The appeal of NASCAR to me is strategy.

Clearly evident in this description...

The strategy, not the appeal.

My apologies, fair Hob. Talk of stock car auto racing. Mavourneen's hubby and I are of like mind.

Honestly - I couldn't name five pro football (American) players to save my life.

That's ok. I couldn't name five pro american football players. Hell I can barely name five football (soccer) players in england.

No offense intended. Just never got into football. And the behavior of the players on and off-field is horrendous.

Hey I can name 5 football players in England:) I think Rooney's kinda cute. Husband is a big Liverpool fan and is currently up in arms about MU being all upset and making comments about how unsupportive the league is when they wouldn't move a game to Sunday..

I have absolutely no idea what Mav, Flyvote, and Jonny are talking about... far as I know they're speaking in tongues.

OK someone promise me this week will end soon....

I think I could get more into NASCAR if they threw in a right turn every now and again. The drivers, that is, not the track designers.

I am miffed about the double standard he is displaying though, as it is not fair at all (and it is also a bit of personal angst because I really wanted to meet you at D*C).

EDIT: (forgot this part)
I had such a day off last weekend, and I actually just sat around and did nothing, which is a chenge from every weekend in 2007 so far. Video games, funny movies, and a little internet time. That's how mine was spent.

LOL...hmmm um just twirl around a few times and whoever your finger lands on, vote for them:)

If I had a free day like Mav is getting ...oooh I'd sleep til 10 am then get up and make myself a nice breakfast ( probably crustless quiche and fresh grapefruit) and then I'd go to the gym. After that I'd come home, take a nice long bubble bath, slather myself in lotion, and put on my favorite sweats. Then I'd get a stack of books and cuddle up on the bed all day reading (obviously getting up to make a nice lunch and maybe a spot of tea)Then I'd make myself a nice giant salad for dinner and watch NCIS ( or CSI or any of my other fav shows) until bedtime. Oh right now that sounds like nirvana and then some....I am so jealous Mav:)

OOOh good ponder though. If you had a whole day completely to yourself, what would you do with it???

It was a tit for tat. Had Zeek said that he doesn't care for NASCAR but likes football, I would have opined that I don't really care for football. All gentlemanly and polite-like. But throw an insult at me and one will come back.

Had the thread started to fill with football talk, I would have remained mute. Had someone stated how completely and passionately they despise NASCAR - cool. Everyone has an opinion. I respect that.

Insult me by mocking my words? Expect me to stop being a gentleman.

That is EXACTLY what I would do. Except more bubbles! And crepe suzette.

Well, no, all the details would be different. But the gist of the experience would be the same. To me a vacation isn't rushing to get on a plane and cram a week's worth of "fun" activities into a short period. It is doing almost nothing.

I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to get LotRO right away, Nicodemus. When I saw it in action about a year ago, it sucked big time. From what I've read recently, it sounds like they managed to make a few improvements since then (for instance, deciding what happens to your character when you die, which, I kid you not, they had no clue what they were going to do a year ago), but it's still quite underwhelming from what I've heard (I haven't checked it out for myself yet). The UI is World of Warcraft through and through, and the gameplay is standard fantasy MMORPG gameplay. The reviews seem to be mixed 50/50, with some people giving it 9.5+ out of 10, and a large many others giving it a 5 or less, for bad/boring gameplay, same old same old, etc. I've seen some people say that the feeling of being "in" Middle Earth is the best part, but given the timeframe they chose (during the Fellowship's trek -- I would have gone with Year 1 of the Fourth Age), I think that will wear thin pretty quickly.

Mmm, that all sounds a bit bitter, doesn't it? I guess I'm just annoyed at Turbine taking the very best licenses in the world and turning them into something monumentally bland and boring. I'm going to stick to WoW for now, and keep Middle Earth and Dungeons & Dragons where they belong -- on my bookshelf. (Btw, you have heard that there may be a Firefly MMORPG in the works, right?)

Scrolling down, still not touching NASCAR...

I guess...Reading. Clearing the TiVo. Napping. Cheez-It eating. And...since there will be no Husband and no child to look after...I am thinking there may be a small bottle of Sapphire gin washing down those Cheez-Its. I think the idea of down time is much more appealing than the actuality.
Especially if I am cleaning my own Cheez-It hork off the bathroom floor...

For the record, Jeff Gordon is not gay. There was no actual gay bashing going on.
For a long time, Jeff Gordon was a very dominant driver. And for good reason. He is a good driver. Fans of other drivers began to speak badly of him because of this. When his smokin' hot wife divorced him and wouldn't tell why she did it, there was speculation. Just speculation.
Jeff Gordon is now married to smokin' hot wife #2, and their baby is on the way.

You spoke to the rest of the group as if you were speaking on their behalf. In that way you chose to exclude me. As if my likes are wrong because you don't agree with them.

I took you to task. I chose words to insult you, not any community. I did that to make a point. If you feel that you should continue insulting me, go right ahead. It'll only make you look petty. You have a lot of growing up to do.

Laurelin Bata-ed LOTROL and hated it. The combat system is terrible and the graphics for the characters is sub-par for the first EverQuest. I was unimpressed with the 5 minutes I watched of the gameplay. I would pass on this one Nico.
