OK we were pondering the differences in what constitutes " attractive"... So folks, what do you find physically attractive?

I think it's nice that everyone has a different idea of attractive and you can kind of see how there's someone out there for everyone:)

Attractive Hmmm......

The eyes. Gotta go with the eyes. First thing I always notice on a person. Granted I do not usually keep eye contact for very long. (Kinda shy). But it is usually what gets me to start looking at the rest of the person.

Don't know why, just always been that way.

Not sure I'm the person to ask, since every other Buffy fan in the 'verse fell madly in love with Spike while I fell for Xander. I did the same with the Anita Blake books, if anyone's familiar with those. All the girls fall madly in love with Jean-Claude, whereas I fell for Richard.

I like my guys in all shapes and sizes, truth to be told, and that's only going by looks. For example, I know Adam is a hottie but I could never fall for Jayne. Ever. He's crude, he's rude and there's not a whole pile going on between the ears.

I suppose it's the crude and rude that puts me off the most, and the violent. I really liked Groo on Angel. Yeah, he wasn't the sharpest tool in shed, but he was so sweet!

Kelkhil- ok but what kind of eyes ( that's kind of what we're getting at) Is it the color of the eyes, the shape, the look in them???

Desktop- looks like you and I are at the opposites ends ( so to speak)
I love Jayne preciesly because he's rude and speaks his mind even when it's totally out of line...I suppose the best description for a guy I'd fall for is the description given of Lord Byron
"He was mad, bad, and dangerous to know"

I don't know. Never been the same style twice. It is just something that I see in them. Never been able to explain it. Kinda drives people nuts too. To be told that they have beautiful eyes. Then when asked why you just can't explain it to them, just that they are beautiful.

As far as afterwards. It is all personality. Sure I have my physical lusts but it all starts with the eyes. Not matter what direction it takes. If I do not like their eyes I do not like them.

I have had conversations with friends about the latest hottie and been told I was crazy for not "wanting" them. Especially when my sole reason for it is because I don't like their eyes.

I guess I am a freak!

I can definitely see your point DH. What turned me off though about Richard and Xander was the fact they both have trouble understanding that the world isn't always black and white. Which often meant they came into conflict with other in their lives (i.e., Buffy and Anita). So I guess that leads me to something I find attractive, a person that has an open mind.

Can't say that I like rude women and all, but women seem a bit too comfortable with me. Can't stand hearing most of the things some say and do. And the noises some make are far worse than any man I know. Is that wrong?

Oops, sorry. Got carried away singing. Nice song, MSG. Makes me smile.

Uh-oh, I was being judgemental in the last thread. Didn't mean to be. There is just a "closed, small, beadyness" to features that I don't like. And then I was looking at the Megan's law website and a lot of those guys seemed to have that look. Cold, dead, beady eyes. Etc.

Wait, wait. I always picked Xander. Xander over Angel. Xander over Spike. That is until Nicky got married and gained weight. Yes, I'm superficial, but it was all about Xander until season 4, then, not so much.
(Angel lost some appeal when he gained weight as well.)

NV- have to say eeeeeeeew what is wrong with the women you know?? There is definitely such a thing as feminine mystique and you should really strive to preserve that. I'm not saying be fake, just don't do something gross around someone. I mean the golden rule is treat others like you would treat yourself NOT treat others as if you are by yourself. I guess it's a feminine and masculine mystique.

Well RugBug, I've never minded a bit of weight to my guys. Give me more to hold And while they're larger than a lot of guys on American TV, they're still very much in shape.

I agree that Xander and Richard have a slightly skewed world view. Plus they both have fairly explosive tempers. *remembers Xander going after Spike with an axe* And they've both made poor choices. But then again, what guy hasn't? Spike was evil for ages and Jayne seems to care more about money than anything else!

Personality...It's always about personality with me. There has got to be sweetness in a person somewhere. Somthings it's not that obvious but it's got to be there. After that I usely enjoy someone smart and nerdy. But I'm trying to get over that one cause they're generally selfish jerks under all the nice. Forgot about the physical part. I don't really care. However I've been noticing men that are much taller than me and a bit squishy lately. Not fat just squishy.
----------------
I tried intentionally flirting this weekend...it didn't work. That was disheartening but I'm over it. Shouldn't try to date within your own social circle anyway. Small town's arn't the place for that. I don't want to end up ruining the places I go for fun.

