Thank you LaurenceHunt and welcome to FFF.net.

Great blog post!

It's kind of a tradition to give newcomers their own virtual browncoat upon arrival... it's a rather silly tradition and I'll understand if you find it trite... but it's meant as an inclusive gesture into our Firefly family.

*hands LaurenceHunt a browncoat from the storeroom*

Post often, we love to talk and especially about Firefly/Serenity. There are lots of guerrilla marketing campaigns launched and getting ready to launch, avail yourself of information about those down below the General Discussion forum in the Guerrilla Marketing forum.

Your blog post will go a long ways towards pulling in new fans, which is what we need for a sequel.
People, lots of them, buying stuff and willing to buy tickets and more stuff.

Make yourself to home.

*waves to Chindi*

Thank you for your kind words. Let's give Joss credit for treating intelligence as an important element of the act of viewing his work.

Thank you LaurenceHunt, appreciate the link to the Browncoat Board and the use of our shiny banner as well.

I noticed on your blog that you visited family in Missouri... whereabouts in Missouri?

I live in the southwest corner of the Show Me state.

I'm originally from Springfield, so pretty close. I was quite influenced by Robert Heinlein, who was from Butler, Missouri. Lived in Canada since 1971 though.

Oh, my yes you did live close to me.
I have heard that Canada is lovely.

Robert Heinlein....ahhhh my youth was filled with Robert Heinlien. Stranger in a Strange Land was a defining moment in my life.

Frank Herbert as well.

I'm glad you've found Firefly/Serenity. It was the first thing that captured my imagination like the books I first discovered all those years ago now.

Re Canada, I note that Kaylee and Mal are Canadians. Lovely but often chilly is probably an apt description.

I was exposed to Heinlein in my junior high and high school years, so was first influenced by his juvenile novels, which I still think are the best, as well as the future history series.

I also read Herbert, though that was somewhat later, and of course read Stranger in my college days.

Firefly caught me entirely by surprise, as current science fiction is usually so derivative. Whedon is truly a brilliant fellow. My conclusion - Firefly was too good for TV. It proves the lowest common denominator hypothesis.
