3. Well I don't know how women think when being proposed to.

4. I went the job route and turns out he'd already figured all that our. He knows he has to at least stay at his job for a year. Hooray!!....except that didn't seem to slow down the proposal plans. Ugh.

Questions, questions, questions.

1. So, if she wouldn't consider moving in with him before, what's different about the relationship now? Does she feel shacking up before marriage is immoral or did she just not want to "deepen" the relationship at that time and now she's ready, or is yer friend seeing things that aren't there?

2. Logic is among the noblest of pursuits. However, the crush/obsession/true love did not come about by logic and so logic will prove the least effectual means to your end.

3. Again, I don't think "thinking" is what is going on. She long ago would have "evaluated" his prospective mate status and at the point of the proposal will merely check to see if the assessment is still valid, taking .059 nanoseconds. The rest is merely deciding how to break the answer.

4. Okay, so the real question is, what if she really is the one? What if they truly belong together? What if they are a match? It is good that you are concerned, but can you say there is something toxic about her? Is he guaranteed to get hurt by her? Ultimately, it's his choice, his life.

I agree with MsG

From the picture I have of her, I thought that was obvious, as I have never met anyone with naturally coca-cola red bangs.

Neither of those two pics are actually me. The one with the cherry red bangs is some photobucket chick I like because she's sticking her tongue out. I don't have bangs. My hair is very long, past my shoulders w/o bangs.
The pic I posted in JQ's birthday thread is much closer to actually looking like me, from behind...if my hair were curled perfectly, and the color was photoshopped to the Nth degree.

1. Nah it's not a morality issue. She's not that type of girl. It was a moving across the country issue. She wasn't up for that.

2. Well if I go an emotional route that's just asking for a fight IMO.

3. I have no idea on that one. Since I've never really thought about it from the receiving end of the question. For guys we usually get to do all our evaluating and thinking it over up front. The female side has more of a chance for surprises like this.

4. She's not the one. She's not toxic either. They just don't have any real feelings for each other. They're both each other's fall back person. He's just decided the war is over and it's time to retreat.

Overall, I feel much better about it knowing he's at least considering his career a bit. Cause when the whole thing goes south he's not going to want to be living in the basement.

Jonny and Zeek Ok somewhat confused by this...so according to you we've all evaluated "potential mate" staus in guys we are dating and are merely lookoing for a way to format our answer?? Wow! I don't know as I've ever put that much effort into it. LOL Here I was just leaping based on emotion and y'all are attributing this higher level analysis and complex reasoning...Always nice to get credit for being more analytical than I really am:)

Zeek- So how do you know they are each other's fall back. Are you sure that's still how they feel about each other. When they're together do they seem disinterested in each other? When they talk about each other is it a resigned tone? 'Cause if so hmmm not sure how you can stop your friend, but you're right it's not likely to work. I'm just saying that you know when it's right to say yes, before the question is asked. If you don't "know" the answer is, or should be "no".

Indeed, but really, when it comes down to it, if you're going to go down any route at all, you're going to be in for a fight. The emotional one is the one you want to win, because when it comes to "her", it's the only one in play. You can see that because the job just separated itself (at least temporarily) from the fight altogether.

Good morning everyone.

Ya know it'll be a while catchin' up when there a very few one line responses.

Hope everyone's weekend was nice, but it seems there are alot of questions posed by most.

My quick question. Our "team" is recognizing that we suck. Sure we can shoot the piss outta each other, but there was another "team" introduced this weekend and we got ran over. Of course they are younger with considerable more conditioning and training than most of us, but those are merely excuses of a loser.
Is it wrong for me, someone new to the "team" to take charge and teach relative strangers to lead and follow? Its different when life and death is involved, but this is supposed to be in the name of fun.
Just need some input. Please.

I really enjoyed lurking (after the fact) while you and VX were chatting it up this weekend. (VX, if you're listening, you are a sweetie! :hugs:)

Are they leadable? I find generally true leaders make themselves known whether they want to or not. If you're good at what you do, there's no hiding it and they'll want to follow your lead.

Actually, I didn't noticed the constipated look, but instead focused on how cute Bandit's tushy looks!

NV...I think in every group, there emerges one person whose calm demeanor and strong presence identifies them as a leader. Don't go rushing in all willy nilly, demanding change. Offer advice. Guide but don't demand.
You don't want to be the "who the hell does he think he is coming in here and taking over" guy. However...when you can show sound judgement and advice, leadership, and confidence...that's when you'll gather them together.

PS- Did you see the promo during 24 for Nicolas Cage's version of Ghostrider? Looked very NVish!!!

If they need a leader, and you have the necessary qualities (which you do), then I say go for it. Don't step on any toes, and don't become a tyrant. It sounds like they may need a bit of organization, and if you are willing to do the work, I am sure that it will end up being a good thing. If they buck a bit when you try to do it, back off, and lead by example (if possible).

EDIT:
Mavs - I did not see the promo for Ghost Rider, but about the show itself,

Select to view spoiler:

Can you fucking believe that they let Jack kill Curtis and had a nuke blow up in the middle of LA in the same episode?!?

Thinking about it, it is 24, so it's not entirely unexpected.

Why the lurking JQ? I like the stillness of the night, but it seems really strange to only find one person on late at night. Actually, its kinda cool too.

As for the leading thing, I can do it. Some of the guys are friends or family outside of the 'ballin so its easy to catch them together here and there. I just hated to look of defeat on their faces. I liked hearing the self criticizm. On fella really goes Wild Bunch when he's cornered, but has trouble moving with the team. Me, I move slower than some, but faster than others so that puts me in the middle. Guess I'll present the question next Sunday and see where it goes.

