Em- I'd ask for clotted cream, but it wouldn't ship well... I could make a really long list of lovely things you can get, but we can't ( they are mostly food related)
1-real cream ( ours looks like your milk)
2-real butter
3-mars bars
4-puddings of any kind
5-eccles cakes
6-free university
7-fish and chips( really good kind ...here it's mostly frozen muck or shops that make fake ones with weird batter and long potato strings instead)
8-a large variety of candies
9-decent curry you don't have to drive miles to get take away
10- universal health care
I could keep going on the food but I've got an hour and half until lunch and I'd just start drooling.

Considering much of your list, you need #10 just to offset the effects of a lot of the rest.

"1-real cream" like creme fraiche? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cr%C3%A8me_fra%C3%AEche
Or clotted cream? Good stuff when you can find it.

"5-eccles cakes" Hmmmmm. Emma? Got a family recipe?

"9-decent curry" I buy some on-line.

Fly in England their cream ( our version being heavy whipping cream) is twice as thick. It's about the same consistency as sour cream. I can get creme fraiche , but not thick good quality cream to cook with..I have to settle for heavy cream which just doesn't give the same consistency :)
I didn't mean curry powder I mean take away curry ( like lamb vindaloo or such like)

Yeah Em make with the recipe...eccles cake mmmmmmmmmmm

this is the best I could find

That's why I was thinking "cottled cream". The stuff that you can smear on an English Muffin much like the cream cheese schmear on a bagel. Oh delightful. (Can a straight guy proclaim something to be "delightful"?)

Edit: I quoted your "clotted cream" comment, but failed to grok that it was there. Sorry to sound a bit addled.

Wow. Altoids are made in Britain. Callard and Bowser. I can remember many years ago when they first made a big marketing push. I just thought “Bowser is a curious name to give a stiff Brit!” Maybe they are an illicit controlled substance over there?

*slurp!*
My sister brought a big jar of cream that a friend gave to her. The jar tipped on its side with the lid open. The cream remained in the jar from the time that it tipped to the time that I righted the container. THAT was cream worth its weight in gold. Must be something like that!

Yeah. I whipped that cream and I swear I could have stacked it up to my height. I should see if I can connect to a farmer to get something like that. I was getting eggs "fresh from the chicken's rear" for a while. The difference in freshness (despite the rear term) was remarkable.

Why did someone post a picture of a horse at rodeo in reference to my grandson?

Are you saying my grandson is horse faced?

Are you implying he's a beast?

Are you trying to be witty with some sort of obscure double entendre no one understands?

What part of "Please leave me alone" don't you understand?

(Now, really. I know you were referring to the "fine looking specimen" part of my post with hopes of being humorous. But it's not.
And I've specifically asked you not to acknowledge my posts.)

Nevermind. I can type till my fingers are blue and you STILL would be trying to get a laugh.

There is alway a good feeling that you get for a job that you do yourself. But I think the exception is anything that involves processing chickens/eggs. After you've experienced a coop in 100 degree weather, there is NO WAY that the eggs can taste good. God bless the large isolation between the coop activities and my morning breakfast.

Hey - I picked up a book called "501 Tips for Teachers". Interested? I'll send it to you if you promise to share the good stuff in it with Emma and the other teachers here. Perhaps mention whatever tips are good in the thread.

Here's the list

AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES:

1. When choking on an ice cube, simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat. Presto! The blockage will instantly remove itself.

2. Avoid cutting yourself slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold while you chop.

3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.

4. To treat high blood pressure: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use the timer.

5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.

7. You only need two tool s in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

8. When confused remember, everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

DSM-IV approved? I thought that shoulda been stamped on my (and many of my clients) forehead long ago.

So much for that ice cold diet Pepsi I was trying to keep outta my sinuses.

Got some of the load off of my shoulders this aftrernoon after talking with the tribal police chief. Seems passing my info helped to have him point the mother in the direstion of appropriate culturally sensative resources. Yes folks, the family dynamic is a bit different in this case. It sucks that some cultures need a different set of counseling tools but I've never had a problem with telling people who scoffed at that idea to F off. I am so angry and motivated to do things the right way. The chief agreed that I am correct in my persuits and that it is a burden that I should not have to carry unwillingly. Seeing this person caught and dealt with within the letter of the law is my concern. If the law fails, then I will be studying any way possible to change it so it does work.

