You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I got mine at a thrift store for $20. Best $20 I ever spent.

Check Ebay, they've always got some decent prospects. I recently picked up a brown leather bomber jacket for $28.

Whenever somebody tells me my coat is sort of a brownish colour, I'm able to tell them with all truthsomeness: "It was on sale."

I got mine for one-third the regular price at a coat/leather store (mine is oilskin rather than suede, but it helped me win a costume contest ). Mind you, it was still a little pricey - it was $100, but this was in one of those suburban tourist traps swamped with money. You might try your luck; there can't be many places in the 'verse that are more expensive all around, so if you hit up the coat sales and/or thrift stores you might find something that fits the bill.

I got mine at a thrifty store... and it's suede... and brown... and my pride and joy... only second (just recently) to my oddly multicolored scarf.

DON'T STARE AT ME LIKE THAT! *huddles in corner, hugging scarf*

Hello to the 'verse!!

I'd like to officially join up
I'd heard ya'll hand out vertual browncoats to the newbies and I'm bringing reinforcements (a hubby , my father, and an honorary bcoat for my 4-year-old who can sing the theme song almost perfectly).

I'm addicted..... I've made stickers for my car that say
Good guys don't always wear white ... sometimes they wear brown
Wash is my co-pilot
Get off my aft or I'll call out the reavers

I've bought the box set, the movie, and the role-player book for my hubby with plans to buy me an actual browncoat and have hubby's grandma knit a Jayne hat....
This is my first real post and I'm not too keen with all this shiny 'puter technology so if I screw up pay no mind.....

p.s. I test out as our Captain and my hubby tests out as River on the personality tests.. go figure!

Value Village usually has some quality dusters for discounted prices. Might be a mite difficult to find 'em in brown, but when has that ever stopped anyone? If you want it to look exact though, you're gonna have to shell out some credits to someone handy with a needle, just to warn you.

Best a' luck on your quest! Let us know how it turns out!

What terms is it that ya'll are using to do a search on Ebay for it? A quick search using "brown coat" came up with almost 800 results and that's a bit much to search through for me.

Try "Leather Duster" or "Brown Duster" or "western duster"?

There are a few decent looking coats up now actually under those search subjects. :)

Good luck!

Welcome home, Iremist. Looks as if you and yours
are well qualified to board our shiny ship and
join the crew.

Please dive right into the strawberries we have here, and wash 'em down with a mug of the best Mudder's in the 'Verse.

"Wash is my co-pilot" is a wonderful sticker!

How about one of those old yellow stick-on sign thingies saying "Companion on Board" or a sticker saying "I Brake for Shepherds."

Come on up to the galley to question the buffet.
A little wife soup just gettin' up to ready.

I love my captain

YOu know what. I need one of them things too. I'm kinda putting together a versecentric costume. No character in particular. Just me in the verse. Right now about all I need is a gun (which I know where to get), a big old knife, and a coat.
Just might check out the ebay option.

Op: You're fighting a war you've already lost.

As for Companion on board well, hubby might have SOME objections...

Which brings up an interesting question.. Do y'all think there are male companions in the 'verse and would ya call 'em companions?

Also, what's up wih the turtle verbage? Did I miss something?

What are the chances that there's some Earl Grey/Green tea on the buffet?

Since i'm new here I reckon I'll be needing a browncoat myself. I remember when Firefly first came out and how much I missed it. Since getting the box set recently ( my x-mas present to myself ) its about the only thing i've had on the boob tube. I'm going to be breaking my girlfriend into the wonderful world of scifi very soon and her first treat is the whole box set then the movie. She may not become a browncoat but I'm sure even she can see how great the show is.

Hubby might just qualify! In my sector we have
males or actually anything you want. Hehe.
The turtle verbiage ("Bastards singed my turtle"
is the original) is from the un-filmed Episode 15,
which I can probably URL for you in a few minutes.
Could I satisfy you with Earl Green tea until our
next raid I mean pickup? Or some nice Oolong from
Sihnon?
Off now to find that script for you...will put it in with an edit...
Here we go:

If this doesn't work anymore, you can kick my

can find. ::-)

Welcome home, BryonsBoas. We're right glad to have
you on our shiny crew.
One of the distributors of virtual coats should
be along when the clock cooperates.
As for strawberries, they're right at hand, along-
side the Mudder's Milk.

Then we go up to the galley to question the buffet.

Have you noticed how this seems to condition your
boob-tube? Everything is softer, smoother, fluffier,
more fresh and fragrant, the sound more vibrant and
the colors brighter.
Nothing like a little Firefly therapy to make the
tube a better participant in the household.

Well I'm glad things are going well in your corner of the 'verse ;)

Thanks for the effort of putting in the link but I've read the 15th episode. I just noticed that in other threads you use different verbs with your turtle-Far be it for the newbie to question?
I like it though-I'm gonna modify my signature from now on.

I'm done questioning the buffet...it won't answer...and I done got hot cheese on my slinky dress(I'm with Zoe!)

DONCOAT

Well, well! Many new folks in this unlikely thread. Hey, wherever you pop up, we welcome you.

FollowMal is our official unofficial Coater, but I have the backup supply. I recycle used virtual 'coats in my humble repair shop.

Now, there's a reasonable selection of grownup-sized coats here, so all you new folks can help yourselves. I got most of the stains out and holes patched. If you're fussy, catch FM next time she strolls by and she'll break out the new stock for you.

Now, there is a bit of a problem. I don't have anything to fit a 4-year-old, not even a talented singing one. How about this 'way oversized one that they can grow into?

Love the bumper stickers... but I'd go with "get off my six" instead of "aft"... personal preference, y'know...

I've been thinking of getting a semi-76th outfit
togther, just the flavor of it: tan coat, red scarf,
couple other things, but not looking like I'm
about to attend a parade muster. Local transit
system would be averse to me embarking while
carrying my favorite toad-stabber or a repeater.

Okay, okay -- I heard someone carrying on about
getting hot cheese on a slinky dress. Hot cheese
remover is in the cabinet down by the passenger
area.

Brewing more of the Dragon here. Oolong, anyone?

BTW, please do not step on ShipsCat or into her dish. ::-)
