Thanks guys. Orion is a great little horse and it was relaxing to know he would be good, as opposed to the tension from riding my horse who doesn't always behave (Orion isn't mine).

Granted...it's weird and combines boredom with periods of frantic stress... oh well it's money:)
Mav I am sending wishes of jobs your way and I had an idea...well 2 ideas
1- your local Small Business Association will know of any local business that are receiving a loan and expanding and that might be a valuable resource..
2- Have you tried apply with the State govt?? They always need managers and such. Boring , I know, but hey.
3- Banks they have the right hours and you're probably all set to be a loan officer or some such with just a bit of training...

Hey, I didn't think of that. I was just please that it wasn't the old baby shit brown that most 8th place ribbons are. It's a beautiful chocolate color. Yum, chocolate.

Let's see...I've bored msg and chased away others with the horse talk...(see why I'm single...most people can't stand my favorite topic of conversation )...What can we talk about?

I got nothing 'cept maybe a rant about co-workers who are "sick" on Monday...or Tuesday. I'm sorry, but the best bet if you're really sick is to come in so we can see you're on death's door and then leave early, because no one really believes your sick. We all think you're playing hooky and extending your weekend. Or is it just me?

I personally don't care if someone takes a sick day right on a weekend, to extend it, because it really doesn't affect my work, and I don't really care about the people I work with too much. However, if my work depended on others', and they had taken a sick day, then I would certainly want some tangible proof that they were indeed sick, and not just taking a long weekend. :)

Oh, and one reason you're single is that you live way too far away for me to commute there for a date night.

On the upside, at least I won't be going to the new doctor this Friday saying "well I feel fine right now but usually I feel like crap, think you can diagnose that?"

Sorry for the flare. Hope it stays just long enough for the mechanic, er, doctor to see it and then vanishes immediately without a trace. On a bright note on my side of the tracks, I thought of you this weekend. Among the billion and one things we sell at Job #2 ( ! sorry Mavs ! Really not rubbing it in. Honest. Ahhh. You one of the few that means it when she says, "Can't we just be friends?" And you hold them in such thrall that they can't help but say yes. Poor fools.

All kidding aside. I do understand the ick factor. You just can't "think of them that way". It seems positively unnatural and ought to be illegal. Aren't there any that weren't part of the upbringing who could be counted among a wider circle of friends where an attraction might have occured?

Also there is a bit of truth to the statements about not being "friends" from the start but the friendship part grows out of the romance. I think it is essential for folks to be best friends to be happily married. If the friendship doesn't come maybe marriage is not the road to travel together.

Not with my friends. Most of them are girls (and I'm still on the fence about the whole attracted to women thing), and even with the guy friends I did have, there wasn't an attraction there.

Definitely agree there. Love's great and all, but if you don't actually like the person you're with, the relationship's not in for smooth sailing.

I can see what you mean, DeepGirl, and I don't disagree. There wasn't ever a point when hubby and I were "just friends". The two months that we knew each other before we started dating we were actively pursuing and flirting with each other. And within a year of meeting each other we were engaged, heh.

I did have one friend from college whom I could have dated (but never did), but he and I had "the talk", when we sat down and talked about how we could date, but we wouldn't ever want to break up, so what would that mean in the long run. We decided that we were on two very separate paths (this was 6 years ago, and he's still in med school now), but that if it was meant to happen it would happen later down the road. But even there, it wasn't like we were friends with no attraction and then one day just suddenly thought about dating, it had always sort of been an undercurrent in our friendship.

OTOH, I know a girl who just got engaged to her roommate, a guy she'd said for years she didn't want to date because she didn't want to ruin their friendship. So who knows, maybe the friends-first thing can work for some people. (Or maybe she accepted his proposal after crying on his shoulder during a recent bad break up. Seems more likely from my perspective. )

I wasn't really planning on going at any point, since it's the weekend before a large work-related event (the event that last year had me working 9am to midnight for the last 14 days before, just to be ready). That and I have to pick-and-choose my air travel and large crowd situations pretty carefully -- this mini-flare (or beginning of a big flare, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed) started the day we flew back from that wedding in Colorado, for instance. I am looking forward to reading the reports and seeing the pictures, though.

OK I think we pondered out the friends first thing. Since the thread is dead how about a variation? Roommate's first? Would you ever start dating a roommate? I'd think that'd just be a bad plan for a new relationship. Moved in together from day one? Just curious if anyone has tried it and how it went or whether you'd even consider it.

I know Fly is gonna jump down my throat for saying this...but taking Modafanil every now and again doesn't seem like a bad idea at times like that. Staying up 36 hours without any side effects???

NO SIDE EFFECTS? That's better than meth. Where can I get some of that?

*hugs Mavs* See you when you get back.

On top of the caffeine? Yikes! Let me know the next time you do that in case I happen to be on the road in MD the same time you are...

On the serious side, should I be worried about you? Seems to me sleep, like pain, is your body's way of telling you something.

Oh and speaking of Fly, I'm sorry I didn't say Happy Anniversary! yesterday. I thought about you a lot yesterday in fact. I say to you Bravo, good sir.

Morning all- sorry busy morning, plus the online house hunting is a bit distracting..finding some great stuff though in the $250,000 range so that's GREAT!! I was so worried we'd have to go up to $300,000 to find anything.

Hmmm date a room mate. It'd depend on the situation but maybe..

I kow it's so sad Roxy won't be there...FMF opines that we've somehow got a case of the anti-money flu and are passing it around...
