I actually got into Neil Gaiman by reading Good Omens. I have also read American Gods, and bought Anansi Boys to read as well. I have all of the Sandman comics downloaded in .pdf format, but I have yet to sit down and take the time to read them despite all of the good things I have heard about them.

What did you think to American Gods? Anansi Boys is well worth the read, worth putting the time into ^^ worth looking into Neverwhere as well, it's not quite as accomplished as American Gods or Anansi Boys, it lacks the former's scope and the latters character detail, but it's more endearing then either, very easy to empathise with ^^

And the sandman is just genius, no more need be said xD

Got into Gaiman, oddly not through Good Omens, but because Anansi Boys looked interesting, then came the rest of the novels, the sandman and so on. I liked good omens, but I thought it lacked something compared to the more recent work by both author's, I think they've both developed alot stylisticly and technically, and Good Omen's maybe doesn't quite live up to that. Another collaboration between them would be interesting, if only too see where it wound up xD

This is a reply to everyone who answered the Gaiman question, it's just taken me a while is all...

I liked American Gods a lot, somewhat morbid and creepifying, which is right up my alley. Sometimes I will even bow my head in respect as I drive through a green light. :)

I always forget that I have Sandman, that or I get distracted (which doesn't take much), but I have read a little and I like what I have seen.

HELL'S KITTEN

Hallo!

I have just tried green tea.

I have never even had tea before, but I decided to go straight to the Japanese green tea. It looked similar in colour to Mountain Dew, so how could it not be good?? Um. It doesn't taste like Mountain Dew. No. It tastes weird. It has burst all my romantic, naive, pre-concieved notions about how the pretty greenness should taste, and left me completely, wholly disappointed.

I may not recover from this.

So... if I don't see you ever again... have a good life... *sniffle*

do they give you riot gear and a water cannon when you're dealing with that many MSG? 'cos i have to say, i'd not be wanting to go too near without =S

American Gods is quite the thing RIMG ^^ although i think i might have gotten more from it if i knew America better. Still, it'll let me make an easy theme for the planned bike trip when my dad retire's xD

edit green tea isn't a great place to start a love for the drink HK, well, depending on what type you try. Perhaps a fruit-flavoured green, orange and lotus flower is quite nice, and not too strong would be a good place to start? for tea drinking in general, you'd probably find a breakfast tea, with milk, or sugar(yech), most palatable as a non-tea drinker ^^ then maybe try the bergamot flavoured tea's, Earl Grey or Lady Grey. think the nicest tea i ever tried was a Bergamot flavoured green tea, in a little chocolate shop in Edinburgh. they've got a menu of tea's six pages long, then even more of hot-chocolate's xD keep going back and trying something else off the menu ^^ i'll work my way through it eventually, even the £20 a pot one's xD

Gods are great. But the heart is greater, for it is from the heart they come, and to the heart they shall return.

If it is colored like Mountain Dew, it had damn well better be Mountain Dew. Period. :)

I don't think you can die from drinking green tea, unless you drink too much like that lady from the radio contest and drown yourself.

HK, I'm right there with you on the tea. I would be utterly disappointed to try something that looked like Mt. Dew and tasted like tea. Blech.

The only way I can stomach tea is with milk and sugar. If I have to put so much other stuff it in to make it palatable, maybe I should just avoid it altogether.

Tea should be cold, with added sugar and a little bit of mint.

I have though about adding a green tea bag to my usual mix when making sweet tea.

Choke????? Tea is good! Especially with honey and/or sugar (never heard of putting milk in it, that just sounds weird). That, and as has been mentioned, it is good for you. (Especially for strange people like me that don't drink water....water is nasty) I usually go through a pitcher or two a day of iced tea, as well as a couple cups of hot tea.

I will admit that tea can be an acquired taste, but it is one of the healthiest drinks that I've found palatable.

Tea's a mite better than straberry carbonated water, anyway.

Blech. I want to brush my tongue now, but this is the only liquid I've had all day, and I enjoy being even semi-hydrated.

Also wanted to pick up on a piece of the last thread about blue food/drink. Nature offers us no edible blue food. Flower-eaters keep out. Even blueberries are purple. According to Quest's guide to edible colors, "...with the anomolous exception of Circus Peanuts, the color Orange shall be the best indicator of scrumptiousness." Cheetos, carrots cooked or raw, oranges, peaches, butterscotch if stretched slightly, and of course mangos. "Interestingly, orange is on the exact opposite side of the color wheel. Coincidence?"

LOL- see I like tea, but most people don't:)
Sadly there's no way to arrange a sub on such short notice so I am wrangling a double class today we are learning the Someone Wants But Then So strategy

Works like this ( example)
Someone- Cinderella Wants- to go to the ball But- her stepmother won't let her Then- Her fairy Godmother comes and helps her So- She gets to go to the ball and meet the Prince
It's great for teaching both point of view and summarization.

Green tea starter kit: Arizona brand, Mandarin Orange, Peach (make sure it's green, they also make black tea in peach), Pomegranate (hmmm). If you like plum and apple flavored they have that too as well as diet varieties. Once you have developed a suitable addiction the taste won't matter anymore.

Oh, and HK, if you must expire please post the rest of your pictures first! Um, so that we have something to remember you by.

Howdy everyone. Just checkin' in. There's been a slight crackdown on personal useage of 'puters at work so it's hard gettin' on. Unsweetened tea is good for bad breath. In the summer I love to make tea in the morning for all day drinking. Our water gets to tasting funny when it gets warm so having the tea to offset the taste really helps.

