They're off and running! Get your copy now, they're down 200 or so already and there's only 750 to be had. Shipping will be $15 in the US, shipped in a tube in bubblewrap and then in a box.

I have to get a set of these. My wife has agreed to let me build a life-sized replica of Serenity in our front yard.

(She feels fairly confident that I won't be able to manage it, darn her.)

Sounds like she is using a little reverse psychology there.

Build it and they will come.

I found two places that still have some pre-order allotments for those who want to avoid the mad dash at midnight.

two other sites blackmarketbeagles and serenityverse
already sold out of their allotment so of the 750 there are probably already down to 700 or so.

There are probably going to be less than 500 sets at QMx in the end. Who knows how many dealers there are worldwide. There's probably a business in every major city in the US that could qualify to sell them, and each one gets 25 sets. Who wouldn't want the easy profit.

I can see how there could be another limited edition, this time autographed by someone else. Once all the autograph versions are sold, then comes the super discounted non-autographed limited edition of 3000. That's how it would work in the regular publishing world, because printing more copies is relatively cheap and reduces per unit overhead cost. Chances are several thousand copies were already printed in the first run and are just on hold for later. Sometimes I'm so cynical, and I shouldn't be.

I decided to take the bird-in-the-hand and get a set from KM Collectables. As I noted in the other thread, I definitely won't be keeping them in a tube either.

Well, considering that I have several much less ambitious building projects that are unfinished, I have to admit that she's probably right that I woulnd't manage it.

Still, wouldn't it be cool? My thought is that we'd then run it as a B&B. Guests could select the passenger dorms, the Kaylee suite, the Captain suite, the Jayne suite, the Washburn suite, or the top-priced Inara Shuttle Suite. Meals would be served in the kitchen. Internet access would be in the bridge, and laundry in the engine room. The cargo bay would contain a Firefly/Serenity museum and double as a space for panels, shindigs, and Bedlam Bards concerts. Weddings would be performed by a Ron Glass look-alike.

I can see it now . . .

There's a dentist's office in Orlando decked out like the Next Gen Enterprise. You have to do this, Ced, it's a moral imperative.

MOONPIE

I have always felt that of all the different spaceship designs there have been on countless movies and tv shows, that Serenity is, hands-down, the coolest, most realistic, most practically liveable ship ever. It was awesome in the original series, but the way they took it to the nth degree for the movie was genius. It became a character in itself, as believable as any of the excellent performances by the actors.

I worked in sfx for a movie production company years ago (Midland), and I recall how amazed everyone was by Alien because the ship actually looked lived in. The Nostromo design was considered revolutionary at the time simply because it didn't look like painted drywall and commercial carpet. We spent a great deal of time and money trying to design sets and models that didn't look like sets and models.

Every iteration of the Enterprise, never mind all the Star Wars ships, for all the costly effort that went into them, still look too obviously like movie sets at times. Serenity never does. These blueprints are testament to that. Everything looks like it actually works the way it should.

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

Cedric - you should get someone to help you, and I bet a lot of people would donate money if you set up some sort of PayPal system. Like it's been said above, it's your moral imperative. Do it! Prove your wife wrong! We'll give you a statue like Jayne... you'll be a hero!

In all seriousness, though, someone should build a life-sized Serenity. Find a multi-millionaire or something... then, eventually, we could maybe do some more live-action Firefly stuff. The crew would be there in a heartbeat, I bet.

Storage shed . . .

You mean Cargo Bay right. On Miranda, the crew walk by the outside of the Cargo Bay. The outside of your shed could look like that.

QMX is down to the last 300 or so now.

Going. Going.

As Bill Pardy would say "Yep".

I hadn't thought of weddings and Bed and Breakfasts Serenity before. I thought Universal could make the movie set at Universal Studios and sell tour tickets in between filming episodes for the SciFi Channel. But they could also hold weddings. Big Money in weddings now a days.

People could even redo they wedding vows dressed as Mal and Inara. Simon and Kaylee.

This could actually happen some day. They have hotels made of ice and underwater hotels.

I've got my set of blueprints ordered just in case I win the lottery one day.

Hi All,

I've been lurking so long I can't even begin to tell you all how long.

What prompted me to post is the blue prints.

My order was processed after 3 minutes after midnight the night they came on for sale.

My husband is so supportive of building one. We've got the space and we've been collecting scrap metal to do it. The only problem we had is someone starting stealing from our scarp pile. We think it is the garbage man.

That man is going to have a right bit of trouble coming his way.

Go for it. Just be sure and use lots of metal for the frame. I'm not so sure it would support itself if you only used wood...

Just a bump to remind folks about these. On QMX's website, the sell-o-meter that shows how many are left is reading "almost gone", so if you are wanting to build a Firefly of your very own, or if you are a particular doctor wanting to know just what the heck Kaylee is talking about when she gets all excited about the ship, pick your set of these up now before they disappear!

So who is he?

Oh my. I just received a copy of the QMx Serenity blueprints as a gift. I must say they are amazing in the detail that they put into them. Really beautiful.

My set was set number 721 of 750. They really are almost all gone, so move it people. If you are on the fence, jump off of it and get yourself these treasures!

'Cause if you don't, I might be talked into selling mine. There may be a few extra numbers tacked onto the selling price, however.....