Now I wouldn't say Jayne cares about money more than anything else. He's definitely motivated by money, but I'd say he cares more for Mal's approval than money and In Heart of Gold he really went for it when he found out they were hookers and didn't care if he got paid:)

Comfort seems to facilitate good and bad things. I've been told my several women they'd been afraid to tell me things because they were afraid I'd be disappointed in them. Am I just some gorram father figure that needs to approve of everything? What the F is up with that?
Seems this is my life and I gotta accept it. But can't I just be thought less of just once? Said it before. Thats why all the assholes get all the play. No one cares what they think and they're easy to get rid of. I can be an asshole.
Okay, maybe not really.
Calm is seriously damaged now.
Lets see, things to work on:
Boastful attitude, proud sensibilities, strong sense of conceit, manipulation, etc, etc. It takes too much work to be an A-hole.

On the Jayne thing-
I think he is more motivated by livin' rather than money. Women, money, action. These things are the spice of life. (All of the things I miss so much!) Take it all in while you can. Life is short. Smell the roses. Say everything that needs to be said. Be true to your feelings. All these things describe the character of Jayne.

I wanna be the one who blows everyone off and goes to the spa instead of helping...sadly that's just not me, but hey I could work on it. I still say my Vegas idea would work... I know a really great strip club. Ok imponderable ..road trip to Vegas ( where we will truly test the limits of the " what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" slogun.)

Forgot about Vegas.

Think I'd try some of the ranges (hear there's a nice one in Boulder City). Maybe a nice Starsky and Hutch sort of tour. Just gotta get the Rez rod runnin'. Good thing is that there are few police officers on the streets. Bad thing is there are cameras everywhere. That'd be one hell of a pile of tickets in the mail.
Not much for strip clubs. Sure there's pretty women and alcohol, but it just don't seem to be that much fun. I'd like to check out the music scene (Local bands, House of Blues, Hard Rock Cafe). And definately racing. Drag racing. Not that P*^^$ NASCAR stuff. Okay, maybe a little NASCAR. And I'd have to see the Shelby factory. Maybe go for a "Test Drive" in one of the Cobras.
Might even try out some clubs, just for giggles.

TRAVELER

By the time I get to post on one of imponderables you have some many topics I don't which one to respond to.

What I'm attracted to.
I'm going to answer this as if I really have not talked to the woman yet. In other words think as if I saw her from a distance and know nothing about her.

I like slender women. Dark straight hair. The picture in my signature is a good example. I'm only 5'6" my self so I like woman who are short so I can see them eye to eye.

Speaking of eyes. I like dark eyes. Gives them a sense of mystery to me.

If I can get back before the subject changes to much I'll try to dicuss Jayne.

Take care everyone.

I want to get a WWJD (What would Jayne do)shirt from there but I do not like the answers that they put on them.

Mine would be WWJD in big bold letters on the front.

On the back it would say: Sure would be nice if we had some grenades don't ya think!

Good fun there!

NVG - As far as changing to get the girl. Don't bother. If you cannot land her with who you are then who needs her anyway! Sooner or later you would hate yourself or she would decide that she is ready for that guy that you used to be before you changed and then where would you be? Same crick, same boat, different paddle that's where. I had the same thoughts when I was single. In the end I did not have to change. It might have took a little longer but I found my happiness. (Shh don't tell her though)

OK somewhat annoyed. In the space of one 25 min lunch, one of the older teachers has pretty much decided I'm a greek goth. I am wearing a black shirt and by chance do happen to have on dark red polish and lipstick ( mainly 'cause my nails need re-doing and dark polish covers that better)and I happened to mention going to the greek festival this weekend. nothing like a little snap judgement there! Not insulted, just irritated that he'd pidgeonhole me so quickly with no real basis.

Found another unattractive thing. This one actually takes talking to the girl I guess. A deep voice. This speaker was very attractive physically but she had a deep voice and I don't think she smiled once. Totally turned me right off. I want a girl who is actually able to let go and have some fun once in a while. Granted that could just be her professional, at work demeanor (sp?) or something. Still it made me recoil in terror.

