I was in the Blue Sun Room and I saw an image, someone had made a Firefly game cover for xbox.
This has given me an idea, picture games like EVE online, Roma Victor, Battlefield 2, CoD2, all the interactive features in them put together in a Role Playing, Action Adventure game "Firefly".

What if we could buy it, install it, register an account, log in, create a character and select a home planet.
Then its from that point we have to shape our character's life.

Either find a ship, or crew to join or buy a ship and start your own crew. Take jobs as they come, or if you can, set up your own buisness or corperation.
You could even join the Alliance as a bounty huner or Fed. Rise through the ranks and Captain your a Warship.
Avoid or Fight Reavers.

The game could be online so Crews could be made up of real players.
Design and build your own ships or buy them and upgrade them.
Ships could include the Firefly class Transport.

Before you have enough money to buy your own ship, you could take jobs on your planet first.

Now the part where it includes the interactive features of Battlefield 2 and CoD2. Well what I mean is the Vehicle usage and the Terrain and tactical usage. It could be FFS or 3rd person, or both, walk about your ship, board other ships, and on planets, buildings.
Use hover cars, quad bikes, fed drop ships or any other vehicles in Firefly and Serenity. Use Grappling hooks or equipment which you could buy to do missions and jobs.

Hell you might even have to get a crew member out of jail. You could even be chased by players who chose to play as the Feds.

So what do you say, pressure gaming companies to take this into consideration?

Yeah, when I saw Serenity, I thought 'There must be a video game oft this out there somewhere' and I was shocked there wasn't. You said it well, though, we should have a game. But not a crappy one.

My dad has a game from the early 90s on his shelf called Privateer ... he says its sort of like Serenity, but it sadly wont run on any of our computers. Besides, there's no preachers, companions, or even happy mechanics, so i was a little bummed.

So, well said... In my compy class we are going to being RPG programming so maybe I can conjure up a one-player game for now.

That would be the only game I would play online. Not into them so much, but one like you suggest would get me even less sleep than I get now.

The game Neverwinter Nights can be modified by the players and I know that there is a firefly mod out there. It could be very fun with good roleplaying. I know I would play.

I was thinking something like a cross between,
"Face of Mankind"
http://www.fomportal.com/

"Eve online"
http://www.eve-online.com/

"Pirates of the Caribbean"
http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p21729.htm
(But in Serenity life)

with the interactive features of Battlefield 2(Vehicles and stationary weaponary features), Call of Duty 2(jumping over walls and through windows etc..)

Basicly what I have in mind is a 3rd person(can switch between that and first person) Role Playing, Action Advanture game.
Create your character and develop his/her skills and inventory as you find your way through the Firefly Vers.

I've been looking for a game to give me that sorta Firefly felling.... nothing really hit the exact spot. But if you want some space fun I can recommend the following:

Independence War 2
Starlancer
Freelancer
X-2 The Threat
X-3 Reunion

Anyways, I once wanted to start a Firefly Computer RPG by using Realm Crafter. You could actually get a game up running pretty quickly without even need to know how to program. The scripting is an easy version of Basic, so it takes no time to learn. I might start a project later on, but right now, I'm not gonna start anything.

Yea, its basicly all these sort of games, a game which allows you to be free almost, a game wich allows you to choose what you want to be and allows you to shape that, become a crew member, mechanic, doctor, mecinary, captain, i maen become a fed or politician, buisnesman, govenor of ur own little world. lol

Something like that which allows you to fly in space, walk and run on the ground, walk around ur ship. Fight onboard ur ship or on the ground or hell maybe even in spacesuits lol.

In x-2 you have you spaceships. Only time your out of your spaceship is when you flying around in your spacesuit :D Actually pretty cool. I'd just like the ability to around walk around inside your ship... talking with your crew and stuff. Would be awesome.

Yes you can:

Haven't tried it myself, but it seems to work for many. If you have problems, there are forms at the above site as well.

Have fun

RPG as in the language?

Or as in the game genre?

As in the game genre.
lol
We just need to get the points across that we want it to be a single payment and a free world to do what we want lol.

I really do dislike it when game companies say they will do something and you get to be free.....everyone still ends up doing the same thing lol.

Might be the first and only online game I play.

