Anyone see this week's Chuck and notice the "Jayne" that Adam pulled off when he told Chuck that he had to learn the Tango for the party which was to be his first real field assignment ? Right out of Bushwacked where Jayne told Simon he had to get suited up ;-)

Yup Jayne, I mean Casey’s a low-down dirty deceiver…lol. Now tell me where you put the stuff so I can shoot ya. Or would ya rather be hit in the head with a microwave. Yepper the apple isn’t falling far away from the tree. Adam Baldwin is Adam “Awesome” me thinks…

I’m liking the show.

Yep. My boss had just made the comment that whoever cast Chuck must have liked the Jayne character. First thing we both thought of when we saw that scene.

I really love this show! Adam is getting a lot of screen time w/very funny lines and great action...

I loved when Casey was the bartender and came up over the bar to go into fight mode.

I find myself standing up to cheer during half the show!

I loved that part too. In fact I liked all the looks Jayne, I mean Casey, was giving Chuck over the bar as he conversed with his old Stanford "buddy."

Yeah, the whole Tango at the party sequence was a clear nod to True Lies. Nice spoof, Chuck learning the women's part from Alec (Dark Angel's Alec, Jensen Ackles). But the gleam in Adam's eye when his "Jayne" con was uncovered was great. He does like to tip his hat to Firefly in his other roles. I think he had a line in that short-lived show, Day Break, about watching a space western on tv over the weekend.

Captain Awesome is not Jensen Ackles. He has his own show on WB already, Supernatural, which I find pretty good.

But yes, now all we need is for Adam to grow a goatee and it would be perfect.

Yes, my mistake. The actor is actually Ryan McPartlin. Looked like an older more mature version of Alec, kind of the same role in a way.

They should have used Summer as the hitlady from this episode and then had an Adam and Summer rematch fight ;-)

The show is called "Chuck". Basically a spoof on spy shows. Pretty good, but I watch it solely to watch one of the BDH's, desperate huh ?

Heya- Don't worry i completely understand,i Tivo most TV now- I have no patience when it comes to commertials and crappy shows. But i decided to watch Adam's new project- its called "Chuck" (Monday @ 8pm on NBC)

Its a comedy/ Adventure. Its pretty good and garnering good reviews as well as high ratings. People like this show.

Synopsis :A computer nerd accidentally has thousands of government secrets downloaded into his head when he opens a mysterious email from his former college roommate. Chuck is a timid, yet lovable character who works for the "Nerd Herd" (parody of the "Geek Squad" from Best Buy). He lives with his sister, who is trying to get him to go out more often. Chuck doesn't realize he has government secrets locked in his memory, but he suspects he is being pursued. He soon discovers what he knows when he is contacted by the CIA( This hot blond chick)and NSA(Adam's character!!!). They must now keep him safe while they find out what he really knows.

If you want to watch the full episodes for free, you can go to www.nbc.com/Chuck and click VIDEO to watch the complete episodes with minimal commercial interruptions. If you want to avoid commercials, you can download the eps from Amazon Unbox for around $2 an episode.

I've been watching Chuck every monday, but I'm finding that I also watch online occasionally when I am trying to avoid doing homework.

And my fave part this week: when Casey gets punched right in the forehead and it doesn't even seem to phase him! Awesome!

I just love when he was tranquilized. The same look was on his face as when River was beating him down in the Maidenhead. One thing I noticed that I wasn't sure if he did intentionally or just happened, but when the truck exploded and he fell he did the Simon Flail.

And, wasn't it Orson who said that his son's gift of Firefly sat un-opened in his house for a year? Talk about makin' amends! By the way, is he someone famous or almost famous?

Dont' know if you are being sarcastic, but in case you are not, or in case anybody else doesn't know but is afraid to ask:

Orson Scott Card wrote, among various other things, the famed "Ender's Game" sci-fi novel, and the subsequent Ender series. Numerous listings have called Ender's Game the greatest sci-fi novel of all time, and I certainly believe it to be the best one I have read. Much like Firefly, Ender's Game is that great kind of sci-fi where the sci-fi element fades into the background, becoming the setting but not the characters, so you are still left with these very human, relatable people that you feel could live next door to you, or for that matter BE you. I highly recommend it.

