Oh, dear. Well...if your performance hasn't been up to par...maybe commit yourself to doing better.

Perhaps you will be getting a performance review with a "shape up in 30 days" sort of warning. If you haven't had previous poor reviews, I don't know if they can just out and out fire you unless you've clearly & directly violated company policy.

If you go into the meeting and she makes noises like she isn't going to fire you, let her know the note she left was a wake up call, and let her know you will agree to change whatever behaviour she indicates.

(HUG) Whatever happens, you have friends.

I have to run. I stopped by just meaning to see what was going on after I checked my mail. I saw your post and knew I had to respond.

Keep your chin up, Ms. Rose.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

No. Here is the problem. The problem is that my performance has not changed over the past year. The problem is that, unlike every night worker they've ever had, I keep quiet, stay pleasant, and do my job. The problem is that every time I'm honest about not being able to complete a pile of work they leave for me, I get warnings and write-ups about it, while the other woman who works nights flatly refuses to do a lot of the work left for her, and has also managed, by her attitude, to drive two people out of the company.
I am not the problem there. And I'm going to tell them that if they are seriously going to act like I am. Because I am not going to kiss anyone's fat ass or claim I'm capable of more work than I'm capable of just to stay in a company I hate, because that would be stupid. I'm going to, once again, be honest and tell them I'm working at full capacity, and that every time I get slapped for something tiny it lowers my morale.
Maybe not the wisest choice if I want to keep that job, but I'm sick of it, and I'm sick of how they treat me, and my only worry is that I won't be able to find another one or pay my bills. That is why I'm concerned. If they want to keep me on until the end of the summer, that's great, but I would have been leaving to go to school anyway, I just thought I'd have more time and that I'd be able to leave on my terms and not be likely to, say, lose my car and such. It's just really shitty timing.

Sorry to hear all that, things will get better soon.

And if they do fire you, it just means that you're supposed to move on to bigger and better things.

There are thousands of crappy jobs in the world, you can get another one.

Wait, how about one that *isn't* crap?!

Magda, sorry you've had a mucky time of it lately. I am standing my computer screen on it's head so that the hugs it sends are right side up and everything!

After a nap I am now ready to laugh at how the bad day just keeps getting better:
We borrowed dad's truck, loaded the fridge and ten or twelve old tires on it and headed out for the dump. Hubby took the other car so that he could hit the post office and library, and was going to meet me at dad's house. Dad had insisted that we drop the tires off at his house because he can put two per household per annum on the curb (he has a two apartment house), and he was sure his neighbor would help out too. What he thinks is going to happen to the other four to six I do not know..
Then we were going to head up North to start hauling more of our worldly goods down here.

I got most of the way to dad's house when there was a bang and a jerk and it got
R E A L L Y L O U D!!!!
I managed to get to his house, pull into the driveway and park it without the engine exploding like it sounded about to. So much for getting the house on the market sooner.

I unloaded the tires, getting covered in muddy tire water of uncertain vintage, called hubby (who was about five minutes behind me) and sat down to resolutley not cry.

We went home, I went to the grocery store so we would have food for lunch, I made lunch and started a pot of chili for later this week, we ate lunch, dad took our other car to go check on his truck.
He brought his truck to a repair shop, then when it came time to pay he realized he'd forgotten his wallet either in our other car or at our place. We went and picked up the other car (no wallet), son and hubby went to play at the park, I loaned pops the dough for the repair (catalyzer had broken away, they fixed it)and then went home to take a nap.
Awoke to the sound of my child forgetting about inside voices, and hubby taking over making dinner for me. I am about to dive face first into a glass of wine and something cooked on the grill.

I did no gardening in the buff, but I did have a tortilla with salsa on it. Tomorrow is another day. Not necessarily a better day, but another chance to improve upon the last couple, right?

I will now attempt to get my Zen on. (Where is that levitating Nirvana smiley when you need it?)

I just had an excellent little trip down to the Staples office store that just opened here. I went in to buy a chair, had a nice long conversation with the manager, and turned in an application
And tomorrow I have two or three phone calls to make.
I'm going to tell them that I can start immediately.
So. End of the week, I'm hoping to have a new job. End of two weeks, I will have a new job, dammit!
I can't wait to tell them that whoever it is that's so gung-ho for my shift who they keep holding over my head can go ahead and start

Indeed. Fortunately the "hours are wearing on me" explination is all anyone needs to know about a graveyard job. They're not going to ask me why I left, which will avoid a whole lot of awkward beating around the bush, since it doesn't make a good impression to speak ill of former (or current) employers.

You are right about the last.

Good for you, Rose. Not having to fight the sleep issues will be better for you. Good luck with the Staples position.

evening all, just a quick stop before bed, good to hear about your new job PR, prepairing myself for proof reading. I wish she'd get her sister who is doing a phd in English to do it rather than me but unfortunately finishing her own work and looking after two kids is time consuming!

I'll be sleeping in the corner.

Normal hours? Well, I'm in two minds about that, partly because it might mean a slight change in when I get to see you.
But no matter, if it gets you away from the current job, it's all shiny.

Merri-doll, Rose-doll, Rosie, (any others I might have missed lamenting), I am sorry for your troubles, they sound many. If I have anything in life that even resembles 'faith', it's the belief that everything happens for a reason. Rose, it sounds like your new opportunities are promising.
