Nathan Fillion Signs Deal with Fox
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
October 17, 2006

Nathan Fillion (Serenity, "Firefly") has signed a talent holding deal with Fox Broadcasting Co. and 20th Century Fox TV, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Under the pact, the studio and the network will develop a comedy or drama script for the actor. If it doesn't go to pilot, Fox and 20th TV would cast him in an existing project.

Fillion, who most recently appeared in the feature Slither, next stars in White Noise: The Light.

You know, I have this great idea for a show to build around Fillion's talents. It's about this rag-tag group of misfits who tool around the 'verse in an old spaceship...

Does anyone else find it deeply ironic that it's Fox, of all the possibilities, that Nathan signed on with? Oh the horror, the horror...

birds gotta fly, fish gotta swim.....actors gotta work.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Hmmm...Maybe he is a little "Lost"...I know an actor's gotta work, but has he forgotten they kinda screwed him over once already?

Probably not. From what I've seen of what our Captain's said, he won't ever forget. But as said above, an actor has to work. Work is work, face time is face time, and the more folks see him and like him the more opportunity for them to check out his previous works. I guarantee you there will be women ( and men! not trying to be sexist here, just have the most experience with the woman part) who see this show that will check out Firefly/Serenity and be up for more Fillion... whether it be on FF/S related new shows/movies or something else.

Let's hope gorramn FOX does this one right.

I wish our shiny Captain every success and happiness.

I guess that's right...a job is a job, and sometimes you have to put up with a boss that sucks.

Hey, that rhymes with F*X...

I'll bet my employee doesn't always like me either, but my ability to keep my doors open allows him the opportunity to have a job and advance.

That's the part I like for Nathan. We need to see more of Nathan. And he is so deserving of the success. I happen to think we will benefit by our Cappy's successes.

I guess he has a job, don't care much what it is. And when you get it, you got to make due cause you don't know when you might get another. And I like the second posters idea.

Nathan: I got an idea for a show...

Fox Exec.: We are all ears, we can always use new ideas and a fresh show nobody has ever seen before.

Nathan: It's a show set in space, but no aliens, and we ride horses cause not everybody can afford a space ship or a hover car. And I want Joss Whedon to direct it.

Fox Exec.: Sounds interesting, tell me more.

Nathan: Smiles and replies, I got it all planed out.

"There is still a chance," said Glau from Los Angeles. "Joss is busy with other things right now, but we have the option of making more and all of us are under contract to do that. We are all going along, doing other jobs, but always hoping that we will be united again."

*sigh* Sequel or series, I'll take it.

True. I said it was ironic, not bad.

I too wish Nathan every success, especially in all his future Firefly-related projects!

"The people who made the show, and the people who saw the show, which is roughly the same number of people, fell in love with it, a little bit too much to let it go, too much to lay down arms when when the battle looked pretty much lost. In Hollywood, people like that are called unrealistic, quixotic, obsessive... In my world, they're called Browncoats."

If nothing else, the F*X exec who hated Firefly is gone now anyway. Maybe that helps.

Question is now, would you rather see Nathan star in his own Drama or Comedy?

I pick drama. The man's funny but they should utilize his range.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Glad to see Nathan get a deal even if it is with the network that shall not be named. Let's hope that they realize the talent they have on their hands and treat him accordingly.
