EVILBUNGLE

I have been arguing with my wife lately over my obsession with Firefly, she complains that I refuse to delete any of the episodes off my TV planner despite having two copies on DVD (One to keep and one to loan)

Last night she found I had spent loads of money on sending letters to Sci Fi to try and get them to pick up the series and complained that I run into the computer room every hour to vote firefly as the best TV series ever.

Last night she gave me an ultimatum either I give up hope of firefly coming back or else she leaves me, so the advice I need is this...

Should I get a lodger or change the spare bedroom into a cinema room???

EvilB I feel your pain, I think. My wife too does not understand my desire for my FF fix. I began going out late at night. Into dark alleys, seeing guys in long coats (they weren't brown). I began hiding my FF series under my bed or in my tool box. I come to the web and am forced to clear my cache of anything FF or serenity. I will come to Fireflyfan.net late at night telling her I'm going to make a cup of coco. I know at some time I will get caught. I live in fear.

Actually the above post is only a joke. Yes I am a FF addict but the Mrs. just lives with it and laughs at me (like that hasn't happened before) But there will come a day when the laughing will stop. Ooohhhhhhhh yes. The day I pull over and help a fellow motorest whoes car has broken down with a flat tire. When it turns out to be Nathan Fillion that laughter will stop abruptly I'm here to tell you. When he sees my Serenity shirt he will come to dinner and tell us about the secret filming of Serenity 2 and the hush-hush of the taping of the new FF series..ha..ha. Mine is an evil laugh.

I'm not married, but damn that sounds like a tough choice.

Has she seen Firefly? Or is she just not a fan?

If you love her then it's probably best you at least lessen this behaviour around her. And let her know that you mean more to her than Firefly does. (Even if it's a lie)

Then again, advice from a single 17 year old might not be the best thing to listen to.

...dump her; get a lodger. If someone who purports to love you can't understand something you love and care about think what your future holds.

SIRI

I see you are a newbie to Firefly like me. It seems when we get hooked quickly we try to make up for lost time - all these folks who are ahead of us in the game of working to get the FF series back.

If your post is for real and not a joke - I would wonder if she is more upset that you spent time and money without telling her (particularly the money but she may resent the time, too) rather than your FF obsession. Since you've already written the letters and spent the money, maybe you can work out a deal with her. Something like agreeing to let her know before you spend money in the future at the same time asking her to stop trying to control your mind. You might want to find a tactful way to add the control your mind part but in fact, it is your mind. If you are neglecting her and are truly obessing, you might need to back off some.

I live alone so my newfound love and obsession with FF isn't really affecting anyone else in my life. I don't miss work, meals or ignore my responsibilities. That would be a more accurate description of addiction.

Good luck.

MSG

OK serious advice-Just remind her we all have hobbies and yours is this. What hobbies does she have and spend money on? Maybe you can set aside " non Firefly time" and appease her.

Ok non serious advice- ditch the bitch and get yourself a nice big screen tv and surround sound with which to watch Firefly!!!

I choose to rise instead of fall- U2

Well said msg, had a kinda poetry to it.
Seriously now, I can't say I relate to your problem but I think you're gonna have to do as msg said and set aside some "non-firefly time". Worst comes to worst it'll end up becoming "firefly time" but you have to make sacrifices for the ones you love.

Mal-"Well, look at this. Appears we got here just in the nick of time! What does that make us?" Zoe-"Big Damn Heroes, Sir!" Mal-"Ain't we just"