Older in age, seniority, or both? Confront the teacher respectfully with your concern. If no quarter is given, then flog the bastard senslessly until he cries like a little sissy bitch. Sorry. Just had a few judgemental teachers in my day. My favorite was a younger teacher who also coached various girls athletic teams. He seemed a bit too friendly with the females in the school. Anyhoo, one day we really got into one hell of an arguement. He mentioned a news story from two months earlier in the local news. The people just happened to be my uncle and stepdad. Sure scared the hell out of him when I charged up and stared him down. I couldn't help but tear up and walk away. From what I'm told he was boastful over his "victory" for about two seconds. An older friend of my younger sister did the same as I had. Only she told him that the men involved were my stepdad and uncle. They were dead and his overprivledged ass had no clue what he was talking about. Despite his high toned attitude, I excelled in his Sociology class. I always had input for all things discussed. Aside from seeing High School as a joke, he is one reason I left. Be careful how far you let a peer judge you in your line of work. People who can judge their peers so readily are capable of really raining shit on the young folks you teach.

aye, but Byron was a drug addict and did very naughty things with his own sister, so you be careful to define what you mean by mad, bad and dangerous...

I like presence in a guy. I always fall for the most commanding guy in the room, i suppose i like the alpha male vibes. But they are very hard to describe.

I am shallow, so i like the large, semi-muscular (in the Wash sense, i.e, average just not a slob) ones, and they have to be attractive to me.

My range of things i find attractive though is v. broad and wildly varying.

I have managed to identify some characteristics that crop up again and again though.

Large or wonky noses.
Broad shoulders.
Sarcastic, dry wit.
Stylish.
Broody eyes (as in, deep, dark and devilish) and a loud laugh (they have to be together, i think i like the contradiction)
a great car

ok, kidding about that last one.

of course, all the guy i've ever been with only managed one or two of those, the one i wanted to stay with managed four (he was only young, he had time to learn the style one)

when i find the whole list i'm capturing him and dragging him back to my home, and he will be mine forever, bwah ha ha ha haaaaaaaaa...

ok, i've had sugar today, can you tell?

NV- well that teacher sounds like an insensitve lout who should have been fired! This older ( guessing mid 60's) teacher is just an idiot so I didn't figure on blasting him. However, he gets in my way and I will drop kick him across the parking lot. I like my mother's saying, " I can go with you, around you, or through you , but I'm going so get used to it."

Seryn- I'm big on alpha males here so no explaination needed. Not really meaning Byron, just the general Byronic hero. ( not a huge believer in druggies and incest as an attractant) However, wicked and wild...oh yeah!!!

I've had friends laugh at me because I said large breasts just seem to get in the way. Don't get me wrong. I love the livin' hell outta them. But the fake ones really seem a bit awkward to the touch.
Natural is the way to go ladies. I understand asthetic issues, but love who you are. That is the most attractive quality of a woman. Love for self and others.

I really don't see breast as the main thing to look for. Usually just proportional ones are key. Which most women seem to have anyway. Too big can be as much of a problem as too small IMO.

My personal preference is the small woman. I'm talking about barely five foot tall lady, and proportionally petite in other relevant areas. Hell, I figure pretty much anything over a B-cup is just too much. That said, I don't want them anorexic. I knew a woman who was of a quite healthy weight, who professed a desire to have 'stick legs'. Her words exactly. It took a while, but I finally got her to ditch the diet before she got herself killed. Man, the people I know have problems...
And I'm a sucker for blue eyes. Don't know why, but almost every woman I was enamored with had them.

