New fan... livin' the life.

Hi. Just started watching Firefly by accident about a month ago, and am now about 3 episodes from finishing. I'm a long-time nomadic sci-fi watch, grazing where I can, but this show has made me somewhat philosophical...

No phasers, contraptions, ranks, or other fake tech are really necessary to be a fan of this show. It just rquires a few things:

Independent mindset
Cussedness
Desire to be self-sufficient
Comfortable with being rootless and mistreated
Penchant for brown or pseudo-19th century clothing
Some jargon

Also, an observation: All science fiction shows that I can think of (that involve a vehicle) show that vehicle powering its engines at some point during the main titles. I love that Serenity goes full durn to a banjo. Not horns, orchestra or mournful sopranos - a banjo.
