What does Joss want? (other than a vacation)

And we want him to have a very nice vacation. And for it to go on just a little too long, so he gets bored and lunges back into work, refreshed and revitalized.

I've been reading posts about another series, a sequel, a mini-series, and it has made me wonder...

Does he want to do any of those? Has he said so?

I am not trying to be a killjoy -- I would be standing in line for hours to buy the ticket for the right to stand in another line for whatever Firefly creation came on the scene.

But what he does is an awful lot of work, and so I was curious if anywhere he has stated what he wants to do. As opposed to stating that a rumor isn't true or saying what he's open to.

Thanks so much (in advance) for your responses and please include a link to whatever your citing so the rest of us can catch up.

(if this has already been discussed to death, would you be so kind as to point me to that thread?)

YINYANG

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

He has said that he wants to continue it any way that he can - be it graphic novels (which I believe he is working on; the first one is "Serenity: Those Left Behind"), or a return to televison or movies.

Believe me, he wants this badly. After all, it was a blow to him that the show was cancelled before he had a chance to tell the story.

Now, the only problem is finishing up with Wonder Woman...

Unfortunately, I have no link: but, check the quotes that appear at the top of the screen here on this site, and watch the DVDs of the series and movie with commentary. This should remove the doubts.

He really hasn't expressed a preference for form (movie vs. series)?

Because series would be a lot more work, but better for us (imho) since ... more.

I was thinking that if there were a specific goal in mind, support from flans might be more effective. People work better on a specific goal.

Thanks for the response -- I will watch the quotes up top -- only problem is that there isn't a date for the quote, so we don't know if (whatever is said) reflects where he's at now.

My understanding from reading/viewing interviews with Joss is that he'd like to continue telling stories in this universe and he'd LOVE to work with these actors again but he's not optimistic that there is interest from the studio (he's used the "I'm waiting for the phone to ring" phrase a few times). I think he's pretty much said he's only interested in movie sequels at this point, don't know if that's more because of legal issues and other logistics or if that's personal preference.

What YinYang said was Joss's attitude pre-BDM.

Exactly.

I haven't heard either way, but I'm inclinded to agree with you. I imagine this is due to F*X. I've heard that he's stated that he'll never work with them again b/c of what they did. This would rule out a series as F*X owns the rights to that.

Now, Universal owns the rights to movies. So, we may see more of those. But, then again, although the movie did break even, it was hardly breath-taking. So, that is unlikely.

I'm inclined to believe that we've seen the last of Nathan, et al playing our beloved characters. Of course, I'd be happy if I'm wrong.

What makes you say that? Not arguing, just asking. Because he made a comment on one of the DVDs that this was the best job he ever had, and (I think) the best job he can ever imagine having.

Has something changed his mind? Or is his scheduling getting tougher?

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Nathan "he". He did state on the DVD interviews that this was "The best job I've ever had. The best job I have ever had." And I think he also said something along the lines of that always holding true.

Ok.

Well, the "he" in the post that I was refering to was Joss. I wasn't saying anything about the willingness or anything about the actors. All I was saying is that I don't think the next thing will happen and as such, Nathan et al will not be seen playing our beloved characters.

So, I guess this kinda makes the questions regarding Mr. Fillion moot. At least, I think it does.

At any rate, if I've inadvertently dodged the question, let me know
