As a newbie, I just wondered if it had been seen that Fireflys are still flying in Battlestar Galactica! Check out the miniseries at around 14 minutes just as we meet the "president to be", watch the windows! BG is OK but give me Firefly any day of the week!

Good to hear Fireflys are still flying in the verse. I haven't watched Battlestar Galactica myself - I keep meaning to. There lots of Browncoats on here who do so I'll bump this thread up a bit.

George Lucas also included a Firefly in Star Wars, one appears in a Star Wars comic strip, and Whedon put a Star Wars ship in "Shindig" and "War Stories"

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Firefly-class_mid-bulk_transport

Quote:

The Firefly-class transport was a ship seen on the planet Coruscant's airways shortly after the declaration of the Galactic Empire.

The Firefly-class ship Serenity (Image not from Star Wars). The Firefly-class transport is a reference to Joss Whedon's TV show Firefly, and its spin-offs Serenity: Those Left Behind and Serenity. The stories revolve around the crew of a Firefly-class light freighter called Serenity, who act as independent traders, smugglers, outlaws, and adventurers much like Han Solo (to whom Whedon has compared Serenity's captain, Malcolm Reynolds). Whedon has also publicly stated that the idea of the show came to him while he was thinking about the Millennium Falcon.

The ship can be seen in the sixth strip of Evasive Action: Prey. Thomas Hodges, the illustrator, was responsible for its inclusion.

Whedon included a Star Wars ship, Starlight Intruder, in the background of the Firefly episodes Shindig and War Stories, and an Imperial shuttle in the pilot episode Serenity, so the cameo can be viewed as returning the favor.

Star Wars is not the only franchise to reference Firefly and Serenity by including a Firefly-class ship: another one appears over Caprica in the new Battlestar Galactica series.

I have also heard tell of a Star Wars ship in the BDM in the final battle scene...but I've only heard tell of this once, and no pics.

Sweet little touch, isn't it? - It's because the same FX house, Zoic, did the effects for both series. (It's also why you get that great handheld-camera look to the space sequences in both series. I have no patience with old-style eye-in-the-sky space animation anymore.)
