I'll start by saying that SPACE is the Canadian version of the USA SciFi channel.

On Space tonight, they gave the Top 10 SciFi Male Movie Hero's

1.Indian Jones - Harrison Ford
2.Star Trek - J. T. Kirk
3.Hans Solo - Star Wars - Harrison Ford
4.James Bond - Pierce Bronsman
5.Star Wars - the young Obi-Wan Kenob - don't know which new movie it was from
6.Shaft - Shaft
7.Matrix - Neo - Kenu Reeves
8.Men in Black - J - Will Smith

.9. SERENITY - CAPTAIN MAL REYNOLDS - NATHAN FILLION

10. Lord of the rings - ???

Personally I'd be much happier if he were at the Number One spot, at least he is in my opinion.

Shaft? Science fiction? Eh?

James Bond? Well, I suppose there have been some sci fi elements in a few Bond films but doesnt really seem to fall into the genre per se.

I am going to be happy he's in the top ten.

But I agree I'd like it better if he was #1!

Keanu Reeves BEFORE Nathan? But... but... Nathan can ACT! Sounds more like best known than best hero's. (keanu friggen reeves?)

Would #10 be Vigo Morttenson or the one who played Legolas? (damn memory blur)

You want Heros, I'll give ya Heros... and not the trite beauty/popularity contest of pop culture it always winds up being, neither.

Here's a top-ten for ya.
-------------------------

#1 - Ellen Ripley
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_(film)
Just plain flat out badness, how many heros successfully commit Xenocide, TWICE ?
And die, and don't STAY dead, but just get badder ?

#2 - Joachim Stueben
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammer's_Slammers
Face it, Joe is a guy you totally want on YOUR side, mainly to keep him off someone elses!

#3 - Tron
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tron_(film)
Come on, you just gotta hand it to Tron, a Libertarian "Hero" who's a program, that's beyond original.

#4 - MOMO
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momo_%28novel%29
No, not the one from Xenosaga, but from a book well worth reading.
And very very worthy of the title "Hero" as well.

#5 - Lon Suder
http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Lon_Suder
In a show where everything is too perfect for belief, Lon stands out as more human than the humans, and in the end, finds redemption.

#6 - (tie) Ray Butts & T.C. McQueen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space:_Above_and_Beyond
Classic Semper-Fi badassery, I couldn't really decide, although McQueen is more likeable.

#7 - Grayson Burrows
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Commander:_Privateer
Snarky smartass smuggler and general selfish bastard becomes hero-by-accident, GREAT game as well, any Browncoat would adore it.

#8 - Snake Plissken
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_Plissken
Ok, how can you NOT like snake ? any Hero who can *get away* with the cliched stuff he does, and make it look believable, deserves the nod here.

#9 - Edgar Friendly
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demolition_Man_(film)
Not many Heros wind up on the opposite side of the "for your own good" set of wickedness, but of those that do, Eddie stands out by a mile.

#10 - The Finn
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuromancer
Fixers can be heros too, and Finn absolutely delivers the goods as a recurring side-arc Hero, even from beyond the grave.
(To be completely honest tho, I also picked him cause he's so MUCH like me it's scary... i about dropped the book in shock when it described his "office"!)

So there's 10 Sci-Fi Heros for ya, or at least my top-ten.

Han Solo at number three? How the heck did THAT happen?!? Indy is great, but he's just Han with a Hat, and Kirk... Ugh. A tired old punchline. Shouldn't even make the top 5 these days.
