Does anyone else in australia want to see firefly on SBS? I certainly do, i want more people to see this series, so i emailed SBS and you can too! Maybe one day, my dream will finally happen - a chance to hear more people talking about a spaceship called serenity.

And use the word: Shiny.

pressure, I mean, email sbs australia:

As far as free to air TV goes, its probably our best bet. E-mail has been sent. Here's hoping.

That would be excellent if that happened.
In a funny sort of way, it make sense though. Half the show is in Mandarin anyway so it would go well with their foreign films format (with subtitles) that they put on.

Just so everyone else knows, SBS in Australia stands for ‘Special Broadcasting Service’, which is specifically designed to cater for multiculturalism in Australia by broadcasting a majority of its air-time in various languages. Its radio and television services broadcast in more languages than any other network in the world.
I'm saying this because I’ve been told (second hand) that SBS in some other countries is a TV station for more ‘Kinky’ material ironically.

I will defiantly send in an email.

Good one!! Are we all Aussies in this thread too then? Yay!! An Aussie campaign!!

Will do! Though as I understand it Channel 7 still has the rights... I think anything is worth a shot and the folks who watch SBS do tend to be of the intelligent variety and they should be enamoured of the series in a flash!

Shiny idea! Thanks!

What station was it on in Australian originally? Was it ‘Channel Seven’ or ‘Channel Nine’? All I can remember is seeing an episode 1:30am in the morning.
If it’s ‘Channel Nine’ then were screwed. Look at what they did with Farscape. Although to be fair, they did hand over the last season of ‘The West Wing’ to the ‘ABC’.

Either way, half the problem is getting the rights for the show. And also convincing ‘SBS’ that there is a substantial “viewing” interest in this show.

Channel 7 definetly had (have?) the rights.

I believe FOX8 have the Pay-TV rights. They used to air it on Saturday nights at 10:30pm.

Fox8 are starting to show it semi-regular like again. I seriously doubt there will be any success in this, but I'll give it a whirl anyway. Anyone think of mass campaign to all all the free-to-air channels? Maybe push something about quality television that isn't either a crappy soap or crappier 'reality' tv.

Or just mention it's made by JOSS! JOSS people! Wake up and smell the pro behind the wheel.

N.B. Akubra and some other country type clothing companies could advertise during the ad breaks. Think of the cross-promotional possibilities!
