It's finally here. Everyone put on your Browncoats and celebrate!

Heartfelt thanks go out to everyone involved with our beloved movie.

In honor of the 'Versary, let's all go back to when we first joined Haken's so very shiny site and posted our obligatory introduction.

Post here what YOU love most about Firefly and Serenity.

May not be smart, and it may not please you, but you're definitely gonna see what I have to say.

What do I love most about Firefly? Hard to say. I love that it has a real relationship in it (Zoe and Wash) and proves that such a relationship can be just as entertaining as the angsty kind. I love that it has over-the-top characters (Jayne and River) who are made totally believable. I love seeing two siblings who care for each other. I love that the Alliance as a whole isn't evil, but the point is made that they can't control everything, and they make mistakes, and they bungle because they're too huge, and that the idea that you should bring enlightenment to all people just doesn't work because it turns you into an unenlightened monolith who can't get anything done. I love the layers and underlying metaphors that can be found, and the obvious entertainment that embodies the metaphors. I love that many sides of arguments are presented, and there's something for everyone.
I could ramble like this for a good while longer. I'll just stop here.
Happy 'versary!

HAPPY 'VERSARY!! *does the "I've seen so much death" dance again*

My personal Browncoat tale? ('Coat tale...right...haha.) It was not long before I joined this site - back in Feb, was it? Figured I might as well because I was truly obsessed with Firefly, and I deduced that I was truly obsessed with Firefly after the dream I had one night. And in this dream I was on a job with the BDHs, staking out a likely place to pull it off, when all of a sudden I found myself making out with River.

This was the first of many.

I can tell you, she's very sweet when she isn't crazy - heck, even when she is, she can kill you with her cuteness. Shiny kisser, too. After the third or fourth dream where I played tonsil hockey with River, it was *sigh* sorry, Kaylee, but move over....and tell Simon to mind his P's and Q's while you're at it.

And now, time to prepare for tonight's Shindig and hope it channels my unconscious mind again tonight.

Exciting day! (and, as a footnote, if there is anything going on in the Atlanta area would someone please tell me?!)

What I love most about Firefly/Serenity is the love. I'm not a sap, I am bored by most romantic comedies, so it was just incredibly moving to see a show where there was this overabundance of genuine love between the characters. It's not simple, it's not without struggle, but it links every character and it is so powerful it's almost tangible.

I think that's why I'm content to curl up on my couch and absorb myself in the show - I can't find that kind of love in our world.

I'm very smart.

And I totally know what you mean. But, one thing I've discovered over this past year is, nothing says lovin' like a bunch of Browncoats gathering and having a high old time. Hope you get to go to your local Shindig.

Happy Anniversary! Though I am fairly new to the verse, I quickly fell in love with the show and the movie. I created some desktop wallpapers to help celebrate the Big Damn 'Versary!

Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to get a movie, without Serenity I would not have been introduced to the wonderful FireFly 'Verse.

The 'versary is a bit like Christmas. I looked forward to it for so long, and the days just rushed by, and now it's pretty much over...
But still, people, share your stories! Let's make it last as long as we can, right?

[Lurking Since: January 2003]

And so it began...

There was this new show on Fox called "Firefly". It was a Joss Whedon show which meant that it was an automatic "must watch", even if I didn't know what to make of it based on the ads. (Turns out that Fox didn't know what to make of it, either.)

Fox made it all but unwatchable. Never mind the Friday Night Death Slot. It was perpetually pre-empted, and of course, shown out of order. My wife and I concluded that it wouldn't last because it was too good.

There were rumors swirling that it had been cancelled. Then, it was over. Bummer.

Time passed. My wife gave me the Firefly DVD that year for Christmas (2002). When I unwrapped it, I said "Huh." She said, "Waddaya mean, 'Huh'?! You told me that you loved that show!" Into the DVD player it went. It didn't come out until January. I got REALLY bummed about Firefly being cancelled.

Soon thereafter I googled "firefly" and landed in fireflyfans.net. Not only all things Firefly, but the people! An eclectic mix of the eclectic. With the DVD still fresh in my mind, I saw Lux Lucre's "Firefly Park". Stuff came out of my nose. When Lux passed, I saw The Browncoats mourn. I could feel the weight. Now when there is an installment of "Serenity Park" (Huzzah for Stizo!), stuff still comes out of my nose, but I'm reminded of the bittersweet discovery of FFF.net.

Then came rumors and subsequent news of a movie, and I've spent the time since lurking, reading, laughing, and enduring the countdown with The Browncoats. Now it is the week of the premiere, Joss has spoken, and I wait just a little... bit... longer...
