well.. will wonders never cease?

BE relaunched their website

here is the link to a forum on the flan cancellation

http://www.boosterevents.com/Community/Forums/tabid/326/forumid/54/pos
tid/39311/view/topic/Default.aspx

notice it is started by Vicki who supposedly divested herself of her interest in Booster...

the post says:
"12/10/2006 9:13 PM Quote Reply Alert
Booster Entertainment would like to apologize to everyone for the great inconvenience that was imposed on all this past weekend. We understand everyone has questions, which we will try and answer in a timely fashion. The website has been put back up per customer request.
We again apologize for our poor notice in the cancellation of the Flanvention.
Booster Entertainment will not answer personal emails nor PMs, but will answer everyone in the open forums. Please do not post foul language or threats as those posts will be deleted. Please also allow for the heavy site traffic in waiting for responses.
Sincerely,
Booster Entertainment "

Other sites are reporting that the BDH's said they NEVER were officially contracted to appear...

IF that is true, and I suspect there is a lot of information come, then there would be a question of fraud.

SHAMELESS

How ridiculous. This isn't in the news section or the front page, but shoved into the forums. Easy enough to find for somebody who's stubborn/lucky enough, but something like this should be a little more... right in front. Obvious. Etc. And an official statement? No, this isn't an explanation. Why they must be asked questions on a forum in order to explain the fiasco doesn't make sense. It's pretty gorram obvious what everybody wants to know - it doesn't take a mind reader or even a ruttin' Q&A session to figure it out.

This, plus the ridiculous financial situation and the communication issues between the BDH's and BE, just screams FRAUD.

------------------------------------------
RPG launcher bought in third world country illegally - $10
Landmines - $50 per
Attack/track dogs bred 1st class - $250-500 per
Highpowered assault rifles - $600 per
The look on your face when I show up on your doorstep with a bigfoot - ... Priceless

When watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in theaters:
In the Shrieking Shack, with Sirius Black (Quote #1) and Harry Potter (Quote #2):
"It's Jesus!"
"Harry Potter's the AntiChrist!"

As an outside observer (I did not pay and/or attend the Flan/Backup Bash), I hope that Booster Events is taken down hard for this. I hope all the Browncoats get their money back and I hope that Booster Events goes out of business. Everyone who works for them should be ashamed to be in the event business and should immediately resign and seek another career choice. What they did is completely inexcusable and corrupt. And that's without even knowing if any of them have pocketed cash that they don't plan on returning.

I hope they are sued until the lint from their pockets is taken from them and/or prosecuted in the appropriate courts for theft and fraud. I hope someone with connections in the event and convention business (they should have member organizations and newsletters, correct?) spreads the story on this debacle so that no one who works for them gets hired in the business elsewhere. And I hope a court in the Burbank/Santa Clara/Los Angeles is soon made aware of this. I'd keep every receipt and immediately request relevant statements from each bank, credit card company, hotel, or airline and keep them ready. This was plain and simple FRAUD and they should be prosecuted civilly and criminally.

I may be a tangent opinion to the majority of the Browncoats, but that's how I feel and I had to state it somewhere. I hope the people taken in this fiasco get their money back and the people of Booster Events never work in this field again.

As one who DID plunk down a lot of hard-earned cash for Flanvention 2, I would certainly agree that a full explanation is in order. Undoubtedly it won't be forthcoming, however, since there would be legal ramifications.

I think there will certainly be lawsuits as a result of this fiasco. Failure to deliver on a fully prepaid event seems to me to be at the very least gross mismanagement. Then again, IANAL.

As far as BE's future, I think it's pretty obvious there isn't one, except as respondent in various court proceedings. Who in their right mind would trust these people with a red cent after this?

Bumping and agreeing with other posters, Booster Events needs to be taken down like the slimy dogs they are (course saying that is an insult to the canine community and I apologize for that).

I can't believe the utter gall to announce other events and think a simple apology will make it better.

I aim to misbehave!

I think Nathan was never contacted (ala his myspace). People like Jewel were and made plans (ala her blog http://users.ev1.net/~alternity/abadeo/jewel_staite/Jewel.html)

BE should be held libal... I am happy that the fans got a fancy back up event even though it was canceled. That was AMAZING.

Anyone know the status on a class-action suit or have the proper authorities been contacted by someone who actually lost money?

Los Angeles Better Business Bureau, Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau, City of Burbank police department, maybe?

I feel for you, fellow Browncoat, and for my dear friends who invested so much hope in this. It's hurtful even to read it.

Far as I see it, you people have been given the shortest end of a stick ever offered a human soul in this crap-heel 'verse.

For helping people obtain those refunds from credit car agencies, don't forget about the internet archives or wayback machine.

Here is a link to all of BE webpages in the archive:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.boosterevents.com

Do not take no for an answer from Paypal or Credit Card issuers. Keep pounding on them asking for supervisors, managers, etc. 'No' is the easy way out and if they value customer service, then they will help you get a refund. If they don't value their customers, then it is time to switch to another service.

I've been slowly slogging through the forum that BE set up, (it's at over five pages).

It's no sort of explanation or apology.
Word on refunds is that 'they have to check their paypal status'.
I am disgusted.
BoosterEvents started as by fans for fans.
Now, it's just a total screw.

They took money.
They didn't deliver.
And we, as responsible rebel Browncoats, need to get the word out to folks who may be tempted to sign up for activities that they're still advertising.

I know we all got on this boat for different reasons, mine being Adam Baldwin's biceps, but no more running.
I aim to misbehave.
Where's Mr.Universe? Lets get this broadcast to all the fandoms that B.E. deals with. Folks need to know that they aren't on the up and up.

According to the Flanvention Helpline blog:

"We have help now from legal and financial advisors, and are exploring any options available to see what the best course of action is in each situation."

and Boosters will be issuing a more complete statement on Monday, December 18th:

"The current planning, according to Boosters, is to issue a statement by Monday 18th December. The statement will cover these issues:

- What happened?
- Refunds- what's up?
- Is Boosters going bankrupt?
- Is Boosters going to continue to have conventions?
- Why would anyone ever trust Boosters again?"

Sounds like some people are pursuing this, trying to get their money back, and letting know Booster Events can't do this and get away with it. Good luck, Browncoats!

I hope everyone gets their money back.
And also, that Booster explains to everyone's satisfaction what the hell happened.
I personally believe that if it takes them almost 10 days to come up with a reasonable explanation, that some tale-spinning is taking place...