And naturalness. That and the naturalness.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I don't think I've gotten to post on this thread yet! Aw man!
So what are we talking about? I weighed in on the what puts me off thing last thread. What's this about Vegas? Might be fun, might be scary. I might go one day.
for Copilot.
I could say I resist changing all the time in order to get dates, but it's not true. I don't have to resist it because I just can't do it. My self will always come out. It's the fire in me; you can't keep fire chained or locked up
Hope things are okay, Tristan!
I've noticed my voice being pretty deep lately. Sometimes it's higher and more girlish, but I've almost always had a deeper than average voice. It gets higher and lighter when I'm feeling good. Maybe that's the problem. Very little is going my way right now. I have two really good friends (friends I see in the flesh) and both of them are dealing with a lot right now, and I barely see them anyway because of my schedule. And as Kaylee would say, goin' on six months now... Well, you know the rest. Anyway, I do have a fairly deep voice, but I don't think it's manishly deep.
Anyway, still talking about attractive, this time what we like! Well let's see now, I know I've talked about this before, maybe I can come up with something new. Hmmmmmm, soft hair and skin. I'm big into petting. I've gone for the dark-haired dark-eyed men, but seem to go more for light eyes and hair. At least, I've been with more light-colored men. Maybe not attracted to them more, though. I have mostly been in love with/crushing on darker-colored women, though. Not sure if that's coincidence or not. Probably not. I like a certain solidity to my men. They don't have to be big, but solid; someone I can just lean against and get all comfy. I like a nice smile and an easy laugh. Different things will appeal to me physically in different people. I'm not all that picky where there's that one feature I always go for. Though oddly enough a big thing I'm drawn to is how someone walks. That isn't always linked to how they're shaped, though, but there're certain kinds of walks that I find really attractive. The bouncy stride, I guess. I also like the more natural look. I don't get turned off by big breasts like Vinter, but fake ones are a different matter. They've got no give, ya know? I happen to know that large natural ones have quite a bit of give. But my bust measurment matches my hips pretty closely. I'm not a big women, but I'm certainly not tiny. Strange that I also tend to be attracted to women who are smaller than me (with a few notable exceptions).
Wow, I have rambled. I'm all over the place. Maybe I should eat something.

WHITEFALL

OK, post-of-the-day Whitefall is back for week 2.

Well rehearsal was a bit nasty, but we might just pull our together for final dress. Besides, considering we only have 70 seats, we may well just sell out all three nights regardless.

I'm proud of my self: for a few hours this morning, I did that classic writer thing of jotting down everything that comes to mind, just for the practice. Was really quite cool: and then I got homework, and it stopped cause I should be doing that. in fact I should be doing that right now, I've got a large civics thing for thursday, and no time between now and then to do it because of the show. Why o why cant school deparments ccmmunicate and stuff... Oh well. I'll muddle through somehow.

As for my dare-i-say childish declaration of love, the student in question, well... I dunno, it's nothing really. There's no relationship beyond friendship, but still talking to her makes me happy n all. Eh, whatever, sorta a busy week for our illustrious lighting designer/varsity volleyball player, so not a ton of time for the idle chat. Meh, always next week.

Here's an imponderable, tho i know i've covered it before. Something I wrote in those notes about a (different) friend of mine, past few days she's been wearing spaghetti straps, and gosh darns it, it bugs me. I wrote that in my notes, this feminism paradox, that of course ya all have the right to wear whatever the hell you want, but on the flipside, I don't want to let the pervertedness of my mind distract me from my friend, so... argh. Stupid imponderable paradoxes and stupid males.

Eh, men are pigs, avoid them alltogether.

Discuss, and see thee all upon the morrow night.

Now, I need either sleep or civics.

I love Jayne preciesly because he's rude and speaks his mind even when it's totally out of line...I suppose the best description for a guy I'd fall for is the description given of Lord Byron
"He was mad, bad, and dangerous to know"

Would it make you jealous to know that I have been in Lord Byron's bedroom...? (OK - he'd been dead for many, many years - but still - the fantasy angle...)

I lied! I just realized I lied here and I am sorry! I always ruttin' forget this until I really think about it: Lips! The really full lips get me every time. I find it difficult to be attracted to someone with thinner lips.
Yes, this random thought occured to me and I had to rush over and post. Dear me.

Hello there, sweet magda. Looks like I missed you. Sad me...

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

OK - here goes - when it comes to fantasy it's quite different to the real thing - My fantasy object is totally Jayne - I mean I always thought Adam was drop-dead-gorgeous but I mostly thought oooooh - he's cute and such a good actor (which he so is) but when I 'found Serenity' the whole 'Jayne thing' just hit me where it... you know... has total effect! I don't watch Adam in other things and get shivers dawn my spine - but, with 'Jayne', there's a look, a physical stance or something he says and I just disolve... mmmmmmmm... I might also be a little like that about 'Captain Jack' too... 'bad boy' Johnny Depp - he never did anythig for me in '21 Jump Street' or 'Edward Sissorhands' - but 'Chocolat'! Oooooooh... (I'm showing my age too, aren't I?)

