This was Avery's idea. It's like a wine tasting....But not.

We have all the flavors for you to choose from:

Code Red
Livewire
Pitch Black
Baja Blast
Pitch Black 2
Game Fuel
Clash

As well as good 'ole Mountain Dew.

This is just a note that Baja blast may only be available at your local Taco Bell. Feel free to pick me up a chicken quesadilla while you're there.

Good grief, all these types of drink and none of them available here in blighty (they tried to launch it in the uk but it didn't take).

Morning all, working from home today, hope you're all doing good and had a good weekend, saw my nephew and niece over the weekend who were very cute although no idea how people cope with kids full time!

Anyway, work is calling, onwards!

Sorry Ive been AWOL for awhile - its been a crazy week. I was running an SCA event on the weekend that ran me ragged - I spent at least 30 hours cooking in the evenings and weekend in the last week...and then on friday our car blew up, and it is dead dead dead. So now Ive finished stressing about the feast, I can stress about how the hell I get a new car. *sigh*

hmmm, I dont think a coke is gonna cut it, Ill have a long island ice tea please, barkeep!

Would be happy to lend them to you., I'll request them back off my firend who currently has them. He was saying that he has a queue of books anyway so I'll bump him down the list! He's coming over this weekend so I'll get them off him then and post the first few over to you. They're great fun!

I'm feeling drink deprived! I need to try some of these concoctions.

One big question - do they contain caffiene?

This is vitally important as I am trying to function today on less than 4 hours of sleep and I can't get my eyes to focus.

Edit:

Yes, Mountain Dew is notorious for containing a decent amount of caffeine. What we are really going for is flavor. :)

LA29!!!!!!!! *GLOMP* Howya doin' Lassy?

So I have a question for all you lovely (and manly if there are any) Teachers out there.....

Last week my littleone came home with a note in her bag from her teacher. It stated that my Daughter had an incident in class. The incident was that during Math her pencil broke and that the students know taht they are not allowed to use the pencil sharpner during Math because it is a distraction. She said that my daughter started to cry when she was not allowed to sharpen her pencil but was given one from the teacher and that she caused a distraction when her classmates asked her what was wrong and she explained that she broke her pencil and was not allowed to sharpen it.

She is a brand new out of college teacher so I am assuming that she is taking advice where she can get it for classroom rules but ......

First off WTF! Since when is sharpening your pencil so that you can do you work a distraction?

Secondly, she is working with first graders. Most of them are 5 and 6 years old and have their first ever very own pencils so they are a little possive of their knew school tool and want to use it.

I am debating approaching this new teacher and giving her a piece of my mind (or maybe writting a letter to the Dean of her school) but am unsure if this is wise.

Any input?

Kelkil, it sounds to me as if this teacher had a class at some time get out of control with everyone stabbing each other and sharpening pencils for half an hour until they were tiny stubs and has developed a complex about it. The rules do seem overly strict and to call such a group of events an 'incident' is ridiculous (if that were the extent of the 'incidents' I had to deal with my life would be bliss!)

I would recommend not going in guns blazing. Seems to me that this teacher is feeling insecure and thereofre asserting her authority whenever she can. If you question that authority she will probably react very defensively and possibly make life harder for the kids. Give your mini-browncoat lots of reassurance that it's no big deal and try to find ways around itin future (maybe get her lots of pencils?!)

It's lovely to see your protective hackles raised but these things tend to blow over quickly and I have found that standing up to silly rules usually tends to be more trouble than it's worth. There are always ways around them (did I mention they blocked Google Images at work, making lesson prep harder? I accepted this and have installed rerouting software that lets me do what I like! If ever anyone finds out about this I'll apologise and then find another way around their obstacles!)

Ok as a teacher I am horrified that she made a little child cry with such a draconian rule...what is her problem?
I'd go in and talk to the teacher. Tell her you understand about need for rules and classroom control and just let her know how concerned you were about this and ask if she could announce to the kids the procedure for what to do if your pencil breaks or needs sharpening during a "no sharpening" time. She likely just didn't think it through all the way to that and just wanted to have a way to make sure kids stay in seat and didn't distract. Then she can let the whole class know how she wants it handled and it won't single your little one out any more than she feels she has been. I'd also tell your daughter that sometimes teachers are trying just as hard as she is and make mistakes anyway and that it's important to be patient with everyone even when they seem to be unfair. I'd also teach her the " I'm not sure that's fair" strategy. She raises her hand, waits until the teacher comes over, tells her she's not sure the rule is fair and ask to talk to her after class or at recess ( she may be a bit young for this yet, but she can learn it later) then go in after class and talk to the teacher. It usually works unless the teacher's a right bitch.
Wow that was way longer than I meant to post...sorry I kind of get all nutty about teaching...carried away there.

PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Morning everyone! Or really afternoon, since I used this day off to catch up on sleep. I'm rather glad that my boss thought my classes had started already, because it means lots of time off for me to recover, but I did have to correct him just so I can make as much cash as possible before I have other things on my hands. I have DragonCon bills to pay *g*
It's so good to see everyone I missed those of you who weren't at the Con.
Kel, I've had teachers like that. One of them turned out to be a herion addict, but mostly they were just bitches. I advise getting your sweet little girl an automatic pencil to take care of this particular problem. I loved those things in schools. If the teacher continues to scream about little things, I would say the least effective thing you could do would be to talk to her; talk to her coworkers about their policies, and talk to the principal, because that's the only way to overturn something unreasonable. My mom had to do a crazy, crazy amount of battle when I was flunked for leaving an assignment in my homeroom desk and not being allowed to go back for it. It's ridiculous, what some teachers will put children through just to feel that they're in control. No disrespect to the lovely teachers here, of course. I've met MsG and I'm sure she doesn't feel the need to resort to such things to feel in control, she just is. She's in charge, no ifs, ands, or buts, and she's sweet about it. This woman you're talking about has a lot to learn about being decent to kids.

*sips Code Red*

Don't forget all the wonderful teachers we've had too! I had my jeans stolen out of my locker *yes my jeans!!!* while in gym one day and one of my teachers was nice enough to drive me home so I can get a pair to wear for the rest of the day.

HUGS yes Rose I agree any teacher who bullies for power is a sad pitiful nasty creature who should be strung up ( this is why reading about Umbridge in Harry Potter makes me so freakin nuts) These are your kids, your responsibility. It's your job to see that they are happy, safe, productive, and that they learn what they need to be the best person they can. Every rule you make and enforce should be carefully thought out, have a procedure for unexpected or "emergency" situations and should keep in mind that no matter what size they are, these are children. Not that you let them get away with anything, but that you set boundaries and limits to help them be successful and you never do anything you don't have a really good reason for.

Does it really taste different when you do the lemon salt thing? I had it straight up and ick!!

But every time I see someone do the lemon salt thing I get curious again.

*giggle*
OK limes it is

That just proves that I really don't drink tequila unless it;s in my favorite frozen concoction !

Dare I ask ...What's your way ,as opposed to the "normal " way of drinking the shooters ?
I'm very curious !

((((HUGS))))
