Greets, all. Just realized it's been a while since I'd updated the FFF.net gang on where we stand with the CSTS 2007 events... and believe me, they are full-fledged events.

There are 42 confirmed event locations in eight countries. (There are nine more locations still ironing out details. That makes 51 total markets. Hello, goal number one.) Tickets are on sale in 16 of those cities right now. You can find the Big Damn List on the front page of http://CantStopTheSerenity.com.

Quite a few of the markets are also taking pre-orders for the excellent t-shirts and posters for the 2007 events, designed by LexiGeek.com guru Adam Levermore-Rich. Even if you're not going to be coming to a CSTS event, get one of these great pieces of CSTS memorabilia. (You can always brag to your friends you went to an event somewhere in the world. Maybe Australia. We won't snitch you out.)

Attendees will have the chance to pick up some great door prizes, including a copy of the upcoming 'Serenity: Special Edition' DVD from Universal Home Entertainment and Serenity Found from BenBella Books -- months before they're available for sale. Also, someone who attends a CSTS event will be winning a cabin for two on the Browncoat Cruise in December 2007. There's one qualifying winner from each city holding an event, with the winner being drawn by BCC staffers on 2 July 2007. (Details on the http://cantstoptheserenity.com/faq.html FAQ page of CSTS.com).

All in all, it's going to be a great series of events, all benefiting Equality Now (Joss Whedon's charity of choice). If you have the means, I highly recommend you head to your closest event and join in the biggest shindig of the year.

Very glad you posted this. I'm always looking for Firefly events in my state. So glad to see one coming up in Tampa in June. And hey, the wife and I will be kidless that weekend, so yay.

How do these things normally work? Are you expected to donate money that night, or does some of your ticket price go to the charity?

Last year, it varied from city to city. Your best beet, as always, is to contact a particular city's organizers if you want to know how they're doing it.

FYI, up above I of course meant "your best BET" and not "your best BEET". I have no idea where you can get the best beets.

Yes, it is the followup to Finding Serenity, from the same publisher.

Re: the Sydney screening, you probably want to take a read through here:

^ Thanks for the information. I didn't know there was going to be another book. I just bought the first one last week. Guess I'll have to get to reading it!

BTW, you can get Finding Serenity for a total of only $12.56 (no tax, and free shipping; no minimum purchase) at http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=7862280. You can also get the first Serenity comic book compilation for $6.96 or the Serenity novel for $5.94 shipped. I've ordered from the site a few times and they are very reputable.

If the DVD is ready by June 16, winners will walk out with the disc. If it's still in production, they'll get a voucher to mail in to have the disc shipped to them. Same thing with Serenity Found.

Just a bump since the screenings are this month. Hoping to see some record #'s for the charity (w/ the bonus side effect of more attention for Firefly).

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

We set up shop at a local sci-fi convention this weekend to pimp our charity screening here in Charlotte.
Yesterday I spoke with a couple from somewhere near Ann Arbor and told them to look you up. Gave them a flyer with the CSTS website on it and warned them that you guys would probably show the film once school had resumed. They were very excited.
Course we also passed along info to fans from Raleigh, Arlington, Tampa and NYC. Lots of out-of-towners for this tiny little con.
