young'uns.

But maybe not. Should we undermine the
discipline you'll need as an adult 'coat so you
won't be reading fff.net at work or watching
Season 5 of the F/F Revival series?
