This is what it says in the Soap section of the August 13 issue of TV Guide:

HE WON'T FORGET HIS SOAP LIFE

How cool is Nathan Fillion? This cool. He's returning to OLTL this week to help celebrate its 10,000th episode. He hardly needs the gig. Fillion, currently starring in the indie hit "Waitress", will join DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES this fall as Susan's new gynecologist (watch out, Mike!). "I guess a lot of actors don't like to admit they did soaps, but it was important for me to go back to where I got my start," says Fillion, who played star-crossed lover Joey Buchanan (1994-97). "I will never forget what OLTL did for me personally and professionally." Still the two-day stint (8/16-8/17) was "bittersweet", he notes, because he went back to bury his TV grandpa, Asa. The character was played by Phil Carey, the lovable crank who quit the show last spring in a contract tiff. "Phil didn't like everybody but when he liked you, he liked you, and he was very kind to me," Fillion recalls. "To honor him was a very big deal."

Also included, a very handsome picture of our captain!

Awesome news! I got DVR just in time to record those episodes while I'm at work. Yay! I can't wait!

So Nathan's playing a gynecologist again!?! I really hope he's not going to be Susan's love interest. I don't think I could take that. Any of the others, fine, great, whatever. But Terri Hatcher's character has just become too damn annoying. That's part of why I stopped watching the show.

Patsy: When you were two years old, we tied you to the central reservation of a motorway.

Edina: But you were like a homing pidgeon, sweetie....back within a week!

I didn't know he was playing another gynecologist either. I know he's playing Dana Delaney's much younger husband tho'.

Never watched the show myself. My mom tried to get me interested when it first came out, but I was (and am) more of a LOST girl, I guess.

Two days! He was only supposed to be on the show for one day. Sometime next week, I got to figure out what time this show airs.

JWHEDONADDICT, Simon over on http://whedonesque.com/ found a link to the article!

Whoo-hoo, Nathan is going to be on the 9,999 and 10,000 episode. And now we have a link to spread the news around!

Also episodes replay at night on the SoapNet cable channel

Go to this website to see if you have this cable channel

I'm hoping Universal advertises the Serenity Collector's Edition DVD. It could happen you know...maybe. I'll be taping and watching and hoping not to get addicted...I've heard soap operas can be addicting. Don't think it will be much of a problem since Nathan won't be on the 10,001 episode.

The only thing wrong with the link is that they didn't use the LOVELY picture of Nathan that was used in the print version.

That man that can wear a pastel lavender shirt and can still look manly.

Thanks MizB!

On my part of the US Left Coast, ABC shows OLTL at 1 PM PDT.

As for getting hooked, fear NOT. I've been trying to get up to speed for Nathan's appearance ("Who's that? What does she want? Ohh, Nathan's onscreen and I'm not paying attention...") for more time than I want to admit, and all I want is never to think about those people ever again. No hookage going on, none at all.

Hurry, Desperate Housewives! At least you're funny!

I used to watch OLTL around the time Nathan was on. I was into it then, but it was definitely my least favorite of the 3 big ABC soaps overall. The only one I watch now is General Hospital--everytime I try to pull away, they reel me back in...

Still, I know about 1/3 of the characters on the show now.

FYI--Viki (the matriarch and "heart" of Llanview, I guess) is his mom, Clint, Viki's ex, is his dad, Asa is (was) grandpa, Kevin is his older brother, Jessica is his younger sister, he had an affair with Dorian (Viki's enemy) but fell in love with her niece Kelly (Jessica's best friend at one time). Years after I stopped watching the show, and the character was recast at least twice, he and Kelly were over for good, Joey became a priest, Kelly married Kevin, and it was discovered he had another sister, Natalie.

If I missed anything or screwed any of it up, Little Albatross will hopefully correct me...she still watches the show, I think.

Joss Whedon: Well, there may be some female empowerment in it at some point. [Laughs.] I don't know who put that there. It's the same brew that I tend to brew, which is a combination of horror, and heroes, and people crying, and female empowerment. It's the thing that's made my career..."

Wonderful, jwa! Thanks for putting Joey into the family tree of the show. About the only thing I'd known was that he was Asa's grandson and had been caught in flagrante with Dorian.

Have we heard if Joey will return as a priest?
(Please, not a gynecologist...!)
