I'm bored so I thought I'd start a thread about anime. You can list old or new or both. I'm just curious to see what everyone likes.

I have a lot, so I'm only going to list five of each:

Old:
Neon Genisis Evangelion
Cowboy Bebop
Vampire Hunter D
Ghost In The Shell
Akira

New:
Death Note
When They Cry
Hellsing Ultimate
Bleach
Azumanga Daioh

I was wondering how long before someone started someat like this
Mine are-
Tenjuo Tenge,
Tokko,
Full Metal Panic,
Haibane Renmei,
Saber Marionette J,
Naruto,
and bunches of others I can't remember just now.
Can we also list manga? Cuz, I like some scheise that ain't been made into anime yet, like Highschool of the Dead and Megatokyo.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch much anime lately, but here's some of mine:

Full Metal Alchemist
Outlaw Star
Trigun

I like the manga for these two better than the anime:

Ah! My Goddess
Ranma 1/2

I really have to get around to watching more shows. Never have the time anymore...

Sure, I hadn't thought of that.

Judas
Absolute Boyfriend
I prefer the Prince Of Tennis manga
Ouran High School Host Club (Since it isn't released here yet)

And I have to add Tsubasa to my list, I love that show!!!

I'm not that much into anime, but I am a fan of Miyazaki. I have MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, PRINCESS MONONOKE and SPIRITED AWAY in my DVD collection. And if I see KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE on sale for really cheap, I think I might pick it up as well.

Kinda thought HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE was a bit of a disappointment, but I'll be first in line to see his next film.

Afro Samurai, possibly the greatest Anime ever made, come on what gets better than Samuel L. Jackson and Ron Perlman doing the voice acting!

Three words - Space Battleship Yamato.

Or 'Star Blazers' to the English-speaking audience. If you're into sci-fi and anime, this show is utopia. I can vividly remember my sister and me, at the respective ages of eight and four, making haste home from school and arriving barely in time to plop down and watch the Star Force pwn teh Gamilons.

CYBERSNARK

Anime can be hard to come by in Canada, so my list includes most of what I've seen. My favourites include InuYasha & Naruto (I sympathize with both the leads; I have InuYasha's tendency to fall in love with the worst possible person at the worst possible time, and the way Naruto feels about being Hokage is the same way I feel about being a writer).

Evangelion
Fullmetal Alchemist
Gundam Seed and GS Destiny, which I'm still watching (on YTV)
Eureka 7 (still watching)
Last Exile (still watching)
Read or Die (OVA)
Read or Dream (TV series)
Appleseed (the remake, not the original)
Banner of the Stars I & II/Crest of the Stars
éX-Driver
Yukikaze
Witch Hunter Robin
Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex (I'm waiting for 2nd Gig to go down in price before buying it and Solid-State Society)

(I have my eye on Blue Sub #6 and Gunslinger Girls as my next purchases, and I'm tracking down Samurai 7 and Dai-Guard DVDs one by one [since I started collecting individual DVDs, not realizing they they were ongoing series].)

(Oh, and Robotech gets an honourable mention, even though it's not actually "anime" [it's three animes, stitched together into a completely different American series], and I'm more a fan of the novels anyway.)

As for Manga, it's hard for me to get into, since I don't tend to find out what's cool until there're at least 10 issues out, and I can never find 'em all.

The ones I've been following from the beginning are:
Evangelion
Evangelion: Angelic Days
Shaman King
My Dead Ex-Girlfriend (endorsed by Joss himself!)
Van Von Hunter

The last two are English-language "American Manga," but they still count, IMHO, 'cause they're sold as manga.

Samurai 7 was good, and Gunslinger Girls is really good yet kinda depressing.

I loved Chrono Crusade and Noein is some good sci-fi.

I'm still working on This Ugly Yet Beautiful World and Mushi-shi.

And I love The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya!!!

I saw one-and-a-half episodes of Haruhi (at FanExpo; they were late starting, so I had to skip out midway through to get to another panel), and instantly joined the Haruhi cult.

I'm waiting for the box set, though, to avoid having to wait for the inevitable "next" disk to come out.

Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are really the only two anime's I've enjoyed.

I've watched Ghost in the Shell and Neon Evangalion, along with bits of some others, but I just can't get into them.

Robotech on Saturday mornings when I was eleven, Voices of a Distant Star was an awesome one shot, Samurai 7 was a pretty good interpretation of the Kurosawa piece, Samurai Champloo (from the first seven episodes I saw) rocked ass, Inuyasha was quite involved but I'd love to see the whole series and movies, but personally and above all for me is Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X.

Cowboy Bebop (almost manditory for a Browncoat!)

Fullmetal Alchemist (Winry Rockbell is my other favorite Female mechanic!)

Ghost in the Shell (I've been known to quote the Major, and those Tachikomas(?) are really cute, for robotic killing machines! Have to arrange a little playtime with River 8-)

Bleach (Ichigo Kurasaki reminds me of some other stupidly heroic, blindly idealistic trouble-maker, but I can't seem to remember his name...)

Eureka 7 ('River' becomes a cute, but weird, mecha pilot, and 'Simon' morphs into a clueless mechanic. This version of 'Fly really makes them suits nervous 8-)

Samurai Champloo
Noein

Black Lagoon ('Simon' is a kidnapped Nipponski salaryman, who later joins the crew, 'Jayne' has, err, vast tracks of land... 'Wash' is a computer geek who once managed to piss off the Mob and the FBI at the same time. Their Captain is Mal, Book, and Zoe, all in one. Alright, I've carried this too far...)

Picked up Volume 1 of Pumpkin Scissors today, gotta go watch it.

Also Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Porco Rosso, which are movies, why I didn't think of them, I guess. And Patlabor: The Movie (or, as I personally refer to it, 'How I got over it and learned to love the giant robot suit genre!' 8-).

Micheal Keaton is the voice-actor for Porco, and he does it very much like Bogart in Casablanca. A beautiful modern fable.

Princess Mononoke is probably my favorite anime movie, ever. The hero never ever comes off as 'posing', and the bad guys, and girls, too, are not irredeemably evil. Greedy, and dreaming of personal power ("The very thing to rule the world!"), but they look after their own people, first and last.

Anyone ever see a horror called the adventures of Unico? I think that piece of (whatever the chinese phrase is that Kaylee says, mind blank right now) ruined any possiblity of enjoying it for me. However, I have seen and enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Robotech, and some other one that I can't remember now(it was late, I was sleepy, it was on G4, or maybe SciFi). I liked it, just can't remember. Can someone get the cortical electrodes?

*Edit: it was Patlabor, re-read a post above me and it clicked. I think it was the 3rd movie.

I still need to finish Basilisk and Full Metal Panic!: TSR.

And I am now addicted to Hikaru No Go.

Okay, I was stretching it with M-66. But I thought Windaria was fantastic! A hero that's a complete loser, great music, pretty animation.... Gotta stay away from the Harmony Gold version, though.

Heard of the all and watched them in our meetings in the 90s at UB. Great shows. Only one we didn't get on Laserdisc was Dragonar, the rest we had on LD and watched regularly. Dragonar unfortunately was a old dub from a fellow in Japan and the quality was not that great.

Others I love:

Orange Road
Bubblegum Crisis (original series)
Crusher Joe
Dragon Heaven (Now has anyone else seen that one?)
Project A-Ko
Too many more to list.

New stuff I am watching:

Yukikaze
Haruhi Suzumiya

I don't think it counts as anime, but I've got to mention The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Best! Cartoon! Ever!

MISSTRESSAHARA

Not really much into anime even though it's everywhere. Maybe because I get innundated with fan pictures on all the art sites I go to and all you see is crappy crappy renditions of the same characters over and over and over again. Can put a person off.

The only one I've liked enough to download and save is Cowboy Bebop. I will say as good as it is though there's really no comparison between it and Firefly. To me at least.

Does Hentai count? Cause then we're talkin.
