Good Evening!
thank you Magda, I'm feeling much better now, though I'm not going to the art workshop :(

What is this Haven thing, I'm feeling kinda left out.

I'm on my fifth year of French, doing it for GCSE. Thankfully, I've finished my coursework (but I'm not allowed have any help at all for that anyway)now, but I really appreciate the offer tristan, I'll PM you if I ever need your assistance - if that's alright with you.

Just received my Official Companion, I was almost blinded by the shinyness!, only thing is, what do I watch/read first, the companion, or done the impossible?

I agree with PR on the age thing. It's an issue. You can choose to ignore it if you want, but it's there. People change throughout their lives and the younger you are the more change is happening more rapidly. It's hard to think that the older person in the relationship would always like what the younger turns into and that the younger is still looking for a person like the older one all the time too. Which is why it seems much more acceptable for older couples to have more of an age gap.

aaah back at last. I thought that training would never end and I may have made the trainers a bit nuts, but I was profoundly bored since I have already had the training in my old district( in fact the trainer recognized me and wanted to know why in the world I was taking it twice)

ANYWAY- age thing...I think the older you get the less the age gap matters...20 married to a 35 year old is emotionally and experientially incompatible, but a 70 year old married to an 85 year old doesn't seem to be a problem. I really think it isn't chronological age or even maturity level, but whther you are at the same place in your lives ( ie ready to settle down or what have you)I think after a certain age you get to the point where you've pretty much established your sense of self and your values and, most importantly, your general life path. Before then I think it's not the best idea to get married because who you are can change so much and you can't be sure you will change in a way that will keep you compatible with your mate....However, I think if you are both really committed to staying together no matter what and you're really tolerant of each other and respectful of need and compromise well....none of that applies:)

I love my captain

Hmmm. This age conversation has me all turned about on how to respond. See my parents had a 12 year age difference and made a go of it. They had wonderful, passionate, caring, adventurous relationship (by all accounts as I was not present for the first couple of years) for about 15 years. than the fit hit the shan. Things went down hill fast and after about 3 years of emotional problems on my dads part (depression and such) and heavy drinking and partying on my moms part they called it quites. Now my mom has bought a motorcycle and dates men her own age and my dad dates no one and distrusts women.

From that perspective, it wasn't such a good thing. there was a lot of hurt and anger on both sides but still, there were those 15 years of happiness. So I'm not sure I can say it wouldn't work. Marriges involving people of about the same age have gone through a similar dissolution before so I can't completely believe it was the age thing. I just don't know.

As to the coments about daddy/mommy compexeses. Yeah. I know a guy who dated and lived with an older woman for a number of years (and they didn't break up, she died in an accident). And she looked older and was fat. I hate saying that because I'm not what you'd call slender but she looked unhealthy, and I mostly mentioned it because before and after her he has gone for young, attractive, slim types. She didn't seem much like his type.
She was actully the mother of one of his friends who was several years older than him. The friend didn't care fo the situation. She did, however, kind of mommy him. It was wierd seeing him together. One minute they're doing a mother son thing and the next, they're making out.

So I do understand that part. And from the couples I've known I guess I've seen things that will lend themselves to PR's opinion. And PR, I really do respect your opinion, I just can't bring myself to agree with it despite the relationships I've seen.

I have returned.

So I was thinkin' last night of loves past and began pondering how I could have fallen so in love. "The" ex was someone I'd known on and off since she was born (one year younger). So, aside from disagreeing on where to live after gettin' married, we never fought. She aspired to do more than me (wanted to be in the military). Maybe in more than one way I felt she was ment to do more without me. Not that I've done nothing with my life. Reflecting on my work it seems nice to have the chance to slack with little questioning from anyone. And (chuckles) I've achieved third in command at a place I never dreamed of working at. I just wonder what might have been. Is this more prevelant in men or women? I hear more men asking this question than women.

Hmm- I'd say working with kids and helping them be successful and teaching women to protect and defend themselves ranks right near the top of my " doing something with you life" list. As for the reflecting on what could have been, that gene appears to have been left out of my genetic make-up. I'm more of the what's done is done, now keep moving forward sort, but hey reflect away it's really deep and philosophical and all:) Adds to your air of quiet mystery.

Howdy, folks. I'm here to have my 2 cents worth about the mommy/daddy issues.

I'm with PR. The idea of being intimate with a man old enough to be my father is creepy. Sleeping with a man old enough to be my grandfather is well beyond creepy. *shudder*

I've also seen a few folks looking for mommy/caretaker daddy/authority in their relationships, and those folks have serious issues. i'm trying not to think about the older side of that which seems to be have almost a pedophilial context to it. ICK! *scrubs brain out with steel wool*

So thems my 2 cents.

Ok so love that the plumber came and fixed our blocked drain and then "noticed" a leak which I know wasn't there before he fixed the blockage. Called MisterG and he agreed there was no leak and so he's called the company and the guy is on his way back to fix it...It might be sexist, but guys just get a lot more attention on a complaint involving hardware or tools.

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

Ha! Gorramn it! I missed NVG!! Sorry Sweetheart!

I used to work for a cable TV company and one of my best friends was married to one of the tech's team leaders - we all lived in the same area so I'd go and have a drink at the pub with them on a Friday evening (when I wasn't on the late shift!) John told me this story about a lady who had all sorts of problems with her cable TV & they couldn't do the usual trouble shooting over the phone so they had to make a call out...

Well she sounded so sexy on the phone that one of the guys she spoke to commented and she laughed and said she worked as a phone-sex girl! Well you can imagine what happened - it suddenly went from not wanting to send one tech to sending out 3!! 1 team-leader & 2 regular techs - for 'customer relations' reasons you know!

When they got there the woman called out to come in and they found her sitting on the couch and occupying most of it! She was so huge she couldn't get up to show them where the connections were, and when the phone rang she was all deep and sexy and they all had the creeps... Serves them right I say!

Still ... tis sad really...

Edit: Ah... MsG? are they really called 'Rescue Rooter'??... Wouldn't that have connitations over there like it would over here? I wouldn't have thought MisterG would let a gorgeous one like you call in a 'rescue rooter'...??? Maybe it's an Australian thing...???

Time to put in my anecdote. Two friends of mine who are happily married first met when he was teaching a class in uni, and she was one of his students. Incidentally, he was dating one of his other students at the time, but that broke off after he failed her for the semester.

Anyway, there's a 10-12 year age difference between them, but they get on fine. No mothering/domineering/leeching by either of them, so if it works, it works.

Yes, the "die" thing didn't mesh well. But my basic problem with the eyes is they're my daughter's and it seemed like a good idea at first but it's just too personal, having her on display like that in every post so I'm not doing it anymore.

Ok now some pondering. Have you ever felt an inexplicable tug of attraction to someone you didn't really find all that attractive??

For me, that person is Tim Curry. Let's face it, great actor or not, Tim is funny looking ( not talking during Rocky Horror) and for some unexplainable reason, I find Tim's voice so attractive that it practically makes me pant ( which is really weird because visually he's the antithesis of any quality I find physically attractive)

Inexplicable tug of attraction...I'll keep this with the celebrities like you have. Mine is Juliette Lewis. She is not seen as a beauty, and does choose some weird roles, but there is something fairy-like and ethereal about her. It's not a major thing, but it does raise eyebrows when I mention it.
