And if I don't get an answer heads will roll!

During the episode "Our Mrs.Reynold's" after the gunfight, and late at night when the towns people were throwing our BDHs a celebration party, what was that music that they were playing when everyone was dancing around that big bon fire?????

This is the 3rd time I've asked this question and no one seems to want to answer it. PLEASE don't tell me that I'm the only Firefly fan who liked that particular music? I've looked all over the internet, and I looked on itunes and I can't find it. I also can't find the song "Hero of Canton" either.

I KNOW one of you have this music in your possession, so point me to where you got it and no one will get hurt.

-River

Dear River..please don't hurt me! I wish I had the answer to your question, but I do not. I just felt bad no one had responded to your earlier question. Sorry that I don't have the answers you are looking for.

you made me chuckle so...

Hero of canton is on YouTube with Baldwin singing it and as the mudders sing it.

I'm sorry about the other piece. Don't know.

There are 2 musical items in that festival sequence. The first was the "ho-down" music when Mal and Inara are discussing how he dressed as a woman. The second tune is the one that plays during the part when Mal and Saffron got "married".

If you are refering to the ho-down I don't know anything.

If you refer instead to the 2nd bit, I might know a thing or 2. If you watch Done the Impossible, the fan documentary, there is mention made of that tune. The Bedlam Bards, a bard duo, discuss how interesting it is and they go sofar as to teach themselves the chords in order to play it at ren fairs.

I'm given the impression that both are orginal works written by either Joss or Tim Minear. I was at a Browncoat gathering here in Indiana 2 weeks ago and a fellow there had a CD of all the Firefly/Serenity musical tunes. How to aquire the collection yet remains a mystery to me.

Believing it's called The Sailor's Wife...
*grin* I listened to the Signal a while ago, and they say it's on the Firefly TV soundtrack.

May not be smart, and it may not please you, but you're definitely gonna see what I have to say.

For the wedding music, try the Firefly soundtrack available on Amazon. For an expanded version of the wedding music AND an excellent rending of "Hero of Canton", get "On the Drift" by the Bedlam Bards. Available from CD Baby ( http://www.cdbaby.com) or check out the Bedlam Bards website. I purchased "On the Drift" and was very happy with it. It's a cool mixture of folk and filk music.

Credit Higgins with this, I merely followed his link.

Edit: Wow....these guys did a hell of a job with "River's Jig".

the wedding music I believe was music that fox already owned the rights to, Greg Edmonson "arranged" it for Firefly.

And yes, the Bedlam Bards, www.bedlambards.com have a wonderful version of it.

There are a great number of music cues I would have liked to have been on the soundtrack CD, including those two.
The one I really wanted was the "Eavesdown Docks" music!

Fortunately, somebody posted a "Firefly Music Mix" MP3 a year or so ago, and it had most of the stuff that was missing from the soundtrack, so I happily have it on my iPod.
Unfortunately, it's 14.8MB, so I can't email it to you.

Just a bit of trivia -- I was poking around on the Bedlam Bards website and noticed that they have a free download of the karaoke version of "Hero of Canton".
I think that would be a must-have for any shindig!
