So I'm in Edmonton visiting my cousin for Thanksgiving and one of her friends is over. Well we got to talking and, though I can't remember how, he mentions he is a friend of Nathan (even has his cell number)...

Now, I'd like to stay a fan, not become a fanatic so I tried to restrain myself from jabbering way. I was more or less able to control myself. But I then realised then I have become one of those persons I used to make fun of. (Lightheartedly mind you, I'd laugh along if people make those types of jokes about me now).

I just kept thinking throughout the night how I am having Thanksgiving Dinner with a friend of Nathan Fillion! He had gone to high school with him (as did one of the other guests, though she hadn't been one of his friends).

I wanted to force Nathan's number out of him... but I didn't. Why do I feel like I am special... I'll get over it... more so I've come to the realisation that I LOVE FIREFLY (and most especially admire Nathan's work).

I hope I don't sound crazy but that's the way it is.

Very very exciting.

You were in a room with a friend of Nathan.

Feeling special is perfectly normal.

2 degrees of seperation.

I was handed a phone with Madonna on the other end some years back. I've been a fan of hers since Holiday.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I don't think there is a such thing as liking Firefly / Serenity too much. Now there is fans that go way overboard, but you certainly don't sound like the type.

Shiny that you are having Thanksgiving with a friend of Nathan's. Maybe Nathan will call to wish his friend a happy holiday and you can say hello. I know, long shot, but why not dream?

Cool!

I KNOW I like this show too much. My friends (most of which are fans to varying degrees) let me know constantly.

Case in point: A party this past Saturday, a few partygoers are talking about books they're reading..one reading The Godfather, one reading some S.M. Sterling book..they ask me, I tell them, "I just finished "Finding Serenity", and earlier tonight started reading Joss Whedon's original movie script for "Serenity"." They give me "the look", and I just smile..

As an aside...the original script was pretty weak IMO. Lacked that Joss-punch. Glad he rewrote it, even if it meant losing 2 BDH's.

Oooh Shiny...it's good that you resisted though as we don't want to intrude too much on the BDH's privacy and all:)

America loves a winner!

I know of what you speak. I found myself drawn to this show, and all things related to it, like no other. Dunno what it is, because as best as I can tell, there's not a 'type' of person who falls for Firefly. Young, old, Whedon fanatics, or those who never heard of Buffy or Angel, there really seems to be a wide swath of folks who have fallen for this show, it's characters, everything about it. I went to my first Con of any sort, at the age of 40, just to see our BDH's. I know I could never think of anything origianl to say, ask or tell them, but it didn't matter. As self conscious as I was about WANTING to see them, I didn't care. I saw so many other smiling Browncoats and all I could think was ...this is right. It feels right. I saw Jewel and her husband Matt at a small panel meeting on the last night of DragonCon. They were so nice, and so " just being folk ", it was the coolest thing ever. I heard stories of other BDHs and how they took time out just to chat w/ fans, like they were with old friends. On and on it goes, to say I'm impressed w/ the whole Browncoat community doesn't come close. And all this over a T.V. show , then a movie. I still find it hard to explain.

But I know I like it. I know there's nothing else like it, and I hope more and more folks find their way to the Firefly 'verse.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss
