It is entirely possible they made "handles and sorts incoming mail" to sound as difficult as possible, and the actually job is something I can definitely do. The recruiter read a laundry list of stuff the job entails and it is a lot.

I worry about the hours, as the last time I had an intensive job, my home life was reduced to nil.

Zen Zen Zen Zen Zen Zen Zen Zen

I think its the salary that is freaking me out. Most jobs in the "Administrative Assistant" category pay about 20K less in the DC area.

But I understand the worry about a job that will overwork you and mess your life up..it's so hard to find the balance.

Hi Everyone, just wondereing, does anyone know who started the TPBM game? I was thinking of starting it over on the Universal HD board, you know, something to pass the time and get a laugh while posting there and I just wanted to ask whoever it was if that was OK. Best to be polite and ask before stealing something,

Happy, happy day for Dylan!

Mavs, what LA said. But I still think you got the chops. I mean after dealing with the bozo salespeople at the furniture store...

MsQ and I accidently went swimming on Liberty St. here at lunch time. Almost. I would say to go ahead and start it on the Universal board, and just say you got the idea from this board. Odds are it has been around a while, based on what the game actually is, and that whomever brought it here might have gotten the idea from elsewhere as well.

That, or use the archive feature to look up the first one.

True obfuscators don't care what the media is. We can adapt. RL poses different challenges, but one with talent can find the workarounds. People leave you all kinds of openings.

Unless that's some sort of veiled threat, oh Yeti One. ("I wonder how funny you are going to be able to be at D*C when you have your tongue taken out.")

Sh*t. You hit the detonator with that clown. I hope no one has any loved ones in northern Russia.

Every now and again I check IMDB to see what our BDHs and other shiny actors are doing:

This movie looks interesting, and it has Adam and Morena in it.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0977663> Sands of Oblivion

Adam, plus Anne Heche and James Marsters.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0934706/ Superman: Doomsday

Summer is in The 4400 still, and the new Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Gina's show Standoff is airing again, I think they are new episodes.

Nathan will be in the last two episodes of DRIVE to air on the 4th of July.

This movie that Chiwetel Ejiofor is in sounds interesting, and has some big names in it (Denzel, Russell Crowe, Cuba Gooding Jr.): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0765429/ American Gangster. He's also in http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1012804/ Redbelt, which has some good names in it (the guy who played Xerces in 300, and Tim Allen too) as well as being directed/written by David Mamet, who is known for The Unit.

David Krumholtz is of course in Harold and Kumar 2, and also another movie called http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0841046/ Walk Hard that looks to be very funny based solely on the casting.

That's all for now, I am headed home. I may get on from there later on tonight.

Okay, as long as the definition of "retard" doesn't include people who lock themselves into imaginary rooms smashing--of all things--virtual glass clowns, then, Yeah, I think we're all good here.

I really trying to understand this, hon. Really I am. For days, almost weeks, you've been waiting to hear from someone, anyone, about a job. Now the potential for a job beyond your expectations comes knocking on your Opportunity-don't-live-here door, and you want to look Rugbug's horse in its mouth?

You are beyond capable. Here's the thing about the job being too big for you: they need you because they don't know how to do it. If they did, they wouldn't be hiring someone for it. As such, long before they could ever find out the job is more than you can handle you will have had time to figure it all out and handle it better than they could ever hope. I deal with administrators all the live long day and the higher they are (no pun intended), the less they know about what needs to be done. That can't help but work in your favor. The reason Office Space is so popular is not because it's farce, it's because it's true. Likewise the Office and Dilbert. Who knew what forms needed to be filled out and for what and by when at the Ridiculously Expensive Furniture Store? Mavs. Who knew when the salepeople had no clue? Mavs. Who did the boss's wife take up for in her husband/boss's face when it needed doing? Mavs. Do you see the pattern? You have what it takes.

Now the time away from home thing is totally different. That is something you will have to weigh seriously and I can't help you there. Only you know what your thresholds are. But I can tell you this. Just like CK coming in here with both guns blazing (Hi Love! ), we will always, always be here for you. To pick you up. To hold you tight. To wipe away your tears and to jump for joy when the time is right. And you have Husband and Tidbit to inspire you. How can you possibly make a bad choice with all that going for you?

My mom just asked me who I know in Palestine.

I blinked at her.

Our cell phone bill shows 21 text messages from/to Palestine, apparently. Of course, no times or numbers given, or even whether it was to or from.

WTF? Four people send me text messages. Two of them are right here in this state, and two of them are in Australia. All the texts to and from Australia were shown, too. I know I haven't gotten any random texts, and as far as I can tell all the ones I've sent out have gone where they were supposed to. Hard for them not to when I generally just go in and use 'reply' to send one. Couldn't have sent any to some random number in Palestine. I checked my sent log; all the ones I've sent this month are still there, and all to people I have saved to my phone.

I say again, WTF???

It's 1:39 AM, and I just got home.

I've been walking since about 9:30 PM.

I don't have a lot of friends 'cause people don't "get me".

So, I generally hang around with family, and I don't have very much of that.

So, earlier when my mom and grandmother got into this big fight, I freaked.

I'm still freaking. It seems like, the one thing I thought would always be there, is slowly slipping away.

And it hurts.

And I don't know how to deal with it, maybe because I went through a lot when I was little, but I don't know how to process this stuff.

But I need to know that there's something out there that makes all this pain worth it.

because at this rate, there'll be nothing left of me.

Morning all,

busy day ahead so wish you all the joy of the day whilst I'm slaving over hot keyboards.

Zero mate, families are tricky at the best of times and life is horribly complex, much more so than a people will have you believe, try not to process everything so that it makes sense because it doesn't, it's just too complicated. I wouldn't worry about people not getting you either, if they're not smart enough to figure things out then that's their problem and I don't sit here looking at your posts thinking, huh, so there's one for you who gets you and if you look round the bar I figure you'll see a lot of others.

PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Zero, very few people get me, either. I went through my entire adolescence not being 'got'. On top of that, my dad didn't 'get' me either. I was miserable and angry a lot. I slowly gathered a group of friends, people I loved very much. In the course of six months, I lost two of the most important ones, and wondered if they had ever 'gotten' me either. So then I had one person who really got me no matter what, always understood where I was coming from. If she hadn't been around, I might have just never gotten out of bed.
Then I found this place.
Not to say everyone here gets me or that the ones who do know where I'm coming from all the time, but it's a whole lot of people getting me a pretty nice chunk of the time. They pulled me out of the deepest funk I've ever been in, and they keep me out of it every day.
I don't think I could ever express how much the Browncoats mean to me, and I don't know what I would do without them.
So, the whole point of this ramble is that you're lucky. You found this place before I did.
We get you, and we're here to talk any time you need us. Some people might come and go, some people might not get you, but you have the whole huge Browncoat population worldwide to draw from, and a lot of them are bound to be the most amazing people you've ever met. It's the beauty of the time and the technology; there's the potential to talk with literally anyone on the planet, and there are enough people on the planet that a lot of them will see things in a similar light as you do, and you have a way to find them. We're lucky. Think of all the people in the past who had a small town of people they could ever possibly talk to, when a few hundred miles away was remote, where the other side of the world might as well have been the dark side of the moon, and international friendships were unheard of and unspeakably exotic. We have something previous generations couldn't have; we have the world.
My dad still doesn't get me. He's still living in his small town and I'm living here. But that's okay because he still talks a lot about not belonging, and I have scores of people all over the globe who make me feel welcome in their hearts.
You're welcome in our hearts, Zero. It'll be okay.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Thanks?

I practice.

Think I'll use my eloquence as a launching pad for a new thread, how about it?
