For the BDM's anniversary, I ordered a copy of the Serenity HD-DVD from Amazon.con (I already have two copies of both the series and the film on regular DVD). And I don't even have an HD-DVD player yet!

OK, a day late, but my newly formed local Browncoats group (Greenville Browncoats) had their first shindig on the 30th. Organised less than a month ago, we still had a third of our membership (5 of 15) show. We watched "Done the Impossible", the preview disc that came with Battlestar Galactica last year (so I could point out the woman I was standing behind at a Chicago pre-screening while someone else was being interviewed!!!), and the 40-minute unaired version of the pilot episode "Serenity". Two of our number had to leave after that, but the rest of us settled in to watch "Serenity". Good folks, good food, and Firefly. Can't beat it!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

We watched Serenity at home Saturday night. Saturday we spent several hours posting fliers, doing some guerilla marketing at local stores facing out Serenity & Firefly, facing the novelization & RPG books, and doing what we could to point people towards the dvds. We got through to some people, and even met a browncoat who was not aware of the online communities or our local group.

I initially wasn't sure I'd have an opportunity as I was out celebrating the birthday of one of our sisters (I have 5 and her birthday was really yesterday). I ended up getting home at about 10:30 p.m., so I watched Serenity Saturday night.

MySpace is an area we'll be moving into soon, USMCHellraiser. We had the video contest which just finished recently and we're going to take those vids and use them all across the myspace community. There will be myspace spaces for Firefly that we can all make our friend and in this way we hope to be able to spread Firefly/Serenity all across myspace.

Go to www.bigdamnthankyou.com and check it out!

I watched the whole series and the movie. Sent out a bulletin on myspace and re-did my profile to celebrate. To whom can I send a thank you to? I would gladly do that!

I personally feel vindicated that the stupid family cartoon movie that opened on our weekend made less than serenity. For the weekend they gave us, with the advertising they gave us, WE WERE MIGHTY and all those bozos who say "disappointing opening" only have a leg to stand on when they refer to the relatively short run.

I watched it today and I bought the Soundtrack.

Does that help any?

Yes. Serenity Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is Official Universal Serenity stuff. So Universal gets a cut.

See the Universal logo on it.
