IMDB has delved into Whedonverse.

And of COURSE they post the one where Joss claims no sequel in the works and not the second post he did in the ensuing chaos.

Friggin IMDB.

It's on the main page, down at the bottom for external links/news.

Well, that's... typical.

Any way to contact them and get them to update this?

I guess they got tired of posting utterly unfounded Wonder Woman rumors and decided to willfully misconstrue Joss Whedon instead. I think IMDB has the internet equivalent of Tourette's syndrom; instead of uncontrolable facial ticks and swearing they are compelled to present wildly inacurate information as truth.

No, it linked to the actual post on Whedonesque, but the link is tagged as:

Whedon: There will be no Serenity sequel

So all they're doing is adding to it. *sigh* And I LIKE IMDB! How dare they betray me like this? Perhaps this is why they have that disclaimer. (IMDb cannot vouch for the user experience provided by external sites)

On the Serenity forums over there, the fans are pointing to the second post by Joss. And trolls are coming out of the woodwork. Half of the posts on this one thread over there was deleted by an administrator.

Does anyone get the feeling that the 'movie industry critics' aren't fond of Browncoats? Maybe because we don't actually listen to them and pick and choose the movies WE ACTUALLY LIKE instead of listening to their idiot reviews and watch what they want us to watch.

God forbid a movie should have a clean story line, defined plot development, believable characters and surprising twists.

I just emailed them and asked them to take it down, or to reword it to accurately reflect Joss's second post. I'm not holding my breath, but I pasted the post into my email, and linked it as well.
We'll see.
IMDB is notorious for being a day late and a dollar short.

But it's the text of the link and not the content linked to that's inacurate so really it is their fault.

Not sure who you mean here. Critics in general gave Serenity rather good reviews. Not perhaps as good as it deserved but still good.

Or are you thinking more in terms of people working in the industry being critical of the movie? Can't say I've noticed a huge amount of hate emanating from Hollywood over Serenifly. Some befuddlement for sure but not so much actual revilement.

I personally think the movie industry critics liked "Serenity", and seemed to be pulling for the movie to do well and by extension since that would please us, I don't think they had anything against Browncoats.

I do think there are genre sites on the web who don't like Browncoats. I think there are bloggers on the web who don't like Browncoats. We seem to be a really polarizing fandom. Maybe they don't like our independent natures?

I read on Whedonesque when the big post of Joss' hit the web and careened out of control several responses by folks that seemed to hint at animosity from certain websites before. I guess we'll just have to attempt to counteract that.

Great idea Mavourneen and just exactly what we all ought to be doing! Whereever we see it reported wrong we ought to politely and firmly insist that they quote the second post with as much passion and speed.

*goes to do EXACTLY that*

Sorry, guys. Let me clarify my 'critics' statement.

Since the internet doesn't relate sarcasm well (stupid text! LOL), I intended a derogatory remark against crackpot joe schmoes who consider themselves movie experts. I got two statements smushed when I intended to separate them. Sorry, the trolls over at IMDB boards got me all riled and I typed too fast to explain myself well. :)

I'm just running across a bunch of sites lately that try to put up a front of professionalism and they're taking things way out of context. I've seen some bad journalism before but it looked like none of them have ever read a statement from Joss before and just posted something online without checking their facts other than to copy and paste a link and a small quote. No one questioned it, they just slapped it up there and that's what annoys me most.

~Kaele

P.S. I think they just don't like Browncoats because we are so very pretty.

Hey, after going over there and reading some of those trollish remarks on that attached forum, I can sure understand the riled up part. Those folks are harsh!

Those websites we're discussing in some cases only quote the parts of Joss' post that related to the worst of what they were figuring. And they seemed to copy and paste from each other in order to hurry and get it out, I suspect. You're right, Kaele, shameful journalism. I hope that Browncoats everywhere will go out and politely and kindly suggest to them that they run the next post by Joss with a statement saying they jumped the gun a little. Only way I know to counteract it and it shows us being positive and capable. Win, win after a bad situation.

I think the problem here is that Joss is not a straight answer type of guy on whedonesque. He says things in Joss speak which isn't very quotable. His second post doesn't really work for a one liner that disputes these articles. The real point is that we know the truth. So, let them spin their lies all they want.
