Hmmm.... Yeah. "Safe" isn't one of my favourites. I have a bunch of drafts of that episode, and I read through many of them, and they're all kind of... odd... as if they knew the highlights of what they wanted to say, but couldn't quite get it perfect. Ah well.

My least favourite episode is "Heart of Gold." Too many whores. (Heh. Kidding. There's just something not quite right about that episode.)

Speaking of whores, I was gonna go back and comment on the prostitution thread, but after reading it all, CaliforniaKaylee said just about everything I was going to say (and she probably said it better). ^^

I am offically living like a rockstar now. I would post pictures, but so far, they're all X-rated.

When I read this, I thought to myself "Yeah...I'd like to live like a rockstar."
But then I realized it would involve having my posessions doing the backstroke through my living room...so I've decided against it.

"Heart of Gold" amuses me as it has a red haired woman having hot monkey love with Mal...

*digs toe in dirt*

...but I agree the ep has a few issues. Maybe, that is why, across the board, it is the lowest "rated" ep.

Oh and my computer has completely decided to bugger up so I'm having to use the laptop until we get a new one.

Not surprising since there's the whole CK-HK-Mavs thing. There's the Christian threads River6213 has started. Been incredibly civil convos so far ('cept for a tiff 'twixt FMF and Causal, though I'm perplexed a) why it's a tiff, and b) how it could happen without either of us involved)

I am really not like CMH. I at once admire him and understand others', erm, revulsion from him. He did have a habit of enraging folks and I can irritate people to the extreme; that's the "similarity" I was referring to. However, I'd gladly accept even an insult from you; crumbs from the master's, er, mistress's, er, your table.

I know this, too.

He "enraged" people with his honest convictions based on his limited (he's a young guy, no?) life experiences. He has an honesty and purity about him that is actually quite refreshing. If people can't agree with his beliefs, at least they can respect him for believing so strongly and honestly.

You irritate people to the extreme with your arrogant, incredibly presumptuous, half-assed, inappropriate attempts at "humour," continuously provoking them like an ignorant little child. You get called on that and you hide behind pathetic excuses of that same ignorant little child, claiming that, gosh, you just didn't know any better or you just can't help yourself, which really goes far for insulting people's intelligence while trying to "apologize." Then you do it all over again.

(Yes, this is me being "not very nice.")

Are we deteriorating so soon? Hot space Monkey Love and Buggering Up. Juxtaposed so as like that, I git sceared.

Ariel. See, I guess the problem I have with every single "bad", "least favorite", whatever, episode is that there are such excellent moments that the taint wears off quickly for me. Jayne learning and then inappropriately reciting his line for me is not just one of the best moments in the episode but of the whole show, as far as Jayne moments go. And the airlock shows us that even though he did something vile, he knows shame and he actually has feelings deeper than appetites. Just as we saw him watching and worrying about kaylee in the Serenity episode.

Plus it showed us a different side of Simon. As did Safe, maybe. Hmmm. Is that a common thread here? Maybe?

Sorry I was running around writing papers...boring:)

Actually it's the knowing of what's to come that ruins Ariel for me. Knowing Jayne will betray them. knowing it will damage Mal's trust in him and knowing he is acting at his worst makes that episode less enjoyable for me.

By the way...next person bickering is getting a smack...It's bad enough when a bunch of 12-15 year olds are doing it, but come on people we are grown ups. Use your polite words and discuss without accusation...

Ah, the glorious weekend is over with only 5 days of blah to look forward to. GACK.

Least favorite episode was SAFE. There are some wonderful moments in it (BDH was coined, Jayne hanging out of Serenity, Mal with 'She's our witch', River and the cows...etc), but the ep as a whole just falls flat. I tend to skip it to...or clean house while it's on instead of actually watching.

Ariel is one of my favorites.

Morning all!

I was lurking a bit on Friday (caught a flu bug, managed not to run a fever, woot), and I saw this bit about building a bookcase. How did that turn out, HK? I've been thinking about building one myself -- I know exactly what I want, but I've had trouble finding it ready made for less than $1000. The biggest project of this sort I've done up to now is sanding down and staining a cedar chest, but putting together something rectangular like this doesn't seem too difficult. I think I could get everything I need from one of the chain home improvement stores, but I don't have a circular saw or the space to put one here at home. Do any of the chain stores cut supplies to your specifications?

So how would you say the project went, HK?

So Baby Sis and GND met "She Who Lacks Consideration" at the park a few nights ago while playing volleyball. Naturally GND was critical saying, "I can't believe you'd go for someone so girly."

I think she may be one of the only girly-girls I've ever considered. Usually I like a woman with a stong back and good wind, ambitious, well spoken, strong willed...

I just don't get any of it right now. Y'all are right about just needing a break from the likes of both of them. GND seems to feel the need for me to know about the guys she's seein' and I honestly can't care. I don't want the jealous feelings that I really shouldn't be having.

On a bright note the mission planned with Out2the black's group Spaceborn Forces and JP Aerospace is a go so I'll be out in the desert the weekend of the second. Our PB group is planning a camping trip in the next month. I might start work on a new Rez Rod in the next few weeks. The scenario planned for September is still something I'm saving up for, one very long weekend.

And what can be brighter than all of that? I feel younger than I did at 21. Kinda wierd, just feel younger for some strange reason.

My answer to your question (that you didn't ask) is to refer to the paragraph prior. I think that this is the first time in a very long time that you posted about something you were planning to do for you. You are not wondering how to fix anyones problems and so forth. You are planning stuff that you want to do!

You actually sound (typed, whatever) a little happier today especially when you were talking about PB. Makes me smile Bud!