Coffee. Coffee is the drink you are looking for, Hell's Kitten...unless you already drink it regularly and this green tea thing was just a mistake. That's understandable. I made the mistake of drinking green tea once, too. It made me sick. I know it's supposed to be good for you, and there are other types of hot tea that I like, but green tea is not one of them.
Stick to coffee.

Use more tea and brew it longer...I like it stronger than "weak".

As for green tea versus black, I am pretty sure green refers to the color that the unitiated turn when they first drink it.

DANCINGNEKO

'morning all...

Hope everyone's weekend was better than mine. (Saturday was spent day-tripping to another island to spend it mainly at a friend's father's funeral and the receptions -- yep two, one at the church, the second one at the family's home.) Spent the rest of the day and yesterday recovering from it mainly.

*picks up jaw from the floor*...Okay, just reading (and trying to respond to the whole "green tea is icky" school of thought)...Infidels...unwashed masses...(tongue firmly in cheek of course, but still)..heathens...

I give you full credit for trying green tea without trying any other types before, HK. I'm guessing that it wasn't sweet enough for you, based on that Mountain Dew comment. *wince* Although I think all of you have horrid taste in oversweetened drinks...I'd rather drink a "green river" (7-up with green lemon-lime syrup added) or Jolt before I'd stoop to Mountain Dew

Odds made some suggestions for drinking green tea that might be a bit more to your taste, I'd also suggest the Arizona Green Tea since it's an iced with a lot of sweeteners (or a majority of the canned or bottled green teas for sale on the mainland). Or, if you have to *shudder* add cream and sugar to the tea *shudder* (Yes, I've seen it done by some.) I'd also offer you some green tea ice-cream (good quality stuff -- not from Baskin-Robins) -- lots of sugar, lots of cream, and frozen.

Best suggestion -- avoid the "high quality" powdered green teas -- that's jmore for the Japanese Tea Ceremony and is stronger, sterner stuff than the tea leaves.

* After thought -- that's fine...don't drink the green teas -- means there's more high-quality stuff for folks like me (and the rest of the Asian continent).

--

Tristan: Coffee is good...unless it's canned or Star*ucks. But dissing tea? That's a true sign of lack of taste. Heck, it's what our BDHs drank...so watchit buster.

---

As for the resigning being an adult....ick. As I told someone else "that means you have to re-live school, puberty, having to rely on adults for a lot of things, not being able to afford all those expensive toys, living with your parents telling you what to do (and fighting over it)..." y'know, I'd rather be an adult even when it sucks. And I've lived through some things that had me wishing I'd wake up and find myself five years old again.

---

NVG: At least you're a guy getting those fuskin' spams...know a female-type whose response when she gets those kinds of spam with a "when did I grow man-bits?"

---

MsG: Kudos on the backup plan. Never had to double-up on a class before, but being able to do it while pulling out a good back-up alternative plan for the whole class is definitely something. *rounds of applause and a standing ovation*

Okay...it only took me all morning to get this out (and I'll be at a conference all day tomorrow) so *waves* and *hugs* to all. *leaves a couple of hugbombs for RIMG, NVG, Whitefall, JTD, and anyone else who needs one with a sign saying "Stressed? Push here."*

Okay, I posted a link to a cute game involving bunnies in my FFF.net blog. (Yes, I'm blogging again. And yes, I'm back at FFF.net) It's a game I became addicted to over Christmas. And if you don't believe me, just have a look at this

I don't know if I should be proud or ashamed...

It *is* the cutest game in the world though. The bunny is so sweet!

I *like* Starbucks! Even if I did drench myself in hot chocolate there once... stupid wobbly tables!

'Fraid I'm a terror for sweet drinks too. Anything sweet, fizzy and with vodka in it is fine with me. I *adore* sweet tasting cocktails - the sweeter the better - and I'm crazy about Bicardi breezers. I know, I'm a heathen who has no taste..

Unfortunately, it's for the HSA (state assesment) and with a test provider too...Color me unhappy...I hate being "volunteered" into such stuff, since it means I have to go back and report what new craziness needs to be done during the testing period....(and that means no free-reading for me.)*

Oh...and this 'neko can't seem to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time, so listening to two things at once whilst trying to take notes? Badness all around.

On the other hand...free food, and no marching about a mile away from the school in the sun (evacuation drill tomorrow).

Bah. I knows you wuvs me 'sides...like I said before -- means more for those who do like it. (Besides, you still owe me a dinner and movie time...)

Edit: DTH: Don't know why, but everytime I go to Star*ucks (except for the Tazo Teas) has been bad. The coffee has given me an upset stomach and the hot chocolate that they made was horrible (I think they re-scalded the milk without adding/refreshing any -- truly a disgusting drink.)

* also, it seems that the test coordinator isn't going to be going to the thing...so it looks like there will be 3 people who need to learn all 8 sections and someone will need to fake being the test coordinator.

Edited to add: DTH: The "heathens" were for those folks who decide to diss green tea. (Yeah, yeah, I still wuvs you all, but really...there's reasons why I shudder at the though of Mountain Dew as a drink -- there's an actual science observation lesson using Mountain Dew as fake sewer water and rasins as fake lice. It's a hi-larious scenario but pretty disgusting too.)

ah! my one true weakness.

Yes, I know I owe you dinner and a movie, and when the finances come through I will come through on that. Right now all that I have is going to soon be tied up as fees and/or court costs.

Legal issues and state assessment confrences. I miss out on all the fun.

Okay, I'm still catching up on this thread and the last one. Are we pondering here, or just screwin' around?

*personally hopes it's screwin' around cuz that's fun*