Occasionally there is a girl on the team. But don't it figure that she's in a relationship. I never brought this up 'cause I kinda like her, but see her as inaccessible because of the setting and the fact that she has someone. Who else puts those things behind them because of the setting in which we are set?

Because I am a single-minded, simple-minded clod who can only hold one thought at a time and until it’s dead cannot cut himself free of the albatross it becomes. (No offence, LA29…)

Granted I live in rural Hawaii, but I have friends who became grandmothers the old fashion way -biologically- before they were 40. A good friend of ours had her last child the same year her eldest daughter had her first child. So, no.

Remember Grandmotherhood has all the bennies of parenthood (cute kids running around loving you) without out all the sleepless nights and other dreck.

Well just earlier this year he was talking about how he felt bad leading her on because he didn't have any feelings for her. Now he's using the line "you don't know what you have until it's gone". Since it was never a short distance "relationship" in the past 6 years I'd say it was gone around high school graduation.

well I am now wishing I had considered another profession... as I have a student who asked to come after school to help get caught up on his work from other classes. I said yes of course and here he is ready to make it up, except fort he part where he forgot to get any of his missing work from his teachers...so I have to send him to get it :)

Its things like that, MSG, that dimmed my love for the profession. Well, that and parents.....and that talking to walls was sometimes less disheartening....and the administrators. Ok, my general dislike of children had something to do with it as well.

Ever thought of teaching adults like I do? They're usually more interested... usually... and fairly well behaved too... sometimes... and there aren't any kids involved... normally...

The only problem is you'll still have to deal with parents. In fact, you'll have to each them.

It was just one of those things. I enjoy teaching, but only when teaching people who want to learn. So now I teach things like fencing. For some reason very few people show up for fencing classes that don't want to learn about swords.

Heh heh heh... swords are cool!

Learning fencing would be cool too, although as someone who has almost no hand-eye coordination it may not be the best hobbie to take up.

I know that as an adult that if I'm aimin' to learn something I'll be there with bells on.
And if I had teachers like y'all (in the past and present) I'd be bringin' apples and such.

DTH- You can train for hand-eye coordination you know.

NVG-apples are yummy. None of my students have ever brought me an apple. I do get hugs from many of the women though, so I guess its not all bad.

EDIT: Hey, I never noticed that before. I'm supposed to be providing literate and thought provoking comments. I guess I should stop posting or atleast not post and answer the phone at the same time.

Hi all! (see Odds, it may be a generic way to say hi to everyone, but at least you don't leave people out. When I start naming names I get all nervous that I'm gonna be missing someone. I would hate to do that. )

Heh...Mircea, have you been listening to me tell people why I stopped teaching? You've seemed to hit the nail on the head, to be cliched.

Hugs at fencing classes? Guess its better than a poke in the eye.
Having to teach or train adults gets on my nerves sometimes. I don't blame some of them though. When we do some physical stuff they get all playful like little kids. So many adults rarely get the chance for "hand on fun" these days with sexual harassment suits and all.
But it gets really rewarding when I can teach some of our kids the same things (trust building, self esteem, etc.) and they hold on to it for dear life.

Nope Rugbug. I haven't been listening in. I was just remembering my own time as a teacher in public schools.

I get a lot of pokes in the eye too, NVG. Probably a good thing I wear a mask.

So, um, as a side note, if I have no intention or predisposition towards doing the tempting of anyone, is it still suitable to call me tempting? Wouldn't it be, rather, you who are allowing yourself to be tempted through your own perceptions, and therefore are the de facto tempter?

Of course context was provided! The fun comes in with its removal. That's why I've dubbed it the "Yay! \o/ Out Of Context Game!" Your word choice was fine. It's I who is skewed. (It's I who am? Me who is? Grammar are lame.) *snikker*

Howdy Rugbug. Glad to see ya around. Human service ain't for the faint of heart, especially as it applies to kids. I'll pat anyone on the back who'd at least given it a try and kick anyone in the ass for criticizing their efforts. Only those amongst you and those who have been there can judge.

Hell's Kitten- I think you're tempting whether you meant to be or not..it's really the effect not the intent that's measured.

All straightened out. Got the little monkey his missing work and now he's passing one more class than he was at the start of the day so yippee!!!

See kids are fun ( which is why I do this) and it's great to see the "I did it" sparkle in their eyes. As for administrators and parents...I mostly ignore them unless they are being helpful. I just nod and say "good to know" whenever they get all upset and then go back to doing what I was doing in the first place since all I care about is how the kids are doing.

Anyway, off to tutor now and then if I get luck time for the gym...ttfn all

G'night MSG. Wish I could get to the gym and take out some aggression. Our gyms don't really have the appropriate workout facilities for me and those like me.
Looks like its time to set up the run and gun course at home.

But the effect changes with each unique perspective. So how can I be at once tempting and not tempting (and anywhere in between)? That state of being defies reason and reality, unless I am Schrödinger's Kitten. Which, I suppose I could be. Nonetheless, I still assert that it is the one doing the perceiving who is also doing the tempting of one's self; allowing one's self to "feel" a certain way based on their interpretation (and extrapolation) of their perception. An object doing nothing but being perceived cannot actually take this action.

(By the way, this is what I sound like when I am tired and have a migrane. Hee hee.)

Makes me wonder about the saying, "Power perceived is power achieved." The object might not have any intention of power, but the perception from outside gives the illusion of power. Eventually a being will grasp onto that power, usually in the subconcious mind.