If Orson Scott Card says this about FF/Serenity, I have a hard time thinking of higher praise for our show!

While I liked all of Adam's bits, the moment that made me laugh the most was when Chuck's friend was trapped in the cage and called the hotel to try to get in touch with Chuck. And when he heard Chuck over the phone and was all "Wait, that's him. CHHUUUUUUUCK!" and you heard that from the other side of the phone. For some reason, that just made me laugh so hard.

Plus, I liked the guy from school that Chuck ran into and how he got freaked out when Chuck had the flash of his insider trading and Cayman islands bank account.

It seems thet delibertly created this character for Adam to match that of Jayne. It is good to see him again. Both Adam and the Jayne qualities he gets to play with.

I thought Casey was not going to know any tech stuff but he said he upgraded the geek mobile with the spy stuff. And Casey says words that Jayne could never say.

I noticed the bonzai tree too.

I loved the microwave hitting the guy in the face. That was perfect. Made perfect sense too. Plenty of those lying around a Best Buy...I mean Buy More.

And Casey following the guy and then Chuck making the cage announcement and Casey helping him to find the storage cage. "I'm just a sales clerk."

Tell me how to fix a computer Chuck.

...I could go on...

I'm watching this show live you know. Don't do that too much anymore. Taping it in case I miss anything or want to go back over something. Same with Desperate Housewives (Nathan's character is the desperate housewives' OBGYN :)

I’m just thrilled they’re giving Adam's character so many fun little characteristics to work with. That in its self is reminiscent of Jayne all over again. I can’t wait to see what else they come up with. By far, the highlight for me during Monday nights epi was Morgan’s “Man, that dude is creepy.” line, with Adam peering out of the wide gap in the blinds.

All the reviews I’ve seen have been raving about Adam’s comedic delivery.

Examples:

Quote:

Morgan may have garnered much of the laughs last night, but when it comes to Chuck's secondary characters, Adam Baldwin, as Casey, has become so hilariously over-the-top that he comes dangerously close to stealing the show. Come on, how could you not laugh at the tough guy’s cheesy one-liners ("That's what I call moving of merchandise," after hitting a lackey with a television) and questionable monitoring techniques (see: Casey peering twice through Chuck's shades)? He certainly outshines Yvonne Strzechowski's Sarah, who doesn’t seem to have much beyond her pretty-heartbroken-blonde- who-can-kick-ass exterior.

Source: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2007/10/mini-tv-watch-1.html#more

Quote:

Casey once again was the comedic muscle. The way he delivered the mission message to Chuck (through the window blinds); his inside joke about the tango (was he making fun, or having fun with Chuck there?); his bonsai tree (I think that was the most tense he's ever been!); and the fight with the thugs in the store (which was better — taking out the guy with the microwave, or the punch to the face that left the bad guy's hand hurting?). And it seems there will be at least one thing each episode that Casey will "not kid" about. Last week it was quiche, this week it was about Chuck's life and the tango.

yeah, who says there is no character growth for Casey?!
First we just thought he was a killer,
and now we know he is a lover of Bonsai trees!

And frankly I think it is just silly to confuse Adam Baldwin w/Jayne:
Adam is very intelligent, he really listens to the people around him, and connects to them...
he is not even remotely the big dope Jayne is,
any more than he is the intimidating killer Casey is,
he is just a really good actor.

Digging Chuck and I love every scene that Adam is in.

Anyone notice how Adam is still big on using props to act without saying a word. Like the scene with the Bonsai tree. Absolutely great!

I liked it in Episode 2 when one tranq dart didn't put Casey down. Made me think, "This boy weighs a solid ton."

Also in episode 3 (tango) there was a moment when it looked like Casey was going to say something more and then just walked away. Made me think of OOG where Jayne is taking his leave of Mal and says, "Well." you think there is going to be a tender goodbye and then he just turns and strides away.

On the whole I'm liking Chuck for itself. I particularly like Morgan. Is there anybody else who finds the sister looks a little weird? Pretty but something not quite right?
