What are our chances/what can i do?

I LOVE FIREFLY!!!! As im assuming all of you do as well :} I watched it in the middle of summer and loved it and went out to buy the series and the movie.
Now im wondering, how big a chance is there that we will ever see more Firefly? From what i've read and been told Joss would love to do more, but its not all up to him. Also the cast, with them being in other things would they want to do more? From watching the special features, hearing what they have to say i would figure they would want to. It seems like Firefly has meant something to everyone and no ones ready to let it go. And yes the cast may be onto other things but what about when those end. Would they come back?
And whats it going to take to get more Firefly? I bought the Collectors Edition and the series, but what else can i do? How's the CE selling? Any talk about that?
This is the only show that i've ever loved this much. That i had to watch every day and at least quote a few times :] And now i have gotten my mom and brother into it! But they live with me and wouldn't want me to buy them the dvd's. Would getting more people into it help? I just don't know how to go about doing that. I've tried to get my friends to watch it, but they weren't interested so im clueless. I was thinking maybe posting Myspace bulletins. I mean people repost some of the weirdest stuff and who knows who will see it? It might recruit someone, i don't know.
I just feel like i have to do something. Seeing as i'm new to the show i don't know how good the chances are. I mean the show was on back in 2002 but the movie came out just 2 years ago! Which really isn't that long, and the CE just came out.

So anybody know of any ways i can get people more interested? And is that what we need? Will that really help us get the show, or another movie, or something?

I think you are starting in on this in the right way. First, you found your way here, where we all love Firefly to death. There are plenty of ideas floating about, so check in the Guerilla Marketing forum for ways other people have been spreading the word. Basically it boils down to getting other people to watch it. Once they do, the majority are going to feel the same way we all do.

You are just one in a very big number, growing steadily everyday, who have discovered the beauty and wondrous nature of the best gorram show in the 'verse. Personally, I believe there will be more in the near future (by 2010, no later), but even if that doesn't happen it still would be a great thing to turn other people on to the show. Its accessible storylines and relatable characters are enough to brighten the life of anyone who watches it, and if fourteen episodes and one movie (and a few comics) are all we will ever have, it will still have been worth the ride.

I just keep trying to get everyone i meet to watch an episode of it, and if that one doesn't work another episode of it. It isn't easy going because some people decide to hate it simply because i love it!

I hope feverently every day someone will realise that this story is worth telling more of and we will get another movie or god willing another 6 series.

So basically a combination of forcing people to watch and hope is what i aim for.

I have a set of FF & BDM DVDs on permanent display at work, I don't push it but if someone asks about them I suggest they take a disk & have a look for themselves. I'd reckon 20 to 30 people have borrowed them, many of those have since bought themselves a set.

I'm thinking a sequel is a real possibility but we've got to give Universal a reason to make it = $$$$$

Its all about growing the fanbase & never giving up hope. If, at the end of the day, it doesn't happen, its still a buzz to say "I'm a Browncoat".

Yup - $$$ is the way to go. Make sure you buy official merchandise, so that there is cash going back to Universal. So - DVDs and books, and the stuff from QMX is all good. Plus there is an official t-shirt place IIRC.

Right now the CE is probably the thing to buy - Joss has hinted that sales of this are potentially important.

Jewel (Kaylee) Staite stated in her myspace blog that she would do more Firefly/Serenity in a heartbeat.

All the other actors have said similiar things. And you can clearly tell from the Cast commentary on the Serenity CE DVD that Joss and the actors all love working together. And they all love Firefly/Serenity more than we do. Really.

Plenty of stories in the 'verse. Joss hasn't given up hope. That is why we are getting another 3-issue Serenity comic and not a full season series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 8 and Angel Season 6.

We hold 'till Mal gets back.
