I first saw the episode of Outer Limits called " The Starcrossed " (from 1999) a few weeks ago and I burned it on a DVD. Has anyone here ever seen it? Tell me that episode isn't one of the greatest 45 minutes of television ever!

He plays Michael Ryan, owner of the Heaven coffee house...the whole theme of the show is a futuristic sort of Casablanca.....very similar themes and actions.

Nathan is so awesome in this I can't even begin to describe. You can see in this episode all his amazing talent...his deep intense stares, his passion, his unique humor...honestly I felt like I was watching a pre-quel to Firefly! Not to mention this episode is hot!!! Nathan beds his former lover and we see a side shot of his leg ...again with that weird black tatoo that we saw in Trash. I have now watched this 6 times...gets better every time! Any comments?

Hey ShinyEd....I was also up at 5:00 am a few weeks ago and watched The Starcrossed episode of Outer Limits. I think you hit the nail squarely on the head 'cause the episode WAS awesome and Nathan's performance was award-worthy!

If you remember at the end he and his Russian ally decide to get back into the fight & join up with the NATO resistance fighters nearby....a few different words and themes and voila...we have the origins of the Browncoats war against the Alliance. And what about the Girl...her songs...they blew me away! She is a real pro,,,sings like a bird!...and Yes...Very hot!!!

Nobody posted 'cos they had to run right out to find this episode in one form or other.

Now they are recovering from watching. Then they will watch again. Then -- lather, rinse, repeat. Give 'em a day or two to break the cycle.

Heh.
In truth, Nathan Appreciators know all about this
appearance and have gone so far as to post caps on their thread at the gossi board.

Yum.

I saw Starcrossed in November, and was blown away as well! The guy has screen presence, and this was before Firefly!! Just wish I thought about taping it (yes I still have blank VHS tapes and a VCR!). Does anyone know when it will be on SciFi again?

I'm a big fan of the Outer Limits, and surprised that I never saw that ep before. I have found that as soon as you're a fan of somebody, you see them everywhere. Or like when you learn a new word or fact. Like I heard this thing about Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren the other day and then he was the Final Jeopardy answer like two days later. And before I'd barely heard of him. Good looking, ShinyEd.

I've been dying to see that episode! It wasn't one of the ones they released on DVD, believe me, I looked. I totally suck. I hate myself for missing it.

Mmmm of course the ep is not included in any of the DVD collections, so the only solution I see is to download it from Internet.

I found it on:

I would like to remember that Adam too did an ep in 1998 titled "Phobos Rising".

Hi Floralbunny,

I'm not surprised that fans have known and loved that episode with Nathan for a long time. I didn't mean to post "the obvious"...it's just that the Firefly/Serenity 'verse have become a huge part of my 'verse for the last year...every scrap I can get is like a fix for me.

With The Starcrossed & Phobos Rising episodes I almost feel like I have 16 Firefly episodes instead of 14.

Sie-sie!

Hi Addlepated,

So glad you saw the episode in Novemeber....I did have to watch it a few times before I really understood what the hell was going on...especiall that Russin chick was hard to understand what she was saying...and of course all the plot twists.....but ultimately, our hero Nathan once again proved to be The Man!

What did ya think of his fighting skills in the street against the Hing thugs wearing Glow Gloves?....his running up the wall karate moves were amazing!

Go the Sci Fi channel website for Outer Limits TV Schedule...they usually post a couple of months schedule in advance.

Hey Scarecrow,

You can go to www.imdb.com and enter The Outer Limits ( new series ). It will give you a complete listing, in order, of all 150+ epsiodes and their air dates.

I think it was Season 3 or 4...circa 1998-1999. This episode & Adam Baldwin's episode were NOT included in the 6 themed dvds ( 36 episodes ),and have not yet come out....but I'm sure they will by next year or two.

Okay, so two seperate sightings of a rather distinctive piece of body art on two unrelated shows would seem to indicate that this is probably a bit of personal adornment and not makeup.
Anybody got a big enough screen to make out just what that ink is? Teensy monitor = teensy Mal = indecipherable tatoo.

You'd think BDH ink would have been FAQ or trivia material before this!

eep, ShinyEd, my very tacky-bad.

Didn't mean to sound as if I were taking you to task about "posting the obvious."

I say we can't get enough Filli-yum, even if we have to dredge up ancient OL episodes to get it.
The more we yak about it the more the good folk with the desired collections of pixels will pop up to help us out.

I mentioned the Appreciators because I was sure some of them have the goods. Or the goodies, if you want to put it that way.

Now, about that capture:
FMF wouldn't *threaten* the lovely Nathan, would she? I mean to say, holding him at gunpoint? It doesn't compute, not at all at all. Nay, if she found herself with a nekkid Nathan in this condition, would she not apply antiseptic and bandages, followed by a thick lavishing of kisses-to-make-it-well?
Then the focus would go all soft -- there'd be an FMF giggle and a dissolve...classic cheese...yes, let's run that back and watch it again again again

'rose,

Yep, the tat is for-realsies.
And yep, it's been discussed, even with the Man
himself.
He has said he'd rather not have done it, and is
kinda sensitive on the subject.
Supposed to be Egyptian, I think.
Somewhere in the archives of this very board, if
I only had a nice fast connection, I could find

Talk about story arc, Earl Warren had one. I'm
still waiting for someone to make a no-holds-barred film about him.
Maybe we need a few huge books first.
Amazing subject, no matter how one feels about him.

Nope, it's his very own, gotten at a tender age, so he says and he regrets it....now...

It's an Egyptian symbol, possibly a scarab beetle with a peace symbol thrown in for good measure. I believe he told someone this at Moonlight Rising.

Nice place for a tatoo, huh?

"Accidents of Life" and "Salvation" - written by Robbie Buchanan, Adrian Gurvitz, and Richard Barton Lewis

"Funky Boy" and "It Hurts" by Robbie Buchanan

These were from the credits - Thanks, DVR - I think it's the first two you want.

I thought the first song was called "Breathe"...but "Salvation" makes more sense now that I know what it is. It's a kick-ass song, and having Nathing leering throughout makes it so much the better.

Pretty sure "Accidents of Life" and "Salvation" are the two songs the chick sang. What are you wanting exactly? The lyrics? A recording of the songs themselves? They were co-written by the executive producer of the Outer Limits, Richard Barton Lewis, so I doubt they were ever recorded for an album.
