quite a buzz.

#19 in IMDB's 2006 Starmeter, falling in between Orlando Bloom and Tom Hanks.[ http://imdb.com/features/rto/2007/starmeter]

"High School Musical" is a Disney made-for-TV
musical that is actually pretty darn good.

Since my daughter is a teenager and still enjoys watching the Disney Channel, we watched it together. Being Browncoats, we recognized
that Zac Efron was "young Simon", of course.

"High School Musical" became so popular that its DVD was reissued in a new two disc version for Christmas this year.

In addition, Disney has created a live version which has been licensed to just five locations in the US next year. These performances do not include the original stars but they do include two new songs. The original stars will be part
of a touring company that will go everywhere except these five locations.

I also understand that "High School Musical II" will be made starting in March 2007 with the original cast on board.

One of the lucky 5 licensees of the live version is the award-winning Children's Theatre across the river in Minneapolis. The response to this was so overwhelming that additional performances were added several times. It has just kept selling out. We've got tickets and are going, of course.

So, Mr. Efron is part of a major phenomenon...

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I haven't seen that show, but it was mentioned on the current TV Guide podcast by Angel Cohn as being one of her favorite things this year.

According to the IMDb, Zac Efron was born 10/18/87 which makes him 19.

Hope he has good advisors 'cause he's awfully young to have to deal with this kind of fame!

Ugh. Highschool Musical was an awful movie. I had to watch it on the bus on the way to Quebec City on a class trip. 10 hours on the bus and great movies like: Monty Python And The Holy Grail, Van Helsing, Dodgeball were all options but NO, we had to watch gorram High School Musical. It was a fun trip otherwise, though I did throw up at McDonalds. My friend Christina is absolutely in love with Zac Efron, I have to tell her about this.

Chriskwanzukkah is upon us!!!

I can easily understand why someone wouldn't like "High School Musical" as it's kind of lightweight as musicals so often are.

Guess I enjoyed it in spite of that. The singers could actually sing, always a pleasant change, and the dancers could actually dance.

For me, the shiny youthful energy redeemed much maybe 'cause I have my own memories of being in high school musicals...

It's also one of the things that my teenager and I both like. And, there just aren't that many things like that.

Firefly's one of 'em and that is definitely part of why I cherish it.

But, YMMV with any work of art, and, as I said above, I've got no problem with those as don't like it.

Hopefully, the reverse is also true!

Hehe, yeah so many of my friends are too. I actually did not see High School Musical though, due to the fact that I tend to detest both musicals and Disney movies. It is cool that he is a part of Firefly. I wonder if he's a fan of it to...

I prefer musicals along the lines of... well the most shiny are "Singing in the Rain," and "Fiddler on the Roof," followed closely by "Jesus Christ Superstar" (hehehe...Herod).

Considering this would "Highschool Musical" be worth a gander?

My main problem with HSM is that Family Channel around here airs it about twice a week.
