So, they're gonna air it on a US holiday. When most people will either be at parties or out watching fireworks?

*voice of F*X* well, let's just make sure no one watches it! I know, let's air it when 3/4 of the country won't be home!

Brilliant.

That's the Fox we all know and hate. When have we ever known Fox to do things that would make sense to a normal person.

Well, since the Canuck's national holiday is three days earlier, at least the ones that won't be out on TRANSFORMERS opening day will be watching.

I dunno. I'm more of a half glass full kind of guy. When I hear that FOX will burn off the last two eps of DRIVE on July 4th, or that NBC will burn off the last few eps of STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP in ER's timeslot during June, I always think to myself "Well, better late than never." Just the fact that they are going to be on air or posted online shows that the networks at least have the decency to cater to the few poor souls who actually watched the show.

Are they finally gonna show the last of S60? I've been waiting on those for a long awhile now!

Yep. May 31st, after ER wraps up, they're showing the last five or so episodes of STUDIO 60. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that it'll be a one season wonder (personally I could never understand why people hated it so much. It actually DEALT with the high drama of producing a live sketch show more that 30 ROCK ever did.), so at the very least NBC is giving Sorkin and Co. the opportunity to wrap it all up.

You know, I was just thinking that I think the real reason why FIREFLY got shitcanned so early was just because of bad timing. If FIREFLY was created two or three years later, after LOST and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA hit and sci-fi series and serialized dramas were a bit in vogue, FIREFLY would've had more of a fighting chance.

ok... maybe I am crazy but, with 24 still getting sucky ratings (HEL LO! NOT DRIVE'S DOING...) if we all watched (or taped) Drive when they show it, and if all our friends watch too.. maybe Fox will see a bump for the show.. and MAYBE they will see the error of their ways and option the remaing year...

You know, borrowed girl just got a neilson package in the mail..........*FMF ponders the fact that (a) borrowed girl lives in FMF's house for free, (b) is smaller and less mean than FMF (c) and doesn't know it is here and what it is for........*

Well, i found this on my MSN homepage. From an article about new fall shows. It's just a snippet, but it explains some of their thinking.

"Most of us don't allow shows to grow," acknowledges Fox's programming chief, Preston Beckman. "We can be patient with a show like, `'Til Death' because it's a sitcom (that has) stand-alone episodes and people can discover it. But when you're going for something that's very high concept, that's going to require a weekly commitment, viewers are now going, `I'm not going to make that commitment.'"

That explains why a critical darling like NBC's "Friday Night Lights" is in danger of cancellation, while ABC's lesser-regarded "According to Jim" has lasted six seasons.

"Is it the wrong network? The wrong hour? The wrong time? Or is it that it just doesn't connect in some way?" Berlanti questions.

"It's really a guessing game," says analyst Brad Adgate of ad agency Horizon Media. `Heroes' is the only (new series) that's really had any traction with viewers (this season) ... So there's no guarantee that when you bring in a new show that it's going to do any better than the aging programming on the schedule."

MediaWeek columnist Marc Berman agrees: "Networks don't want to spend the money on too much new programming, because even a declining `ER,' for example, is going to be stronger than something new."