I once heard that a lot of women admit to having 'rape fantasies' and at the time I was outraged that someone had made that claim, and couldn't imagine any woman having gone with that as a fantasy. Over time (& with experience), however, I realised it isn't being a victim of actual rape that's the fantasy - it's the "I have no choice but to be ravaged by you - you big, strong, masculine man" fantasy that makes more sense because women had every reason to keep themselves 'pure'! (at least until about 40 years ago when contraception became a woman's choice and not the sole responsibility of men... still the stigma remains...)

OK - so my ideal fantasy man is Jayne! (or 'Spike', 'Angelus'...) It's sort of "Take control of the situation, gorramn it! N' give me no option but to be ravished, right here...right now!"

My 'in the flesh' man is so way different - I want a relationship on several levels, so I guess the first thing I notice is warmth, eye contact, smile, personality, body language - I am very tactile so I need physical contact, someone intelligent and funny and fun and undertanding of my silly ways... and yes, brown eyes have had the biggest impact on me! (that and the voice - I have crushed on so many actors I know because they have a voice I could listen to in the dark forever!!)

So - in TV/movie terms my ideal man is more of a 'Mr Universe' or 'Mal Reynolds' or even 'Dr Simon Tam' (though he's a litle too... uncertain for me) or, 'Xander Harris' coz of his loyalty, and his tendency to make a fool of himself in the interest of attempting to impress girls - there has to be an element of risk-taking, that is so sweet and kind of sexy too... a shy-ish guy making a move whether he's sure of your response or not... I was totally in love with Michael Biehn's character in the Terminator... but then I was 17! (Oh - those eyes!)

I guess growing up in the theatre I am really aware if someone is 'laying a line' on me - or that there is a lot more to the personality than just the appearence of a man when it comes to attraction... For example - I lusted after Colin Firth when I saw him in 'Pride and Prejudice', but I also saw him play a drunken womaniser in a BBC production of a D H Lawrence story and I longed to help his poor, suffering wife kill the bastard - and all in the same week! That sums up personality over physical attraction for me I think!

End of ramble... so what's happening in Vegas y'all?

Hi Gorgeous Phoenix Rose - just answered your email - were we just 'post-lapping' agin?

Love you all - Magda x x

Magda- I couldn't have said it better myself ( with regards to the Jayne attraction)

Whitefall- break a leg opening night darlin ( ok all those who aren't theater know that wishing an actor good luck is BAD!)

NV, et all- hey I have a natural DD cup and they do get in the way. They put strain on my back and since I'm tiny except for them I look really out of proportion. So my two cents is big boobs suck!

As for the what women are wearing...is it just a distraction issue or does it bother you on a modesty level??

I choose to rise instead of fall- U2

I think with Jayne that it's the bad boy, aggressive, take no prisoners, take no bs, in your face honesty, combined with the very gentle way he is with women. He obviously likes women and ( if Heart of Gold is anything to go by) is good in bed.

Yeah - I so know what you mean about the 'DD' cup MsG! Thanks for the affirmation too - I realised how huge my post was after I'd done it, but I couldn't think how to put it in a less wordily fashion...

And may I add 'chookas' to that from me Whitefall? It usually is a good indication that the show will go well if you don't 'peak' too soon! Opening night should have a few nerves - and you'll hit your straps for the other two nights then! for you too! (& good luck with the 'illustrious lighting designer/varsity volleyball player' - cast parties are always good for a pick up! - when I was at high school cast party night meant playing a game where all the girls and guys put lispstick on and kissed one another and you'd see how many kisses you got on your cheeks etc. If you wanted to really kiss someone - you just moved at the last minute! They'd hit your lips and get the message!)I am corrupting the youth of America...

Oh - and to imponder your clothing related thing - I think that harks back to 'When HArry met Sally' is it possible for a man to be friends with a woman without wanting to sleep with her - once upon a time I'd have said yes, of course, but most of my closest male-friends of the past have either been gay or have... er... made advances when they were drunk so... I think you need to just get used to the fact that women are supposed to be attractive to you, and look past that!
