They are legit.

I emailed them and spoke with him about the items, and they told me they worked on the shows(both Buffy and Firefly) and are selling off a bunch of their things because they are moving and need the money.

I know the person that's selling these items, and I assure you that they are legitimate.

I don't know, I just get a wierd vibe looking at the list of things the seller is selling. Only 3 previous sales in 3 months and now 15 most of them ending in a day? But it might just be me. So no offense intended, unless you are trying to rip people off by selling replicas as originals.

Then don't bid on them. Like I said, I KNOW the person selling them, and it's all legit.

They are in a financial bind and are having to sell off all kinds of stuff that they don't really want to part with just to make ends meet. So instead of accusing them of "ripping" people off, maybe you should keep your childish and suspicious "wierd vibes" to yourself and not make public assumptions and just not bid on the items.

Well, it also strikes me odd that the two people posting supporting the auction both registered on Sunday for the first time on the board, and their only posts are in this thread.

Just something to think about.

I don't get what all this suspicion is about...

It's as simple as this, if you doubt the validity of the auctions, simply do not bid on them.

Is is THAT unbelievable that someone that worked on the show is selling some of their swag?

I am here to support the person selling those items, because they need the money and I thought this would be a good place to let people know that that stuff is up on ebay because I thought there would be an interest. Little did I know that I would just make people learey and suspicous and stir up all kinds of assumptions. Needless to say, I've learned my lesson.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Buffy logo on the Season 2 cap wasn't used until season three.

The actual Buffy show logo has been the same since Season 1, so that is the correct logo for Season 2 on the hat.

The only time it changed is when they tried going to the "BVS" logo during the Season 5 promos, but still used the "original" Buffy logo for the main titles and merch that they had been using since Season 1.

Talking of Firefly merchandise - does anyone know if there are any signed pictures of the cast available for sale anywhere?

Book: “A duel?”
Wash: “With swords?”
Simon: “The Captain's a good fighter, he must know how to handle a sword?”
Zoe: “I think he knows which end to hold.”

First off, NO WAY IN HELL WOULD I BID ON THOSE ITEMS. Why? Because of that wierd vibe. I don't trust people who come to a fan site sign up only to "drum up business" on EBAY. I know nothing about you or your "legit" friends. What I have seen from the pictures on Ebay, I think they are fake. I have seen previous firefly mechandice and they did not look like that. The only thing we have as proof that these are legitamite Firefly memrobillia is the word of the seller who ONLY has a feedback of 3, 1 of which is as a buyer and the other two are for video games. No website, no pictures of crew wearing items. No proof. And now the auction has exteneded from 1 day to 1 week. So either they arn't so strapped for cash or they are trying to milk it for all its worth. Now if my suspisions are so off, PROVE ME WRONG. I could go to a silk screen shop and run off an exact copy of what you are selling. Ask Embassy how hard it is. Finally, it is VERY EASY to be screwed over and screw people over by EBAY and paypal.

PS. You must be as dumb as RIAA to argue with your client base.

I don't know if these items are legitimate or not. But just an interesting point about the crew sweatshirt that allegedly says "Serenity" in Chinese on the front: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14905&item=2192
309427
.

The character used is different from the two characters seen in the pilot on the outside of the ship: 平静 (ping2 jing4, "tranquil").

The character used is 祇.

(The left side has to forms, so it may look different on your browser, http://www.unicode.org/cgi-bin/GetUnihanData.pl?codepoint=7947 )

zhi1; zhi3
meaning: "only, merely, but"

EDITED 4/21/04 TO ADD:
I just found out that in Ancient Chinese it's pronounced qi2 and means "peace and happiness," so I guess it's poetically "serenity."

It's the same Firefly crew jacket that I have, same tags that were on mine.

So, I assume that the other things are legit as well.

Hope that puts your minds at ease.
