The other day I had my first sighting of a Browncoat in the wild...

I was walking over to my local video store, and parked right out in front was a car with two stickers on the trunk lid...

Now, I live in L.A., been a Browncoat since 4/05, but I'd never seen any evidence to support the existence of Browncoats in the region: Nobody wearing Firefly or Serenity T-shirts (much less cunning hats) and until now, no bumper stickers on any vehicles.

I was beginning to suspect y'all were just an Internet myth!

You know Nathan Fillion lives in LA and has been know to shout out at people in cars with SEE SLiTHER bumper stickers. He might do the same for Firefly/Serenity bumper stickers.

I like to wear my Official Serenity Logo t-shirt to theme parks and movie theaters. It makes me feel good. And now I have another reason...proving not an Internet myth!

Kewl.

The closest I came was saying hello to someone on Main St with a Blue Sun t-shirt on.

I've been to all the comic book and movie memorabilia stores I can find, but I can't find so much as a lapel pin or a button with the Firefly or Serenity logo on it!

(I don't even see those nice enameled cloisonne pins anymore. I had a nice collection goin'!)

Love the Historic Battlefield bumper sticker.

Obviously they went there on a vacation and
sat on the ground while a guide gave a speech
about the battle.

Or they went on the anniversary and were
treated to the whole son et lumiere pageantry.

The kids whined until Dad bought the full set
of stereoscope slides, too.

Ice-planets were worth their weight in platinum
and came in vanilla only.

The dog (a beagle, of course) ate something off
the ground and got sick in the shuttle going
back to the ship.

Donny lost his sweater, the one Gammy made for him.

They'll never forget the trip. ::-)

So. Did you leave a note on the car saying how
cool it was to see a 'coat car?

Y'know, I actually did!
Got a little scrap of paper from the video store and wrote...

Hey, cool!
You're the first Browncoat I've ever actually seen!
Stay Shiny!

...and stuck it on the driver's side window with waterproof first-aid tape.

The closest I've come is that my cousin that I'm not real close to moved to Boston last year. I can't afford to go visit him, but all I could think about when I found out he was moving there is an article I read years ago where Andy Hallett (he played Lorne on ANGEL) mentioned he visited Joss at his vacation home in Cape Cod.

Okay, doesn't count, but I can dream, gorram it!

I saw a kid on campus with a mighty cunning Jayne Hat. It was snowing. And I was jealous...of the kid. I wanted to run outside and take the hat from his head...but i didn't. I figured that would be too weird. I need to get a jayne hat.

They ain't cuddly like me.

Awww, he would've cried a little, but that's just the way of those people.

Deep Thoughts

"The people in the village were real poor, so none of the children had any toys. But this one little boy had gotten an old enema bag and filled it with rocks, and he would go around and whap the other children across the face with it. Man, I think my heart almost broke. Later the boy came up and offered to give me the toy. This was too much! I reached out my hand, but then he ran away. I chased him down and took the enema bag. He cried a little, but that's the way of these people."

Our local comic book shop (the owner's a big Joss fan) sometimes has t-shirts in, but I haven't seen anything in a while. One of the MI Browncoats bought a Serenity Zippo there last year, but they haven't had any more in. :-(
