So, when developing a FF/S fan made game there are a few "enemies" out there. You know, the people that could sue us for violating someone IP or IP that they've licensed. Up till just a little while ago, this was pretty much just Fox. But, when another company entered the picture (Multiverse), I got a little skittish. So, I contacted them.

The second email (exert):

"""

To summarize, I know of a few non-MMO Firefly/Serenity game projects (all free and/or open-source). I was wondering if you would allow these types of projects to continue.

"""

Got this reply:

"""

Hi < removed >:

We appreciate your approaching us for clarification on this, but unfortunately we can't really answer your questions.

Fox is the one you should talk to, they're the current owners of the Intellectual Property.

best,

Ron Meiners

Multiverse

"""

Now I sent a reply asking for clarification and have yet to receive a reply (not sure I'm going to get one). But, I'm not sure one is needed as there are some warm fuzzy implications of this one i.e. Multiverse is fine with these project types.

At any rate, I just thought I'd share this info as it is relevant to more than just me/us. I'll post again if I get a reply on my request for clarification.

Happy developing
