Seeings how we have ourselves a fantasy football league I thought we should start up a fantasy hockey league.

I have set one up in Yahoo sports. Here is the link for anybody who is interested in joining.
http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/hockey/

The league ID # is 51085
the password is firefly

Right now it is set up as a Head to Head league with an autodraft, that can be changed to a live draft if we so choose.

You will need to have a Yahoo account of course to join. Hope to see plenty of Browncoats in there.

I'm in, but have no idea what I'm doing. I haven't watched the NHL since the last strike (or lockout, whatever). I don't want to end up with Eddie Belfour or Patty Roy, so some reseach might be a good idea...

I am, of course, a little lost on the scoring. Is it just goals and saves or do other stats count? I'm checking out the rules, but can't seem to find how scoring works or the draft date. Thanks.

You won't find anything exactly, it is a custom league. Stats include but not limited to goals, assists, +/-, penality minutes, short handed points, faceoffs won. And for the netminders it is but not limited to wins, saves, goal against average.

It is a head to head league so for anybody who doesn't know what that is it where two teams face off against each other for a week and whomever has the best stats in a certain category in that time gets 1 win and the other person gets 1 loss. I think there are around 13 or 14 stat categories so after a week one of the two teams may see a record of 6 wins 4 losses and 3 ties. And that goes on and on throughout the entire season and finishes up with a tournament between the top teams to decide the champion.

At this moment there is no official time for a draft, I have it set on auto draft so Yahoo will draft our teams according to our preranks that we can either set ourselves or let yahoo do for us when I set our league status to ready. I can change it to a online draft, but I chose not to because it is hard to find a time where everybody can be online at the same time.

For those of you who wish to prerank your own players simply join the league, then go to your team page and click on the blue link that says something along the lines of "prerank your players."

Hope this answers everybody's questions.

Still have a lot of spots open for Fantasy Hockey. The league will stay open through September, and if there isn't more interest than this it will be cancelled. If that happens then the terrorists will win. Don't let the terrorists lock-out hockey again!!!!

The hockey league has been shut down due to lack of interest and terrorist intervention.
