I really want to see Waitress, VeX, but I have to work the night it is near me. Hopefully I can still catch it at some point.

MAVOURNEEN

Morning, everyone.

Yeah, LA that Barkie Von Schnauzer thing stuck in my brain, too. How was the field trip yesterday? Husband is chaperoning Carson's trip to the zoo today. Hope for the Best!

RIMG, I believe I will claim my dance once I reach the bar today. Seems better than here next to the watercooler...

DTH I LOVE YOUR TAG! And you are Awesome!

I watch a dreadful amount of tv. I need to pry my behind off the couch some nights!
Heroes, Drive, Dresden Files, BSG, SG-1 & Atlantis, Dirty Jobs, Gene Simmons Family Jewels (It's actually quite good!), and too many more. My tivo has always got its red light on!

Kel, we've been tivoing Voltron for Carson. He is loving it. I think they are on Cartoon Network at 5 AM or so. (And Husband & I have been watching them, too!)

And now, I need my coffee. See y'all in a minute.

EDIT: I heard from HK this morning. She is doing well, and the water damage to her stuff looks to be manageable. Her renter's insurance is covering everything (I was thrilled to hear she had insurance!) and are paying her temp housing, moving costs, replacement, etc. Yay HK!
She also mentioned her original Firefly stuff is fine, too. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Hello again, Imponderables. I've missed the conversations.

Mavourneen: I took advantage of a moment last night to stop by Barnes and Noble to purchase Jim Butcher's Storm Front. (You mentioned that MSG has also read this series.) I missed the first half of Drive making that stop. I read it to about the half-way point after I got home. (Where he is put to bed by Karren after the bat-to-the-head. I'm looking forward to having another small block of free time to finish it.

No good deed goes unpunished - I'll recommend a book for you: I think you might like the character "Hutch" from the McDevitt books I've read. Priscilla "Hutch" Hutchins is a starship pilot. Her first appearance is in "The Engines of God" by Jack McDevitt. I've read almost all of Jack McDevitt's books.

Quote:

By the end of the twenty-second century, Earth's ravaged environment has become a time bomb ticking down to global self-destruction. Despite the fortuitous arrival of faster-than-light space travel, the search for a new home has so far located only one candidate--Quraqua, a desolate planet scheduled for terraformation within a few months. For interstellar archaeologist Richard Wald and starship pilot Priscilla Hutchins, the looming renovation threatens critical research on the enigmatic alien ruins on Quraqua and its moon, which include a bizarre false city dubbed Oz. Rousing little interest on Earth and facing an unyielding terraformation committee, Wald and his team undertake a last round of life-threatening expeditions to decipher Oz's secrets before they are swallowed forever by an emerging new world. With plenty of startling plot twists, a heavy dose of intrigue, and an unusual amount of character development for science fiction, McDevitt holds us fast right through to a thrilling finish. The yarn's less pure sf, though, than a rousing archaeological adventure transplanted to another star system.
