I've been a Browncoat for a couple years and have been checking this site now and then but finally decided to join the fray...
There have been a few tv shows over the years that I've loved, but I've never fallen IN love with a tv show before. That's Firefly.
I saw the Serenity movie first. I'd seen the commercials (and good reviews) when the movie was out and knew I had to see it. A friend lent me the DVD months later and that was it, I got hooked. I had to have the complete series!
As you folks know watching that series is a special experience. The first night after I had watched the first six episodes I dreamt on Serenity. That was cool... I woke up and thought, "Hun dan!" (Well, not really.:)
I went on the net and started searching Firefly stuff and that was the first time I registered the name Joss Whedon. A while later I learned that he'd written the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie... I loved that movie and have had it on tape for years. In fact I loved it so much that I avoided the Buffy tv show like the plague! I didn't know that the creator of the character was behind the series, and didn't want to chance ruining the affection I have for the movie! (Oh well, :), if you snooze, you lose, people!)
In the next few weeks I kept being surprised at finding the projects he'd been involved in. i.e. Alien Ressurection and Titan A.E., movies I'd had in my collection and enjoyed alot. I'd been a fan of Joss's for years and didn't even know it!
(Yes, I call him Joss, we're very close.:)
Pure, simple and understated: The guy is good!!!

So there's my Firefly/Joss (er... Mr. Whedon) origins. I hope beyond hope that Firefly will be tv series again, but I'm realistically doubtful that it will. Maybe we can get Serenity flying again!!!

And now for a piece of trivia you may already know around here but just in case you don't:
Did you know that a

Welcome SlyC!! We get several new people a week who post after finding us...and 'lurking' a bit. I also discovered Firefly AFTER seeing Serenity on cable...and suffered through some 'guilt' because I never knew the show first! Have a nice, long look around and others will be by shortly to welcome you with Mudder's Milk, strawberries and a virtual browncoat.

It's cool to have another Browncoat join the ranks.

I wasn't aware of the piece of Joss trivia. That's pretty bizarre and cool!

Did you know that Joss Whedon also wrote 'Toy Story'? For a while, I was like yourself, in that I wasn't aware of his movie projects.

It's dead easy to settle into this site. If you have a query, there's always someone around to help. Check out the Blue Sun Room for your fan fic and fan art needs. There are lots of talented fans here.. Check out the archive there too. There are tonnes of great things in the Blue Sun Room!

Where do you hail from? There's a vast, international community here. I'm from Scotland.