I know Lowes and Home Depot will cut wood to spec length, width and non-fancy other cuts, but I don't know fersher if they provide full service spec cutting like you might be suggesting (dovetails and maybe routing). Any true lumberyard should be able to do this sort of thing. The question then goes: "does the cost of my special cuts make Ikea look better?"

Glad your fluey didn't get gooey. Hope you feel much better soon.

Hmm, I don't know that I would worry about dovetails for this project, and I've been thinking about buying ready-made molding to finish the top edge, and just getting Home Depot/Lowes to cut the molding at a 45 degree angle for me (or figuring out a way to do that myself without large tools). I've also considered putting doors on the lower shelves, and buying ready-made doors as well. I would probably figure out exactly what I want by going to the store and seeing what they've got, much like I do with sewing projects, hehe. My biggest worries are the physical size of the bookcase (can a 5'1" woman make a 6" bookcase by herself?), and getting the shelves level.

And Ikea's stuff is waaaaay too light colored for my taste. This bookcase would actually be replacing the one piece of light wood furniture we still have, a pale pine folding bookcase from hubby's bachelor days. I'm thinking something more like this:

Thank you for the get-well wishes. I was feeling fine by Friday evening -- the thing with having a psychotic immune system is that if I can get through the first 12 hours without running a fever, I'll be just fine. My immune system will stomp out any intruders pretty quickly. The trick is keeping it from flipping out and attacking some part of my body.

GND doesn't think She is NVG's type. And she wants to make sure he knows she isn't interested in him in that way, so tells him about the guys she IS interested in.

So yeah, I've been doing stuff for myself but rarely tell anyone of those things. Took BabySis with me to Reno to my aunts house. I was doing some sidework for her and took an hour or so to browse some of the shops in Reno. Found a butt load of movies for dirt cheap. We went and saw 28 Weeks Later and it F-ing rocked. Sunday we had a two on wo shoot for five hours. No sisters or "other" females. Just four guys blowing off steam. It was great. No griping. No jealous remarks.

Here's what bothers me MSG. GND is young and sems to need the negative attention that comes with my jealousy. I just can't have any part of it. And not that it is all her fault, alot of it is mine. But it really don't help getting out of the shower, getting ready for work, and running into her standing in the kitchen with only a t-shirt and panties on. The conversation was fine, but the ride to work was, constrictive?

I threw, threw, away a stapler this morning. It'd been giving me crap for days so I cured the problem.

Still
very
torn

ADD: After a long talk last week that is a half right Rugbug. There is alot of confusion in her life right now and she mentioned not wanting to give up on me, but that she can't be with me now. That takes me back to a list of stupid shit I've been told before:
1. I just need time
2. I just can't get into anything serious right now
3. You're just too good for me
4. I don't want to lose you as a friend

Sure I've kept a few frinds over the years. And I was even there to help those friends through problems no one else would help with. But what is this too good shit? I've heard it enough times to make me wanna puke.

Not to sound lost or anything (or to intrude where not welcome) but......

Doesn't GND stand for Girl Next Door? Why in all the hells was she standing in your kitchen in her panties?

Seems a line might have been crossed there along with a doorway.

Eh heh heh heh... never let a bored engineer play with raw materials, hand tools, and power tools. It never turns out well. *snort!*
(ooooh, what i could do with a TIG welder, lathe, and end mill...!)

Okay, so, yes, I got bored... and I hadn't found a job yet, so I had plenty of time to kill. And I needed a bookcase / CD case thingie. No store had what I wanted. So in leaps the boredom thing! I actually had no plan; I just bought a bunch of wood bits, sawed, nailed, sanded, bled, drilled, laughed. You know. Standard kinda carpentry. And I had a f**king blast doing it. Aaaaaand, perhaps more imporantly, I learned what not to do next time.

The bookcase (which was also taller'n me) turned out just fine. Finely* crafted to within precise** tolerances so everything that needed to fit did... glove-like, I'd say. Then I painted it black. Well. Most of it. I got too impatient painting the undersides of the lower shelves. Besides, who looks under there anyway? *snikker*

All in all, it was tremendous fun and turned out functional, as intended. When I switched apartments, though, I tossed the ugly f**ker out. *shrug*
I'd definitely do it again, and I'd probably be a little more ambitious with the actual art of carpentry - dove tails, moulding, actual measurements, etc. - than I was the first time around.
(Building that, incidently, was why I was in Home Depot being propositioned for dominatrixy.)

Sooooo... I guess I'd say "go for it!" Is fun. ^^
But don't take it too seriously, in case it doesn't go the way you planned and you end up having to buy one already made. ^^

Rugbug- oh I made that assumption based on the backstory of the whole GND thing...She's a bit younger and still kind of finding her way...but naturally attracted to NV who is such an amazing guy. I just don't think she's ready to deal.

HUGS NV- ok well that was unfair( the semi naked thing)..I still have to say she's really insecure. It think that's where the liking the negative attention comes in. It "proves" to her that you care. Some women just don't know their own worth and need someone else's reaction to give them a sense of value( which is sad but kind of typical of her age and all) and I am really hoping she wises up and figures out where she's going...'cause I'd hate to have to bap her six ways from Tuesday....but I would
You know they have mail order brides...they ought to have mail order grooms. I know some great women who could really use a date with a guy like you.

Ok I absolutely cannot get sick or have any kind of accident. My classroom is a MESS and it' looks like a small hurricane passed through. I don't have time to clean it now, but I'd be so embarrassed if I had to call a sub or something ...
Ok I am out of here...see you all tomorrow

It's Darwin, the 'capital' city of a territory full of kidnapped backpackers, dry zones (including some areas that only sell non-sniffable petrol) and Paul Hogan wannabes.

Oh, and HK, when you say 'precise', you're talking in the same terms of 2+2=5 (for large enough values of 2) I guess?
