LAWMAN

Just wanted to express a few thoughts. I'm not a fan of buffy or any other whedonesque creation. however, i don't know why, but i'm somewhat obsessed with the firefly series. i keep watching the same episodes, except for heart of gold. doesn't do it for me. i enjoyed the movie serenity, but the series episodes provide a great deal of satisfaction emotionally. enough that i keep watching them again and again. i think i hit at least 2-3 episodes a week. a part of me wants continuing seasons of firefly, but a part of me doesn't. a longer burning candle gives off little light, but one that burns at both ends... i'm afraid of something less than brilliance with more writing. and another thing, the darker brown pants that mal wears in the movie in the last scene seem somewhat off compared to the lighter tan pants he wears in the series.

Welcome home, Lawman!! You're #25606 to come
aboard our shiny ship, and we are mighty glad
to see you here.

Over here we have a fresh haul of luscious
strawberries for you to sample, and that jug
beside them contains the best Mudder's Milk
to be found in this 'Verse. Have a nice,
big glug with your strawberries.

Stash your stuff in the cargo bay and follow
me up to the galley to question the buffet.

Ice-planets are in the cooler on the bottom
shelf. We are down to vanilla at the moment
but there'll be a re-supply sortie soon.

Please don't step on ShipsCat or into her
dish.

I, too, love the series and can watch it over
and over. My favorite excuse is that I'm looking
for lines to use as captions in one of our
contests, but I'd watch it anyway, again and
again.

Spread the Firefly love in all directions!!

could be just a weigh station, but you know, its the journey, not the destination. maybe i'm on the wrong ship. and what the heck is protein stuffs? and does it taste like anything? and where does it come from? if one can live on spices from here to kingdom come, then why isn't mal trading spices? just wondering, why didn't mal use some of the food stuffs they got off the transport and eventually sell to le patience. powerful need to eat and all that. see, its hard for me to leave well enough alone. things gotta make sense. heard all the commentaries a few times. like to hear nathan and alan do more commentary. bet baldwin would be a hoot. and does blue sun own everything?

Molded protein will be made so you can fix
it to taste like almost anything. Kaylee
in "Out of Gas" admits that the birthday cake is
pretty much what they just had for dinner,
but she made it as chocolate-y tasting as
she could.

"You don't fix Firefly; it fixes you."
Firefly is Plot-Hole Central, truth be told.

But I just wallow in FF episodes when there
is time, and don't sweat the plot-holes. It's
the journey, I believe.

The Spanish dubbing and subtitles, however...

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site Lawman. Good to have you posting here.

I think you will find that nearly everyone here suffers from the same affliction that you do; we all watch the episodes over and over. Me personally, I have gone through them all at least two dozen times, some as many as three dozen times.

Be sure to spread your obsession to others you know. We can use all the browncoats we can get.

Our universe is cool but Joss's verse is cooler.

Yepp, yepp, yepp... Lots of plot holes. But do we hate 'em for that? No! In all honesty, looking back at my life and probably some of the lives my friends lead I'd say - dmanit, those are full of plot holes as well. That doesn't make sense at all. And still it just happens as it does.

So! Wellcome on board, browncoat. I'm sure you'll find it fitting.

all obsessions aside, the characters are so intricately developed. i can't believe how much sorry shows and series are on regular tv, let alone cable. and firefly doesn't get more than one season? i think some shows have promise and potential, but for goodness sake, firefly is so much better than shows that have been on for 3-5 seasons. good writing, good character development, and the right chemistry between great actors. i just can't accept the freaking injustice of it all. and i'm in law enforcement.
it could be the tightpants or the the whole reaver thing, eating people doesn't sit well apparently.

Common theory has it that it's also because of the odd mix of sci-fi and western genres. Or probably it doesn't glorify enough? "I aim to missbehave" - probably not exactly a sentance they'd want their kids to live by.

But then, that's me from outside the box. But, as browncoats all over the world have proven, just because you're down doesn't mean you're beaten yet. So there's still hope. At least as long as none of the actors or Joss drop dead, which we all hope they won't.

Every fear has a history.