Well, you can't exactly blame the game company if they allow people to do what they want and then the people don't.

NO what I mean is that, they offer a wide range of gameplay, but people do the same old thing becos that is wot u can only do.

I mean bascily all u do is the same thing and go the same place, but what I hope a firefly verse would offer is different paths, either like Captain Mal and the rest, or join the Alliance, or run your own planet.

I understand what you're saying, but I think that I must point out that you're contradicting yourself here i.e. Offering a wide range of game play implies that people can do what they want, but then you go on to say that they can't.

At any rate, I agree that they are going to have to offer something more non-linear to grab and keep Browncoats.

No no, what i am saying is that in most online games I see companies or at least i see things saying that you can do what you want, shape your own destiny.

But I played some EVE online, and iv talked to people who play many online games, but so far there are none which allow you to do that, as you mostly end up doing the same thing and ending up in the same place, all aiming for the same title.
(EVE online, you could become a Pirate, or you can do missions like everyone else untill you join a corp - I would look for a corp which is active, i mean proper fleet battles and wars)

Now there are a few I can point out which work, Face of Mankind i have not played but sounds good and gives a range of options for what YOU can do.

Now, I think Firefly is a PERFECT chance for these companies to show off, to create something which basicly operates like normal life.
Like you can download or buy, register, create character, then start off trying to earn money, either taking Jobs, finding employment of both legal or illegal sorts, or enlisting for Alliance military, or even staff for some serious building.

Maybe train your character in a particular field like, fire arms, piloting, mechanics, medicine, leadership, religion, companion, trade, buisness, war, money, management etc....

I mean which allows you to follow Mal's path or you can become the next Badger, or the Next Alliance Agent or commander to try and snatch Serenity and her crew (well other outlaws in the game).

What I am saying is that I seen few online games which allow you to do what you want to do, which allow you to shape things your way and give you that feel of actualy being there.
And that Firefly/Serenity is exactly that chance to give us, browncoats and gamers that exact feeling!

Im a big fan of EVE Online ,Freelancer and privateer etc.It will be interesting to see what kind of ship vs ship combat system,if any might be employed.I can just imagine being reavers chasing after other ship and using a magnetic grapler or blowing out their engines or something. Then forcing your way on board and taking the ship. Then you could make it your own or maybe tow it back to base and sell it or salvage it.

Also it would cool to see the different jobs characters could do or specialise in.It would be great to be a wrecker and go exploring for old boats to pull apart, even go scrounging in the alliance scrap yards.Or you could even be like the guys from Our Mrs Reynolds and catch ships in a net.

Another thing is the time in which this is set.It could in fact occur before our BDHs come together, like it could take place during the war for inderpendance and players could choose what side they are on.This could lead to really cool missions like protecting browncoat convoys or raiding alliance ones, not to mention all the ground combat.

BTW ,anyone know any active browncoat corps in EVE Online?

All I can think of though with a firefly MMO, is how are they thinking they can deal with death?

Browncoat EVE corp though? If not sounds like a good idea.

Thats an idea, i hear about wars and story lines on EVE online, and Corporations start wars with each other.

I mean, think about it, it might not be a set story at all, it might not be an exactly time period but an ever changing one, as in there could be a war, a second one, who knows lol.

lol if that did happen it would probably be really unbalanced......everyone would want to be a browncoat .poor alliance would be short on recruits

Thats why the Admins bring in more AI characters.....all characters can be killed during the game....of course if would only be fair to allow them to respawn somewhere or be healed (re spawn at a hospital) lol

Oh course it would be hard to master this as careful planning would be required.

So the designers would have to create the game to it is alot better for a player to take a ship, as you then can make it your own, sell it , scrap it etc..... (create your own fleet), as these options would not be available if you were to destroy it.
So when your ship is taken you are either taken prisoner and get given the option to (join their crew or be left on some moon).

Just there are so many twists as if making it so if you die, you spawn somewhere wud be totaly unrealistic, but respawning somewhere and starting from stratch......would just piss people off! lol

so, err, where were we before i started babbling on?
Oh yea
Im sure some people would create two characters, like EVE online you can create I think 4 characters, so you could be a Browncoat, or join the alliance or do what ever you wanted tbh.
