OK so here's an imponderable for you folks. Is it acceptable or unacceptable to go to more social activities with a SO than you would normally go to by yourself? By yourself still can mean meeting up with a group of friends...you're just single at the time.

Now for the backstory on that. So, there's a music festival in town and I'm not big on live music. It takes me a few times of hearing a song before I can even decide if I like it. So, hearing a bunch of songs I don't know really doesn't do much for me. So, I said that I'd go just as soon as my friend got the girl I'm interested in to go. (this was meant mostly as a joke but has a lot of truth to it) At this point the friend flipped out and said I shouldn't change just for some girl. That it would make me whipped and a tool and all other manner of bad things. Of course you can guess that I disagree. Still I want to hear other opinions on this one.

MSG, it's been awhile since I've had an endive salad... *sigh*

SpaceAnJL, if your curry can bring tears to the eye, then it's authentic.

LA29, thank you again for the muffins. Love pumpkin anything!

Magda, MSG hit it on the nose!

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

See now, Zeek, the thing is that you aren't 'changing' for a girl if you go somewhere that she's likely to be because you're interested in her. If you were married, say, and your wife dragged you somewhere you didn't want to go, that would be different.
I'm like you, BTW. I love live music, but only if I know the songs

*tries a pumpkin muffin* Thanks, darlin'! Mighty tasty!

Well - as a wise friend once told me - lust is a powerful motivator! Not that I am saying your motives for getting to know this girl are not pure - just that it can be fun to push the envelope and try new things and being interested in a member of the opposite sex can be a good impetus for doing that!

Rose: ...Weird stuff abounds, don't it? I broke one of those fiddly bones in my foot only a few days ago. Still hurts like hell, but it's not like it can be cast or bound, so I live with it. And I also feel your canker pain situations. Because of the way my teeth are, I get them fairly frequently.

LA: Glad we could be of service.

Mag: Einstein was the first to say time is relative. I agree with him. When I first got onto the internet, I was a sixteen year old pretending to be 21. Now, I'm 21 and I still feel as if I'm that 16 year old who didn't know the first thing about anything. The only wisdom I've gleaned in the five years is that I don't know jack.
Don't really know how that applies, but when I start writing, the words just have a mind of their own...

I'd talk more, but I've got a Biology lab that needs attending.

Zeek- I think you should stop being friends with such a tool!!! What is this guy's problem. You aren't really interested in the concert, but you are interested in being around when the girl you like is, as a way to get to know her. I'm guessing your friend is somewhat insecure and feels insulted that you wouldn't go to the concert to be with him , but you would to be with this girl ( ipso facto you must like this girl more than him , says his crazy insecure, jealous, mind) and so he flips out and calls you names... tell him any guy who wouldn't make a few sacrifices to spend time with a girl he's interested in is a major tool and every woman you have polled thinks so...

EDIT- James the sad part is the older you get the more you realize that you will never know Jack....sad but true jack is an elusive man ( just kidding here andmainly what I'm trying to say is we all discover the more you learn the more you realize the less you know)

yep the way I see it is that if I'm going to do something that might turn out to be really boring then I want to be with somebody that can hold my attention and keep me entertained on their own. Not that my friends aren't entertaining, but it's just not the same. Plus it is some nice encouragement to be more social. I just don't see it as a problem and my friend sees it as a major problem.

again I'd say he's really insecure ( guy who run around calling others whipped etc are usually guys who'd love to be whipped if they could ever get a girl interested) he's probably hurt that you won't go for him since I doubt he's got much else in his life. If it's not insecurity talking then he's simply a serious a**hole and you should run him over with a small, light weight, foreign car.

Ha James - I have broken a bone in my foot - twice - it is silly that you cannot set it - but you have to walk on it and take care not to hurt it more... and I understand the whole 'being someone a little different' it took me a while to realise I was just being myself here - at first I think I was projecting so many sides of myself that it must have taken a few people quite a while to get to know me... then again...?? I'm confuzzled!!

Oh - and I would like to add my vote to that poll too - thank you sweet MsG!

Awww - it's 2am - and I should be getting to bed!!

Edit - I 2nd that edit MsG - I spend most of my time thinking someone is going to find out what a fraud I am about all sorts of things - I just convince people that I am worth listening to, know what I'm doing/saying... have a clue what we're pondering...

That would be the green chili. I have milder curries. Alternatively, I'll post my chilli jam recipe. Or the thai green curry sauce.

If I went for my own ethnic background, you'd have Scots-Irish, Norman French and a dash of the East End.

*edit* Awwwwwww, magda also broke a bone in her foot? Yeeks! And she's going to bed! sleep well, jie-jie.

I think I'll be making the CBR( chicken broccoli rice) as my husband calls it. it's garlic/lemon chicken on a bed of rice and fresh steamed broccoli covered in a tangy sauce made with sharp cheese, lemon zest, mayo, sour cream, and little bits of broccoli run through the food processor all creamy and nice.

On the subject of toes - dislocated two year before last. Didn't break 'em, just popped 'em right out of their sockets. All limp and floppy and right-angles...

It hurt.

Happy thought - home from work soon, then I'll try and post some yummies.

SpaceAnJL, I am a fan of strong curry sauce...but I can't bring myself to eat anything involving green chili for some reason..

Night, Magda! Sweet dreams!

MSG, strangely enough, I have made something very similar to tonight's menu...shredded chicken, cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup, rice, and lots and lots of shredded cheddar cheese...but yours sounds much better! *sigh*

Zeek, I have nothing to add that hasn't already been covered properly by everyone else. Sorry I missed that one!

Ooh, it's lunch time! Be back in a bit.

We ponder everything. I know that's a bit broad, but there it is. Usually, if there is something that you do not understand about the opposite sex, or a situation requiring clarification, this is the place to ask. We are all knowledgeable on the subject (for the most part ) and enjoy discussing everything. Just jump right in!

Tristan - all fresh curry sauces use fresh green chilis. Unless they use those dried red Kashmiri evil things...

Gonna find you a good rogan josh recipe.

Wow, I fell asleep for an hour or so & look at all the ponderings !

MSG-I ordered the onesie from Read My Chest at Cafe Press. I also got a shirt that says "shiny" & one that says " you can't take the sky from me" .All of them are nice & relatively inexpensive.

I'm off to make dinner for later -Sweet & sour chicken w/pineapple w/ white basmati rice & steamed broccli.Yum.Even the space monkeys eat that one.
Tristan, the dish you made is one of my kids favorites !

I just had mangoes a bit ago, or I would be tormented with the thought of yummy foods as well! Though I'm not the biggest fan of chicken. Unless a lot of garlic is involved.

Oh my, it's late
I'll see you all later
Hope I helped some, LA29. You hang in there.

Ok, cool. I know alittle about the birds and the bees. I'm not very experienced in that stuff, but I do know a lot. Also, even though I don't have a degree in psychology, I do seem to know how people tick and what leads them to do things and solutions to help. I'm really good at that.
