"Drive" creator Tim Minear and Emmy winner Todd Holland have teamed for "Miracle Man," a drama project that sparked a bidding war between ABC and Fox and landed at ABC with a put pilot commitment.

"Miracle" -- from 20th Century Fox TV, where Minear and Holland are based with overall deals -- centers on a disgraced former televangelist, a man of no faith, who finds that God is using him to perform real miracles and change lives, starting with his own.

"It's about losing everything and starting over and finding that there is a higher purpose in life," Minear said. "It's about a man who says, 'I don't know how to be good, but I'll try to be better.' "

"Miracle" was developed by Minear and Holland, who worked together on Fox's critically praised drama "Wonderfalls." Minear is writing the script, with Holland set to direct. Both are executive producing.

That was close.

Sounds interesting. Shades of Wonderfalls. I wonder if there'll be any subtle crossovers (nothing major is needed; just, say, an indication that the "Wonderfalls" store exist in the "Miracle Man" universe).

an escape from instant death by cancellation. Good thing Nathan's already booked for Desperate Housewives, otherwise he couldda been cast in this. Sounds like some similarities to Mal, doesn't it?

Oh man, a Minear-written show with Nathan Fillion that's NOT on Fox? Should I dare to even dream?

Any show Minear puts up, I'll give it a shot. Just like Joss, you can't usually see the genius of his writing from the outside. It takes careful examination -- at least 3 or 4 episodes. Let's hope the ABC execs know that better than Fox.

SHAMELESS

Honestly, while I know that you take what you can get... considering the way Fox has treated Tim and Joss in the past, if ABC was offering, why the hell would Tim even give Fox a chance? It's like Joss said. Partially it was his fault, what happened to Firefly - "We're not really interested" was a PRETTY BIG HINT. But hey, who knows, if Joss had held off for another network, we might have lost one or two or more of the cast members...

Thank GOD and all the spirits above it's on ABC. Right now ABC's pretty desperate so I think they'll more than give Minear a try. As I see it NBC's lead the charge in the sci-fi genre and the studio heads (nil Fux) are taking notes. And they probably have seen some of the shows Tim produced and thought to give him a try and them a boost. Could this be a chance of things to come? I'm just happy I don't have to say, "It won't even get two episodes."

As long as it doesn't air on Mondays(Heroes) or Fridays(deathslot) we'll be fine.

Hope it stars somebody we know.

And just to play devil's advocate, ABC is the Disney-run, family-oriented channel, right? I'm not worried about cancellation so much as the execs trying to "water down" the content. Otherwise, anxiously awaiting this one.

Hey hey, no need to diss Micheal, that was a wonderful movie, and not exactly family friendly considering some of the content. An Angel who smokes, drinks AND has sex? Doesn't sound Disneyesque to me. Sorry, I just love that movie. That and Phenomenon are two of his best films in mho.