Hey I know it's not MPD I'm just saying I miss MPD...it's so descriptive and fun:)

Mav- hey we miss you being at the furniture farm too....and being on here as well

OK found a house...it's so perfect and I WANT IT. Now if I can finish the painting, landscaping, laundry, cleaning, packing, boxing, etc. by tomorrow...oh and tutor tomorrow night. Then I can get the house on the market the day after I get back from D*C and hopefully sell it in time to be able to get this house...no problem ( ha ha ha mine is a sarcastic and somewhat panicked laugh)

You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. And love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down… tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keels… makes her a home.

I get nap time after work so it is strange answering e-mails at two in the morning. Gotta get motivated. Show at the gallery Sat amnd Mon, possibly shooting Sunday, fricken decoys to work on, money situation still not fixed because of scheister-ass Dish Network, and I still need to get my car papered so's I can put Ginny to rest for a few months.

Seems there is alot I can do to keep my mind off of other things/people. Just need a good boot in the ass.

Oh yeah, and I still have to try bossing folks around who operate like pre-teens on the playground. I think puttin' the boots to them might help boost the ego a bit.

Naw. Sex seems to get more done than any of that.

So much for that idea.

ADD: Headed for the party. Just saw that it was up.

Huh. Maybe (bastards). This is the second time (assholes) that they did this on and account that doesn't even have my name on it. The people who have the account even called in with a different (*$#& faces) credit card number and had it put on their account. Oh, heaven forbid it takes a minute to pull four hundred dollars (&$^%*@ &^#*$&*) out of my account, but it takes seven to ten days to put it back. I can't even use the over draft option on my debit card because the bank cancelled it and is sending me a new one.

How long does it take to get the new debit card?

Seven to ten days.

You Dish Network! You In Your Stupid Asses!

Thus ends my angry ranting for the day. I better find something non-alcoholic and caffine free to drink for the rest of the day.

We are actually discussing privatizing the school system over at H23. Seems there are some excellent ideas at changing in that direction and for keeping direct government control over the school systems. I'll update you ASAP MSG. Very interesting.

For anyone concerned with the privatizing of our school systems check this out: Your military and penal systems have already started the trend and have been very successful in their persuits. Do some searches on these subjects. Surprize awaits you.

I would kill 10 small Swedish children to get a nap right now. Nothing sounds better than curling up with my sweetie and nodding off for a bit.

Aww. Thats so loving (!?!?) Mavs. Ten huh?

And I thought of the B&B thing a minute after posting. Yeah. Giggles and snorts coming from the brown guy from behind the desk usually arouses suspicion from everyone in the building. I told the curious that I was going over their performance appraisals. Talk about scattering like cats behind a chinese cuisine restaurant.

I need to be more careful. Seems I might be a bit on the mean hearted side right now.

You have plenty of fans right here. (Did I say that once already? I'm getting a bit... Oh look! Shiny things!)

Wow, you guys got chatty! Nice to see this thread with some life again.

So, just dropping by to let you all know that I'm still alive, more or less. Actually managed to work a bit last week, but an "oh crap, gotta get this done now" four hour session on Thursday really wiped me out. Was stuck in bed all day Monday, alternately sleeping and feeling sorry for myself. Hubby took yesterday off because he's a sweetheart, and even put up with my silly hat long enough to take me out to the store to buy more yarn for my next knitting projects (can either shower *or* go out these days, not both, hence the hat). I'm feeling emotionally a lot better after spending the day with hubby than I was on Monday.

I'm sort of ridiculously excited about my knitting recently, and my first post-baby boom (first nephew and honorary niece born in the last few months) project is almost done, based on this pattern: http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATTnautie.html . Probably going to mail it to my dad when it's done, despite it being the silliest thing I've ever knitted. Got yarn yesterday to make this: http://www.knitty.com/issuefall05/PATTbubby.html . After I finish one and figure out the pattern, I'll make a second one out of this really awesome cashmere yarn that hubby treated me to, probably as a gift for my sister. I made her a teddy bear dressed as Faramir (from Lord of the Rings) as a gift a few years ago, and she's been bugging me for a bear dressed as Mal for awhile now. So if all goes well with the pattern, after I finish knitting the cashmere bear, I'll make a tiny browncoat and teeny tiny suspenders for him. Should be way cute.

Hope all of you are doing well. I'm still lurking and reading when I can, but I feel like I'm missing parts of conversations, heh. Really envious of all you going to Dragon*Con this weekend (ok, not envious of the flying or the crowds, but definitely envious of the costumes and the partying!). Have a great time! Post pictures! I must live vicariously through you! Miss all y'all.
